Do you still have your tonsils?

I got mine taken out when I was a teenager. I was always getting tonsilitis, so they took them out. I had huge tonsils, it was so awesome after I got them out...I never knew you could swallow so much food at once Emily has big tonsils too, I think it's genetic or something.
The only bad thing is, if I get a sore throat and go to the doctor they'll look at it, say "You've had your tonsils out", then stops looking
Calimama replied: Yep still have mine. I hope they stay righhht where they are too!
quinnandjacob'smom replied: Still have mine and I'm hoping to keep them
luvmykids replied: There was a period when we thought I'd have to have them removed in high school but nope, still got em.
sparkys2boys replied: I have mine out but you know what I still get sore throats all the darn time.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I had mine removed around 8 or 9... I still get really bad throat aches though... they last for DAYS.
gr33n3y3z replied: I still have mine also
C&K*s Mommie replied: I do too. I was envious as a child though when all my friends in elementary school were getting theirs out, and were able to eat as much ice cream and jello as they wanted. Being a kid and getting unlimited ice cream was a big thing.
redplaydoh replied: I had mine out when I was 5... but I still get sore throats too.
One interesting thing we found out about Lucas. He has a Bifid Uvula and can never have his adenoids removed.
I found this to explain:
Bifid uvula: The uvula, the little V-shaped fleshy mass hanging from the back of the soft palate, is cleft or split. Cleft uvula is a common minor anomaly occurring in about 1% of whites and 10% of Native Americans. Persons with a cleft uvula should not have their adenoids removed because, without the adenoids, they cannot achieve proper closure between the soft palate and pharynx while speaking and develop hypernasal speech.
redchief replied: My tonsils were removed when it was common practice to remove them quickly, back in the 1960's.
skinkybaby replied: I accidentally voted no, but I meant yes! I did have my appendix removed when I was 4 though!
MotherForever2043 replied: I still have mine.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Odd story. I had mine out when I was 9 or so. I couldn't talk for a week and my mom had a bell I could ring if I needed something. Anyway, my grandmother had hers out when she was younger and apparently they grew back. Well, it must be genetic because one of my tonsils partially grew back as well. It's really only noticable when I am sick because it swells up. But I've gotten some really wierd looks from doctors before.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Yeah a cousin of mine has a grown-back tonsil. She's a pita and when she's sick, it's "so much worse".
amymom replied: I'm like Ed and had them out when it was common to take them. But it was also before antibiotics were very common and I had earaches & sore throats all the time. I believe I really needed them out. BUT my brother got his out at the same time (and he was never sick), so my mother could deal with the hospital and recuperation at once. Little did the docs know she was going to have 4 more kids to deal with later on
TheOaf66 replied: tonsils out once
adnoids out twice
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I still have mine. When I was a kid the doctor said I might have to have them out because I got strep throat so much, but then I stopped getting it.
JollyRainZoo46 replied: I got mine right where I left 'em--in the back of my throat!
