but it has something to do with that woman and a decision she made

and he pushed her away and shut her out that is why they ended. but they don't ever elaborate on it

Last week's episode shocked me! Can you believe that lady! Having an affair, risking her life because of it! She made me mad!

Yes, they did last year.
He went to the hospital with leg pain, couldn't figure out immediately what was wrong. It ended up being either a clot or infection (don't remember). He wanted to let it pass on it's own because the alternative was amputation and he was like "h$#l no!. However, that was extremely painful and he asked to be put into a drug induced coma to get past the worst of the pain. It turns out that there was another option somewhere between amputation and letting it pass on it's own, but he didn't like that option either because there was a chance that he'd lose the use of his leg and would probably be in constant pain. Hwever, if he didn't do something, he would probably die.
The lawyer who got away was his current girlfriend and was his legal medical proxy. When he went into the coma, she OK'd the procedure even though she knew it would probably be the end of the relationship. He woke up extremely, um, angry. They fought. She left. He has mobility in his leg, but needs the cane to walk. They ended last season showing him trying to walk without the cane and I really thought he was going to try PT this year. Maybe next??
