Insanemomof3 replied: I have been on it several times, and had NO problems with it. Didn't get pregnant while on it, didn't bleed AT ALL and didn't gain weight. It does different things for different people. Everyone is different you got to remember that, it may work great for you, but horrible for 100's of other women. Just keep that in mind.

PrairieMom replied: I have heard bad things, but don't have personal experieance with it. A co worker of mine went off it and it took her nearly a year to get PG.

mckayleesmom replied: I personally would never take it because I get mild reactions out of them the couple times I was on any bc...mainly mood swings. I would rather throw a pill away and stop taking it, but the depo is in your system till it wears off and I don't like that.

I also knew 1 girl who got preggo twice on it and her sister also got pregnant on it.

CantWait replied: I was on it for a year, gained about 20 lbs easy if not a bit more. I did not have my period at all while on it, and did not get pregnant. My doctor told me right off the bat that if I had plans of getting pregnant, that it was not the choice for me as it can take a year after coming off it.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine... it took her a year just to get her AF back, and over a year to get pg. I have another friend who got pregnant while on it.

wcs40110 replied: Wow, stastics are 97-99.7% effective so it's crazy that so many people got preggers, especially since they say it takes up to a year to get prego afterwards.

My2Beauties replied: I would suggest the IUD I think it's safer and more effective. I've known 2 girls to get prego on the depo shot not to mention gained weight and my cousin's hair fell out while on it

danahas4monkeys replied: I was on it for 4 years had no bleeding, didn't get pg on it in fact it took 2yrs after I went off it to get pg. I gained a ton of weight on it!

Mommy2BAK replied: I was on the depo shot for a couple of years and loved it. A shot every 3 months as opposed to a pill everyday? Sign me up! And once I got off the shot it took me 6 months to concieve. If I weren't having something permenant done later this year in terms of birth control I would go back to it.
