Does this sound like overscheduling?
ammommy wrote: I don't think so, but some parents are surprised, so I'd see what you all thought. Here is Alec's schedule for Sept- Thanksgiving
Monday--swim lessons Tues 8:30-11 preschool Tues 3:45-4:30 Ice Skating Wed: Kid's gym while mommy works out for a couple of hours in the AM Friday 8:30-11 Preschool Saturday 8:30-9:30 soccer
I think that leaves plenty of free time, especially since wed is just free play. What do you guys think?
gr33n3y3z replied: how old is Alec?
luvbug00 replied: Personally For us it would be alot. I think you know what your child can handle and if it turns out to be too much you can always pull him out of a thing or two Have fun!!
ammommy replied: Sorry, he's almost 4. Each activity, other than preschool, is about 45 minutes.
gr33n3y3z replied: I dont think so just as long as he wants to do it
kimberley replied: i think it's okay, but agree to take your cues from your son. if he seems overstimulated, then drop one or two things. if not, enjoy
ediep replied: I actually like like things to do each day, so I think its fine. Jason would be fine with that schedule and he is younger than ALec. I am sure that Alec is going to enjoy it
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I agree you need to take cues from your son. I hope he has lots of fun this fall! Let us know how the sports go.
amymom replied: First I agree take your ques from him. If he is overdoing it you will know.
Second, when written like that it looks like alot. But really it is Preschool 2 days a week, (some 4 yr old programs are 5 days) then it is swim lessons, soccor and Ice Skating so three activities. The Weds. is really just you going to the gym.
IMO that is easy for a 4 yr old to take.
b&bsmom replied: I agree it all depends on you your child and your family. My soon to be 3yr old son is doing preschool mon and wed and then bowling on sat. My six yr old does school every day and then dance on wed and bowling on sat. It may seem like a lot to some but my guys enjoy their activites and it works well for us. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
MommyToAshley replied: I agree with others, if he is enjoying all of them then I say it is fine.
I worry about Ashley in too many activities, but she loves it. She was in Kinder dance, but begged me to put her in gymnastics with her cousin. SO, now she has kinder dance, gymnastics, preschool two days a week, and Sunday school. I am just going to wait and see how she does with all of them at once.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I htin it`s fine... it`s not like it's all day every day - only for a short time each day.
I`m sure Alec will be fine!!
ammommy replied: Thanks. It 's nice to get some reassurance. I know it sounds like a lot, but really, it's not when you think about it. My one concern is Tuesday with preschool in the AM and ice skating in the afternoon, but we'll see how it goes.
A quick funny story about the ice skating. I gave him the chance to choose between 3 activities and he chose ice skating (3 days in a row). I mentioned it to the IL's and they gave me a funny look. DH said "hey, he can't play hockey unless he knows how to skate " (mostly kidding about the hockey, BTW). When I went to register him, a mom and dad were in registering their boy for activities. Mom wanted to register DS for ice skating and dad was balking. I mentioned the same thing DH did and dad felt better. Geez...it's not like they are dressing up for figure skating or the Ice Capades
