Duplex update...disappointing
Lily wrote: Hi y'all, I've just got to say that I have no idea how in the heck this leasing agent could show the place in the condition it is! It was terrible. Yes, it's in a good neighborhood but apparently this is the ghetto spot right in the middle of the good neighborhood. You turn off the mainroad and onto a small alleyway. No room for 2 cars. One would have to back up and wait to get in or out. The outside was hideous! Peeling and cracking paint, some water damage around the washer/dryer area, and the fence was leaning off to one side. The inside wasn't much better. There were dead pillbugs (rolly pollies--the little black bugs that roll up) and dead roaches all over the place. In every room. The carpet was terrible. Hadn't been cleaned at all. Not even vacuumed it looked like. There were outlets in the walls that appeared to have some use at some point but as of now were just raw and open. Almost everything I touched wiggled. Like the shelves, wall plates, ect.. I'm just mindboggled that they could show this place in the condition it's in!! It's rediculous! So the search continues. I have an appt. with a leasing agent tomorrow for another duplex. It's in a different area but still an okay one. It doesn't have a garage (has a carport) but the backyard is bigger and it appears to look cleaner and better maintained. Anyway!! I'm off to get my laundry from the dryers. Talk to y'all later! Goodnight if I don't come back!
Elle replied: Wow, that's awful! That agent has no shame I hope the next duplex is better than the last one. Good luck!
A&A'smommy replied: aww that sucks! But maybe the other is a LOT better. Good luck!
Lily replied: It was awful! I think you pegged the agent. No shame at all. Thanks for the good luck wishes!
Lily replied: Thanks Jessica!
Kaitlin'smom replied: what a bummer, what do people think, that is so grose. I hope the next one is better.
mummy2girls replied: Man that is horrible! I hope you have better luck!
aspenblue1 replied: That is horrible hopefully the next one is better.
jem0622 replied: Sorry to hear about this disappointment. Hope you find something soon!
coasterqueen replied: That stinks! It sounded so promising What did the leasing agent think you would just fall over with excitement for a place like that? Go figure! Good luck with the next viewing! I hope it's better
Lily replied: I really don't know what she was thinking. If I had to guess I'd say she's counting on someone to be desparately in need of a home so they'll just roll over and take it. Not me! I have choices! And I'm using them! lol Thanks for the good luck!
kit_kats_mom replied: Bummer. I'm sure you will find something suitable soon.
I know that when I was renting, I lived in some really crappy, rundown places. I just went in and scrubbed and worked with what I had. LOL I can't believe how bad some of them were though. In one apt, I actually had to move my bed because the house was tilted and I kept rolling downhill out of bed. It's amazing what people will do when they are desperate and broke.
Good luck and happy hunting.
jen replied: That really stinks! Just keep looking, the right house is out there! You will find it!! I have my fingers crossed for you!
Are you searching on a Real Estate Website??? I know in Houston we have HAR.com it is the Houston Association of Realtors and EVERY single house listing for renting or for sale is on there all over Houston and Greater Houston.
Maybe they have something like that in your area. That is how we found our house .
Good Luck Sweetie!
