Does anyone have a Saturn - I just bought a used one..

I was going to buy a little Ford Focus.. but found this Saturn.. it's used 02 model.. but it is a one owner, low miles.. leather interior. front and side airbags.. all kinds of extra's. It drives awesome. I just wondered if anyone else.. has good or bad to say about them?
coasterqueen replied: I don't know anything about it, but I test drove a Ford Focus (years ago, though) and I'd pick a Saturn over a Ford any day.
Congrats on your new car.
mckayleesmom replied: I had an 03, 4 door. I HATED that car...I really hated the break system. The driving was fine, but really watch the breaks Mel and pray that the radiator always stays perfect because it is $$$ to fix. Mine blew up and it cost 1000 dollars for my dad to find a used radiator and put it in himself....It cost too much for the dealer one. Also, check to see if the brakes were ever recalled...I remember that some of the years were recalled.
MyLuvBugs replied: What type of Saturn?
I've got a Saturn Vue 2002, Manual, 4 Cylinder....it sucks and will be sold here next month if I have anything to say about it.
Don't get me wrong...it's been a great car, but it's too small now, and the fact that it's a 4 cyl. Manual.....drives me and DH nuts. Gotta have more power...*grunt* *grunt* *grunt*
TANNER'S MOM replied: It's the Saturn SL2 02 Model..
it's Automatic.. and I wanted the 4cylinder.. for a reason. I drove over 70 miles per day.. gas 3.10 a gallon.. and it gets 35 miles to the gallon. Beats the heck out of the truck or even the mini van. I was ready for a step down in size. I want to be sporty again. I have no car seats to lug around.. and Brittany has her own car.. so I am good there!
MyLuvBugs replied: Well Saturns can be great cars, but just make sure that the dealership doesn't over charge you on repairs or stuff. That's happened to me twice....now it's my Brother and Jiffy Lube that look at the car. LOL
mckayleesmom replied: That is the model I had Mel, but the 03 one. Definantly check the breaks to make sure they were not recalled...
Kaitlin'smom replied: well lets see DH has a 98 saturn SL1. We loved it so much in 2000 I bought my first new car a Saturn SL1 LOVED that car got awsome gas milage. I then got a 05 Saturn Relay last year and LOVE that car. We have had great experiences with Saturns as have MANY family members.
JP&KJMOM replied: I had a friend that had one and she loved it and never had one problem with hers. Just wanted to say congrats on the 'new' car and hope it helps you save on gas too.
holley79 replied: Congrats on the new Saturn. I want a Vue.
Bee_Kay replied: Thanks for posting this Mel.
I've been thinking about getting either a Saturn or a Toyota Camry.
Boys r us replied: I've never owned one, but I've always heard good things about them!
Plus..I see lots of older ones on the road..so they must really hold up well!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Normally Saturns are pretty good little cars. I wouldn't think you would have trouble out of it. The Ford Focus is also a good little car...absolutely nothing wrong with those. Either would have been a great choice.
Now if you are trying to choose between a Saturn and a Toyota (Barb)...that's a big difference. Hands down you need to go with the Toyota.
I'm no expert on cars, but this is the advice my DH would give and he's been in the car business for 15 years. He's kind of an expert.
kimberley replied: i hope you have better luck with yours than i have had with mine. we have a 2001 saturn sl2. it is the 10th anniversary edition with all the extras. it looks pretty but it is a hunk of junk. we have only had it about 3 years and i have replaced the transmission, the engine, power steering pump, brakes (and they are in need again!), not to mention the myriad of other little problems we have faced. all in all we have put about $5-6,000 in repairs in 3 years.. a little less than i paid for the car. my mechanic (i stopped going back to dealership) said it is THE worst engine he has ever seen and i would have been better off with a K-car lol. he said they are disposable cars. work good for the first 2-3 years then completely fall apart. and i stopped going to the dealership because they were totally gouging us for shoddy work and would not even fix the mistakes they made. horrifying experience for me. my next car will be japanese. good luck.
