Do you use beauty products on your kids?
My3LilMonkeys wrote: Just curious...
I don't use hairspray or mousse or anything in Brooke's hair - I just figured she was too young (though I don't really know why I think that). Twice this week I have gotten comments from strangers that it wouldn't fall down so much (those little short pieces that always fly out, KWIM?) if I used hairspray.
So I just wondered if everyone else used that sort of stuff for their children.
As for other beauty products, I do paint Brooke's toenails for her - she loves having pretty toes. We haven't done fingernails yet but I am considering it for a party we are going to on Saturday. In a way I kind of think she's too young for that too though...but again, I don't know why.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Not here...but I probably would if I had a girl. Painting toenails together would be fun!
Ashlynn's Mommy replied: When it's picture day at school I will put Gel or hairspray in Cynthia's hair so it doesn't get messed up. But thats the only time I will do it. I think she is too young for that stuff.
CantWait replied: I don't like the idea of using products on children. Robbie (10) just started using gel in his hair this year, and not very often, he forgets most of the time, and using deoderant the last month (I don't know why, but he wanted to).
I don't see a problem putting nailpolish on little girls (about 2, maybe younger if they want it, but not just because mommy wants it).
PrairieMom replied: The boy gets a little gel for church if I wait to long to get his hair trimmed, but nothing else. He LOVES hair products tho, I always catch him trying to get into mine!
luvmykids replied: I have to on Macie, her hair is curly and frizzes if I don't, Kylie I do when I'm putting it in curlers, or the curls come straight out, and Colt gets a little gel if we want it spiked.
Both girls loooove to have their nails painted, as a special treat Kylie got a manicure with me last time I went.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: We use hairspray on Katy to keep her hair out of her face. Matt...he has as many styling products as I do right now his hair is buzzed but when it's longer he has 3 different kinds of spike stuff and then some surfer wax stuff. His hair is so fine and there is so much that w/o the glues his hair is a big puffy fro that blows in the wind. His favorite is the Red and he will get it for me in te morning and sit still when it's time to wash it out in the bath.
1lilpeanut2love replied: I admit every once in a while I will use a little gel in Kaylee's hair. She has awesome hair, I am just a hair product junkie. I have been since I was young.
I have been painting Kaylee's toenails since she was a baby. She is only 13 months now. I love doing it. It's hard, but I always manage to make them cute.
I am a girly girl myself I was into makeup when I was only 3!
kit_kats_mom replied: K gets her nails painted (fingers and toes) when I do mine. We started when she was about 3. I used hairspray once on her for pictures.
I use a leave in conditioner for Lauren. She has curls and they are just frizz if I don't. Of course i"m probably just doing something wrong. I don't really know what to do with curls.
redchief replied: Only when Erin was in gymnastics and dance did we use hair products. There wasn't much choice since there was always a "team" hair style for each event.
Ashlynn's Mommy replied: I let Cynthia get her nails, and toes painted when I go. She loves it. Around the house she puts play makeup on.
JP&KJMOM replied: I have to use them on Karlee's curls or we have frizz head in 5 minutes. She also always has polish on fingers and toes. She loves to wear lip gloss to but she is a big ole girlie girl and princess without a doubt.
BAC'sMom replied: I live with a princess enough said.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I am always painting Kaits toenails she loves it and she got her nails painted last time I had mine done. She loved the attention. I only use hair products when nessary. Or if the girls (the sitters daughter Alicia and her friend Lauren love to play with her and gabbys hair) do her hair they sometimes wil spray it. I do about once a week use reg conditiner in it to help manage the curls. Oh and she had been found using mommys blush
coasterqueen replied: Paint finger/toe nails...YES. Any other products...NO. I think Kylie is too young and she has her whole life to damage her hair with products. I never understood what my mom meant when she said I should use less Aqua Net on my hair and that I was going to damage my hair badly. Then I got out of the 80's, early 90's and stopped perming, hairspraying/geling, etc my hair and my hair is SO much healthier now. Course now I color/highlight my hair.
Bee_Kay replied: Ashley and Tyler are 13 and 15 so my answer is "absolutely yes".
Tyler only used face was and sometimes hair gel.
Ashley has a whole cosmetics department in her bedroom so I couldn't possibly begin to start naming it all.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: No I don't, but if I had a little girl I would paint her nails. Nothing else thought, like hair spray for hair damaging reasons as mentioned above.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I do the painting nails/toenails with the girls. Christian does not like to have her toenails painted, but that is the only difference. Occasionally lipstick or lip gloss goes on, but not often. I use a blush brush, but it has nothing on it. I can count on one hand between the two of them that I have used mascara on them.
I have no choice but to use hair products on the girls' hair. But I have never used hairspray or gel. I am considering using a leave in conditioner in their hair, but I might wait on that. I am still experimenting with hair conditioners to style their hair.
MyLuvBugs replied: Lorelei loves to watch me get ready (make-up and stuff). I remember doing the same thing to my mom when I was little too.
But the only thing she gets is chapstick. I tell her it's lipstick, and she'll pucker up for me to put it on. It's too cute.
luvmykids replied: Since I last posted here, Colt has become obsessed with his hair even though he wears his cowboy hat 24 hours a day. He like to put mousse in and spike it. All by himself, thank you very much.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Logan is a chapstick addict, just like his mama. I love the vanilla mint ones and apparently so does he. I just found one with teeth marks in it. But he will also pucker up and let me swipe some on for him.
My2Beauties replied: I have painted Hanna's toenails before, but it turned out to be an utter mess. I was so proud, she sat still the entire time and then I said ok let them dry, and whaddya know she gets up runs to the bathroom, takes a towel and rubs it acorss her toes, I said oh Hanna honey you have to let them air dry, when she was done she said see mommy they are dry now That girl! So after that I haven't done it since but I still want to, I think it looks so cute on little girls. DEsiree paints her toes all the time and her nails sometimes. She very seldom puts hairspray or anything in her hair unless we're going somewhere and her hair is all dolled up, like a wedding or something and she doesn't wear make-up at all, maybe lip gloss! We play beauty shop and I'll put blush and eye shadow on her with a light lip gloss but that is the extent of it. She looks much much older than she already does with make-up on, we won't go there Not to mention, she is starting to break out a little bit on her face, you know those teenage years and that oily skin so I tell her make-up will only make them worse. We make sure she washes her face and stuff at least once a day.
