Do you think it's disrespectful to the troops - To wear camoflauge?

luvmykids wrote: I couldn't believe it yesterday at the grocery store, a girl was wearing camoflauge print capri pants (not like army issue, like fashion cammo) and another lady completely ripped her a new one saying it was disrespectful to the troops in time of war.

I'd never really thought about it, it comes and goes as a fashion trend and I sure don't think anyone buys it thinking it's disrespectful.

It just made me wonder how many other people feel like the lady in the store did?

luvbug00 replied: are you serious?? that is just soo stuiped emlaugh.gif

MoonMama replied: I gotta second Nadia, if anything I'd think it was supportive. blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

My cousin is in Iraq and once a month we all wear camo pants with a yellow shirt by his request, to honor those over seas, those fallen soldiers, and those soldiers from our past. I've alwas thought it was kind of neat, I never thought we might actually be offending someone. unsure.gif blink.gif

PrairieMom replied: I don't think there is anything wrong with it. Its not like she was wearing a shite with a picture of a burning USA flag on it or something. rolleyes.gif Some people just have too much time on their hands.

lisar replied: I think it is supportive. Lexi wears camo all the time for Bobby. He is only in basic training right now but when she wears her camo pink or green camo she says that she wears it for her Bobby. As a matter of a fact she is wearing pink camo today. If someone would have said that to me I would have ripped them a new one. Thats just wrong.

Twelve Volt Man replied: I don't see anything wrong with it.

whitting713 replied: Morgan has a pair of camo print capris. I bought them because I knew grandpa (a big hunter) would like them. I didn't get them to honor or disrespect anyone in the military. I feel bad for the girl in the store.

Crystalina replied: Cammo is not only used for troops. rolleyes.gif DH has an entire wardrobe full of it as does DS and DD for that matter. I'm the only one who doesn't wear it much.

As a matter of fact when my parents were in the military they didn't even have cammo. It was all green or tan. That was it. I'm not sure when they added the cammo but in my military life there was none. That was awhile ago though. happy.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: nothing is wrong with it at all

moped replied: I sure hope not

jcc64 replied: I really don't understand how or why people feel the need to share unsolicited opinions with total strangers. Had someone done that to me, I would simply say, "Oh, I'm sorry, did I mistakenly give you the impression that your approval is important to me?!" mad.gif

I personally hate cammo print... Therefore I don't wear it myself. There are a lot of other things I feel the same way about.
I don't however feel the need to go around criticizing others for wearing it.
And exactly where did anyone get the idea that it's disrespectful? I could see if you were wandering around in full uniform and weren't actually a member of the military... but come on now...

Kaitlin'smom replied: If anything it would be supportive. One of Kaitlins swimsuits is pink camo, I dont think there is anything wrong with it, I might have had to had a not so nice commet to that lady, so people are RUDE

Mommy2Isabella replied: I have a brother over there, and I don't find it disrespectful at all. If the little girl had slander spray painted on them then it would be a different story. But just plain fashion camo pants ... GO USA! LOL smile.gif

Miranda1127 replied:
hahaha, thats great i might steal it biggrin.gif .

that poor girl. i wish some people would just mind thier own business. a wardrobe is hardly a threat to society so just leave it be.

Calimama replied: Nope, not disrespectful at all. When DH was in Iraq this past time he was saying that some of the Iraqi's were wearing Camo print USA shirts. wub.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I love camo. I have camo print shorts thumb.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Just another thing for someone to get a grundie over. Get real. I have a camo print tank top and I love it. If someone wants to rip me a new one for it, I'll rip them one back. tongue.gif So should the hunters not wear it anymore either??? rolleyes.gif

CantWait replied: I don't see anything wrong with it, but this would be a great conversation starter with dh. I'll have to ask him tonight.

luvmykids replied: Whew, I'm glad I'm not the only red blooded American who never even thought of it as a problem rolling_smile.gif

The poor girl in the store was probably only about 15 or 16, I think she was so shocked she didn't even know what to make of that lady.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Dang, that's ridiculous! Some people have a lot of nerve and not much brains to go with it.

CantWait replied: Well I brought it up with a number of facebook groups pertaining to military and no one sees anything wrong with it. I forgot to ask dh, tomorrow I'll have to remember. I'm sure if anything he'll just say it's stupid lol. rolleyes.gif
