Emilie`s first night with a tv in her room - I know...bad mommy....
Hillbilly Housewife wrote: But it was HEAVEN.
I put her in her room with her doll and her sippy of water, settled her to watch Dora. She was SITTING in her bed, not lying down... but it`s a start.
She was QUIET, from 7pm to about 7:15pm.... DH wasn`t around either - he had some stuff to take care of outside (watering the grounds while the regular guy is on vacation)
Then she wanted a DIFFERENT movie.
So I changed her movie.
She was quiet from about 7:20 to 7:35, when she decided she was hungry.
I gave her a peanutbutter sandwich (1 slice, folded in half) and she ate half of it, with a small glass of vanilla soy milk
7:45 to 8pm - she was still quiet in her room.
8pm - she decided she didn`t want to be in her room anymore - so I threated to take away her movie, she quieted down pretty quick!!!
So around 8:15, I wasn`t hearing a peep out of her room... so I let her be.
just before 9pm - DH comes back - he goes to check on Emilie - she wasn`t sleeping, but she was on the verge of.... so he tried to put her to bed - she didn`t want to SLEEP - he told her that ok, daddy will leave if EMilie lies down to watch Dora, she lied down, he left, she was out 5 minuts later.
So she was out at around 9pm - a little later than I`d like her to go to sleep, but she slept through the night... and woke up at 7am this morning!
and.... NO STRUGGLE!!!!!!!!!!!
luvbug00 replied: Mya goes to bed with the TV everynight. It lets her settle down and she falls asleep to it. It gives me time to relax before bed. Not bad Mommy! Smart Mommy!
amynicole21 replied: We get a good hour of "run around the house and get stuff done" time every night now that we have the TV/DVD in Sophia's room... bad mommy
Gammy2 replied: Hey TV is great. My husband and i still go to sleep with the TV on.
A&A'smommy replied: WOW so if I have trouble switching Alyssa to her own room would ya'll reccamend using the tv?
I'm glad ya'll had a better night!
TANNER'S MOM replied: I dont use a TV.. but I do use the radio.
All my kids have always went to bed w/ the radio on.
I even leave it on for the dog..
A&A'smommy replied: I did that too for a little while it quite working though
jacobsmama replied: We don't use TV or Radio but when Jacob gets older and in big bed we may just do that. My best friend does it with her kids and it works like a charm!!! I'm glad you had a great night and had mommmy and daddy time!!
my2monkeyboys replied: I'm so glad it helped with her! My son sleeps with a cd of lullabies on all night. I guess it just helps to wind them down after a busy day. Not a bad mommy!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Oh ever since they were born we`ve had baby 'classical' music in their rooms...
julesmom replied: My 5 and 7 year old go to sleep with the tv on in their room.
julesmom replied: My parents used to do that when we were growing up. They left the radio playing so the dog wouldn't get lonely.
MommyToAshley replied: We don't use a TV in Ashley's room either, but she usually watches a DVD after her bath and before we read books, say prayers, and she goes to bed. Somehow the DVD worked it's way into our bedtime routine. But, it's a quiet and calming activity before bedtime.
Now, me, on the other hand, I often fall asleep to the TV. It gets my mind off things and allows me to relax and then I fall asleep. DH gets annoyed at me for falling asleep in the middle of movies.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Mine too!
I don`t think we`ve rented a movie where I`ve seen the ending in...well... I don`t remember the last time I`ve seen the ending to a movie WHILE I was wathcing the movie, it`s always the next day or the day after....
