Do you payyour groceries at one place and - other needs at another store?

TANNER'S MOM wrote: I went grocery shopping yesterday. I also had to have household things. Dog Food, dishwashing liquid, washing detergent. Now do you make two stops and save money at a Dollar Store or go to Wal-Mart!

I went to the Dollar General and I was thinking the whole time .. am I saving money?

moped replied: I bet you are saving actually.......I do some at WalMart, some at Safeway etc.................

Crystalina replied: I do EVERYTHING at Wal-Mart. Especially if DH is not with me, it's just easier that way. I even get new tires while I'm doing my grocery shopping. laugh.gif

I've tried looking for "deals" and saving money before but by the time I waste gas running after the deals it's just easier to do it all at one place.

My sanity is another reason, getting the kids in and out of the car and arguing with them about the candy at the check out counter... rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Sometimes it depends on what it is. Somethings are maybe $.50 cheaper at DG vs Wal-mart, other things as much as a dollar. Like the girls like mandarin oranges, they are smaller in can size vs Walmart, but I think overall it is a slight savings still.

Sometimes since DG is closer, I run in there to get small things that I need in a hurry without spending an arm and a leg like I would at Wal-mart. For things like paper plates and such, they are overall less expensive than Wal-mart.

Like DG's motto is: Save time, Save money. That money saved is the "extra" things I am not buying as I would at WM.

Kaitlin'smom replied: depends, sometimes if its one sale and I have a coupon I will get things like that at the grocery store, other wise I buy it else where cause its cheeper and I normaly have to get that stuff at a different time.

kayla's mama replied: We buy grocery's at the place where DH works and personal items at Walmart or Target. I don't think we save that much money because I end up buying more stuff rolleyes.gif

CosmetologyMommy replied: I go to Butera for the major stuff but Meijer if I need other stuff like toilet paper. I do not know if that reallty saves me because I use more gas going to Meijer.......

JAYMESMOM replied: I buy my groceeris usually at meijers or save alot. Most of time I buy the other stuff there as well. If I dont need it I dont get -- most quick runs are to farmer jacks. I find when I go to walmart or target for the essentials I usually spend more on other stuff.

coasterqueen replied: I buy my groceries at the grocery store - whichever one I have a $10 or $12 off coupon that week and then buy everything else at Target.

Brias3 replied: It depends. Sometimes I pick up things here and there from other places but typically, I buy all food type things at the grocery store and then other necessities ( from dishwashing stuff to shampoo to toilet paper) at Target.

AlexsPajamaMama replied: Food and things like toilet paper and shampoo at Walmart, Meats at the grocery store, and the one thing I do bet else where, at Big Lots, is Laundry Soap

My3LilMonkeys replied: Some of both. I buy a lot of household stuff at the grocery store, some at DG and some at Walmart if we are there. But I won't go all the way to Walmart just for house stuff, only if we need something else.

luvmykids replied: I buy all the expensive stuff in bulk at Sam's club and the rest at the grocery store. If I run out between trips I usually do go to WalMart or Target.

Cece00 replied: I buy everything @ one place. I dont have the time to be running around to more than one store, and if I have the kids, I dont have the extra patience rolling_smile.gif

holley79 replied: Hoenstly I one stop shop most of the time. Either at Wal Mart or the commisary. I think I would rather not have to stop, lug Annika out just to save a buck on laundry detergent

aspenblue1 replied: I buy all my cleaing stuff and diapers ect at costco or sams and then groceries at the grocery store.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: If I only need one thing, like paper towells or something, I'll get it while I'm at the grocery store. But usually I go to Wal-mart or Target for household stuff - some things are the same price at the grocery store but a lot of it is just a bit more and it adds up. wink.gif

I used to do my grocery shopping at Super Target, but now I live too far away. I really wish I had either a Super Target or Super Wal-mart close by!

MamaJAM replied: I'd assume you are saving that way.

I get groceries at the grocery store...and tissues (they seem to have the best prices on them). Things like diapers, wipes, TP, papertowels, odds-and-ends I usually get at Target. Sometimes I'll run to a dollar store-type place if I need something I know they have cheap (like wrapping paper).
