Early Christmas shopping

Nina J wrote: I decided this year I was going to do early Christmas shopping so I didn't have to worry about it later on. In the next 2 months I am mainly going to try to get presents for family members like Aunt's, cousins, etc. I never know what to buy them so I am just going to start buying some stuff and sort it in to who gets what closer to Christmas.

I have been thinking what I could buy and so far I have come up with dvd's, home stuff like candles and towels etc. But really thats as far as I got. But now I've run out of ideas laugh.gif So if anyone has any suggestions for what I could get it would be good. These are mainly for family members/friends I don't know super well so it doesn't have to be really specific to what they like.

Is anyone else doing early Christmas shopping? I just don't want to have the stress I usually have of having to buy heaps of gifts at once wacko.gif

Calimama replied: Me, me, me! I always put it off to the last second. Besides Miabella wants Barney stuff and because he's not as popular it's getting harder to find. rolleyes.gif

JulieJ replied: DD is drooling over pocket puppies. I say I will shop early every year but rarely do it. It is so much nicer when I actually get this done. I don'' see much at DS is wanting.

luvmykids replied: I wish rolling_smile.gif I do kind of enjoy the last minute rush but it would be nice to get some of it crossed off the list early.

mckayleesmom replied: Maybe you can make them all something early that won't go bad....Like cakes in a jar or something. I always love that type of stuff.

Our Lil' Family replied: I'm usually done by December 1st, with the exception of gift cards. This year however, I'm willing to bet almost everyone will get gift cards. We'll be moving into our new house Nov. 1st...I will barely have time to unpack and put up Christmas decorations much less worry about early shopping! I wish I could start now but I'm not storing or moving gifts!

AlexsPajamaMama replied: Well I will be 8mons pregnant in December so I want all my shopping done asap! I already have a few things put away for Alex-clothes I got onsale and some art stuff.

MommyToAshley replied: Christmas??!!! already!

I wish I could be more proactive in this department. I am such a procrastinator when it comes to Christmas. I'm the fool shopping on Christmas Eve. It's just hard for me to think of Christmas when it's 78 degrees out and the leaves have barely started to change colors.

mckayleesmom replied:
I'm the same way.

DillsMommy replied:
Me too!
Every year I say I'm going to start early--but it never happens. I just get more into the gift giving/buying mood the closer it gets to Christmas. With the snow, Christmas commercials, Santa's at the mall, Christmas carol's on the radio. I love it.

Nina J replied: I usually put it off too, but I hope this year will be different.

I am going to wait until Christmas is closer to shop for dh, the kidsand close friends and family. But for other relatives/friends, I always end up getting them one of those hamper things they always have around christmas with soap and body wash in it. I hate getting those things so I don't know why I buy them, probably because it's easy laugh.gif

Brias3 replied: I always have good intentions but rarely get around to hopping into shopping gear early enough to beat the crowds wacko.gif

As far as ideas go, maybe you could put together some movie baskets. I usually include some bags of popcorn, theater boxes of candy, a couple of sodas, and either some DVD's or a GC to Blockbuster or something. It always seems to be recieved well, and is not gender specific either.

moped replied: Usually by this time I am done shopping! Not htis year, that is why I have to go back to work! tongue.gif

mommymommy replied: gift cards!!
Also amazon.com is having some really great deals on toys right now if you need anything in that category

lisar replied: I always start early also. I normally just pick up little things here and there for the girls

Sam & Abby's Mom replied: I'm so excited for Christmas this year - Sam will be 4 and Abby will be 2-1/2. What awesome ages!!!!!! I started shopping in July tongue.gif
