Do you re-gift?

Crystalina wrote: I don't but that's only because if I get something I don't need or will never use I stuff it in the closet. I feel bad getting rid of something someone got me but it's getting easier to slip it into a yard sale or rush it over the salvation army. LOL I don't do it alot but I have.

My mother on the other hand... wacko.gif ...so tacky. Not that re-gifting is tacky (to each his own) but she doesn't even take the old cards out sometimes! That is how I found her stash. She is a major re-gifter. Major! She used to hide the fact but when I opened up a box of glasses (drinking glasses...set of 6 blink.gif ) and found the original card in the box the gig was up. Now we know her stash and when we give her something and she opens it we all joke, "Hey! I want that for Christmas...put my name on it." because we know one of us or someone else will surely get it. emlaugh.gif

grapfruit replied: I don't do a TON of re-gifting. But I have had things that I didn't like but knew "so and so" would like. So I give it to them. I take the card out first! tongue.gif

Calimama replied: Too funny, no I don't. Only because I usually like my gifts too much. rolling_smile.gif

PrairieMom replied: I have and I will again, if it comes up. For some reason my MIL thinks I need a complete stationary set and cards at least twice a year. wacko.gif So my Grandma usually gets stationary for christmas. rolling_smile.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Yeah, sometimes. But not in a tacky way like that... and only if the gift is actually something I know someone would like and could use. Otherwise, I just either trash it or give it to salvation army.

kimberley replied: i do only if it's appropriate. like i won't re-gift golf balls to my SIL but if i get perfume she loves from my grandma.. surely, i would give it to her.

holley79 replied: Every year one of the guys here at work buys me something that is really nice but is SO not me. Oh yes, it gets re-gifted. I have re- gifted quite a few things. They are all really nice gifts but they are just not me.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I have, not often but I do. The same as most if its not me or my thing but I know someone who would love it, you bet I will pass it onto them.

luvmykids replied: No, either I love it enough to keep it, or would't subject anyone else to it rolling_smile.gif

Cece00 replied: Sometimes I do. I dont really think its tacky, unless you give the gift back to the original gift giver rolling_smile.gif But sometimes I get gifts I just wont use, so rather than throwing it or donating it, I will regift...

redchief replied: If by "regift" you mean giving to someone else a gift I received that I would not use, then yes. If by "regift" you mean wrapping up a gift another gave me as a gift for someone else, no, that's tacky.

MoonMama replied:
dito.gif rolling_smile.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I will give away stuff that I can't use but others can, however I don't wrap it up as a gift from me. Does that make sense?

Nina J replied: It makes sense smile.gif I do the same thing.

I know someone who gave a guy a birthday card, which he originally got. So it was like:

Dear Marcus John

From Geoff Marcus

(The underlined words means it was crossed out). He did it as a joke, it was pretty funny.
