Doctor stuff

Bee_Kay wrote: Lacy went into the hospital this afternoon because when she woke up, late in the day, her feel and lower legs were blue-ish colored.
The doctor checked her and said that it is just a part of pregnancy and to stay off her back... lay on her left side.

Also, he asked when she was due.... 2 days ago. He checked the heartbeat and made the comment "This baby IS ready".

He also made the comment "If anything happens tonight... COME RIGHT BACK IN". He repeated that statement like about 4 times.

He also told Lacy that since she has an appointment tomorrow morning to talk to her doctor about inducement, since the pregnancy is getting to be VERY uncomfortable now (Lacy said she might be interested in inducing since she has been dilated for so long and is having ALOT of painful contractions, but still aren't regular).

My question is.... could the doctor somehow tell that tonight could be the night by that kind of exam? (listening to the heartbeat, asking questions, ect. and that he talked about "tonight" a few times)

My feeling is the baby will come when it is time. Unless artificial methods are used to spur the action of the baby, then that is the case. Otherwise, when the grand entrance is scheduled that is when it will happen. That of course unless she goes 2 weeks post dd, then all bets are off waiting for the baby.

There may be a way for the doctor to have known for certain.

I would hate to see that he was wrong and she was getting her hopes up to be able to meet this baby, and then all hopes fall through until another day. sad.gif

Continued well wishes for her comfort during this, the final hours/days of this PG. hug.gif

1lilpeanut2love replied: I just wanted to wish your SD well. I think the baby WILL be here soon. I was at 3 cm for almost a week and went to the hospital to give birth at 5 cm and it went quick after that.

holley79 replied: ELV for Lucy. Hopefully the baby will be here soon and give her body some relief. Then it will be on. happy.gif

CantWait replied: No answer, but wanted to wish her some ELV, and hope that the time really is soon. hug.gif

AlexsPajamaMama replied: ELV for Lacy when little baby decides to make her appearance!

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Did he say she was efaced or dialated any futher? It is hard to gage when you are examined by different people-everyone has a different 'measure' if you will....Did he thin the membranes? He may have felt the baby very low or may think she is engaged so he might be thinking it will be sooner then later! hug.gif ~~~~ELV~~~~ to Lacy! hug.gif Come on OUT baby!!! We all want to meet you!!! wub.gif

Bee_Kay replied:
that's what confused me.
He didn't give her an "internal".
He just asked a bunch of questions about BH contractions, groin pain, ect... and he listened to the baby's heartbeat.

punkeemunkee'smom replied:
He may just be trying to make sure that she listen to her body and come in quickly if something changes...You know maybe he felt that if he asked her some specific questions any changes in how she felt would be more noticeable to her...The baby's heartrate will slow somewhat when they engage so if he had acess to her chart (the OB's office usually has a partial in the hospital at this time) he may have noticed the change in heartrate. baby.gif Is she having any headaches or seeing light falshes when she stands up too quickly? With her leg involvement I would be concerned about Toxemia. Her blood pressure does not have be high in the beginning stages....If she goes much longer,I would step in at the doctor's office.if she will let you! hug.gif Good luck! hug.gif

JP&KJMOM replied: Oh Barb I hope you are holding that precious grandbaby soon. baby.gif ELV to Lacy too. Good Luck. hug.gif

Bee_Kay replied: Well.... no baby last night smile.gif

She us just a stubborn little bugger I guess.
Lacy has a checkup today at 2.

Bee_Kay replied: I forgot to add.
I asked Lacy about her interest in possibly inducing.

How she explained it to me is that it is no longer enjoyable. She is in so much pain now. The pelvic area is no longer merely uncomfortable, but painful. Her inner thighs are also making it difficult for her to perform normal everyday activities (more severe than normal pregnancy aches and pains).

Her toes, feet and fingers are also swollen most of the time. Her toes get freakishly swollen to the point where it is painful for her.

Plus... the doctor told her that as soon as the baby is born.... all that goes away.

So, I guess we'll see how it goes.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
Well with in 2 weeks anyway. I was underthe impression I woudl get my feet and legs back after birth but it was about 1-2weeks later I was finaly not swollen.

Hope little one comes soon

MommyToAshley replied: Glad to hear it was nothing serious. I was very uncomfortable at the end of my PG as well. Hang in there, it won't be long. Maybe tonight will be the night!

Sending some ELV!!!

holley79 replied: Bless her heart. It will go away just takes about 1 to 2 weeks. All depends how her body bounces back. I hope she is taking it easy.
