Dr Appointment this afternoon

Bee_Kay wrote: Today, she is 3 days past her EDD.
I went with her to her Dr. appointment this time.

The doctor checked the baby on the monitor... everything is great!

She also got an internal exam... still no change- 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. She was soooooo disappointed. this is one stubborn baby wink.gif

Inducement was brought up, and the Dr said that if there isn't a baby by next week, then inducement will start probably next Tuesday.

BF was also there. He made a few comments that made the Dr go blink.gif ... like stuff that made no sense at all.... I could tell Lacy was pretty embarrassed. Finally, she looked at him and said "Please.... just don't talk!". (She was slightly annoyed after finding out that effacement and dilation hasn't progressed).

Bee_Kay replied:
OK.... as a mother, as difficult as it was... I told her (in the best "for educational purposes only" type voice emlaugh.gif ) about how DTD does/can help get things going, sometimes LIKE RIGHT NOW.

Her response, I am in no $%^&*( mood for THAT!

Maybe after her disappointment today, she might change her mind. BUT, I also told her that *IF* they choose the DTD path, I'd really rather be left in the dark about that!! emlaugh.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: emlaugh.gif Barb!(nipple stimulation works too BUT takes alot longer and can be really irritating emlaugh.gif Did the doc say anything about the swelling? Tell her to try to drink as much water through her as she can stand to...It won't help bring on labor but it may help with her hands and feet! There are several herbal remedies-cohosh for example will help stimulate labor but it should be used spareingly and is best under the advise of a herboligist (call your local health food store) Evening primrose oil is also a big help (it is massaged into the cervix) Red Rasberry leave tea will also strenghen the cervix and can aid in dialation....I hope she gets some relief soon and that sweet baby shows her face! wink.gif

luvmykids replied: rolling_smile.gif Barb, you crack me up!!!

KUP, I'm expecting some big news from you very soon! hug.gif

CantWait replied: Sorry there's still no progression. There is light at the end of the tunnel though. It won't be much longer. hug.gif hug.gif

Glad she finally told bf to buckle it.

Bee_Kay replied:
Yeah, I told her about the stimulating the nipples.... she said "OMG I'd feel so stupid sitting around here doing that!". I explained to that it DOES help... and if nothing else, she will be "toughened up" a bit for BFing.

I also heard about using herbal type things, but wasn't sure how effective it is.

She drinks ALOT of water during the day. When she isn't drinking water, she is chewing on ice. She eats ice like she is addicted to it.

Thanks! smile.gif

luvmykids replied:
I did that during both pg's, I thought it was because I wasn't smoking but found out it was low iron levels. I would go out of my mind if I didn't have ice to chew.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Eating ice is a sign of anemia-something I have become VERY familier with lately dry.gif sad.gif Get her some floradex ASAP! It is at your local healthfood store and it will boost her levels quicker then pills but she is going to need to get her levels up before delivery if at all possible...also try and get a good B complex. Herbals can be very effective but stay away from castor oil-it will cause cramps blink.gif but not uterine ones and the last thing you want is stomach upset during labor! unsure.gif

Bee_Kay replied:
What's floradex?

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Floradex is a liquid Iron suppliment that is much more absorbable than the ferris sulfate iron in traditional iron pills-it will not bring on any of the bad side effects of iron-pills....If she is on a pre-natal with Iron she would not be able to tke it tho...you don't want to double up on Iron....

Bee_Kay replied:
I'll let her know.
She isn't taking prenatal vitamins (they make her pukey), so I suggested (and her doctor agreed) that she take Flintstones vitamins. I'll ask her if there is iron in them. Thanks!
