Does anyone here do upromise?

MommyToAshley wrote: upromise

I had seen this about a year ago, and was going to join and I forgot about it until now. I am a little nervous about registering my cc with them. Anyone belong to upromise? What has been your experience? Is it worth it?

jdkjd replied: We just registered recently. One of my favorite restaurants plus our favorite grocery store (Publix) are featured stores.

Really haven't been on it long enough to give a good answer. But I have my mom and DH registered too, I figure it can't hurt and it doesn't cost any extra. Almost every online store is on there too.

amynicole21 replied: I'm signed up, but for some reason cannot register my debit card with them. We don't use credit cards, so my debit card would be the only one that we would need to register... can't figure out what the problem is. dunno.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
FYI. As a former "bank person". I would highly reccomend getting one credit card for online purchases and such. Using a debit card online (and registering it for other things like UPromise) can open you up for major problems. A thief only has to use it as a credit card instead of the debit card option at most points of sale and online. They don't need your pin number and just sign the reciept. Someone could totally drain your checking account before you know anything is missing....trust me, I've seen it happen more than once. With a credit card, you don't lose all of your money and the bill will be disputed if you have a problem whereas with your debit card, most banks won't put the money back into your account until the fraud is proven which can take months.

ediep replied: we do upromise too. SO far we haven't had any problems and we have seen the $$$ start to add up.

momof2girls replied: I do it, really only at Publix where we always shop, they will send something in the mail to show how much has been added up, I think its worth it.

3_call_me_mama replied: We are registered, and we have the mobil speed pass thing so our gas goes on there. And with the price of gas lately ds and dd are going to go to college for free! My parents and inlaws are also registered and they each have the citibank upromise card and they use them A LOT! so the money is really adding up on those!! We've never had any problems with them and our debit cards or any other credit card we've used.

jen replied: We have maddy signed up as well. We have all our grocery cards like Kroger and Randalls and both credit cards, gas cards and all our families credit cards, gas cards, and grocery cards. I figure by the time maddy is 18 if this will pay for one semester of college or at least the books tongue.gif it is worth it! They even email you your statements every so often! And at our grocery store the brands that are involved have a label next to them.

coasterqueen replied: We use upromise. I think we've been members for about a year now (or a bit less) and we've accumulated around $25. Not much but we buy all our gas at the one place that takes it. We figured any help towards college is better than nothing. Even if it only adds up to a few books wink.gif.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I am also signed up have been for a few years with my nephews but most of the money now goes to Kaitlin. She has about $30 so far not much but I am hoping it will continute to grow and buy her books for a year, something will be better than nothing

SweetPea84 replied: I joined new upromise its pretty good I registered Grocerycards and debt cards .I have 4 month old daughter and i will be able toi put her in college with this. they don't take any money from you they only take a percentge from the store. I personlly think it is well worth it. I would defintly tell moms about it.

MommyToAshley replied: Thanks everyone for your input. I am definitely going to sign up. I see Circuit City is on the list.... I think DH keeps them in business. LOL. smile.gif
