Do you have "me" time?
C&K*s Mommie wrote: If so when??
This may have been asked a gazillion times, but I am curious as to when you give yourself "me" time.
Now, late at night is for me to do as I please without distraction, also while the girls are down for naps. Chris has been great lately about sending me off into town to do whatever for however long I feel like it, or he will take the girls out so I can be alone at the house to collect my thoughts. Everytime, it is out of the blue, without any prompts from me. So I count that as unplanned "me" time too.
What about you??
Nina J replied: I tend to have alot of unplanned me time, as opposed to planned me time. DH will take both the girls, or just Emily, out for a few hours, or even when he has to run an errand. I've been so busy since Odessa was born I'm grateful for a half hour alone.
Night time is usually me time, but with Odessa I can be alone one moment and she'll be up the next.
Even when I'm on PC, I don't really have alone time. More often than not, Emily is sitting next to me or coming in and out or I'm holding Odessa. I've become a pro at holding a baby and typing
holley79 replied: HA what's me time?? I'm answer this when I finally get my real hours. My "me" time will probably be going to the gym after work. I can't wait to have time for that. I also want to go on Saturdays for a pedicure. I miss that prepregnancy.
Lynda836 replied: The only me time I had during mat leave was going to the gym or running with my running partner. I really didn't consider it me time because working out was "work" because I had to do it in preparation for going back to work. Tonight was the first me time I've had in awhile....and it was so great. I got together with a couple of girlfriends for a "girls night in"...no husbands around...had cheesecake and a few glasses of wine....it was so nice to have adult female conversation and have DH taking care of the baby.
mammag replied: I used to have more me time when I would go tanning or to the grocery on my own. Lately Chris has been going to the store with me and I don't tan anymore. I usually get it if I'm able to stay up later than everyone else. Sometime I wake up during the night even and will turn on a flash light to read because I want to take advantage of the quiet time. Of course, then I pay for it the next day.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Hmmmmm...me time? Well Wil takes pretty long naps in the afternoon, so I get to get stuff done around the house, get on here, or veg out if I really wanted too. But it's still not really me time exactly, only because I can't really get up and leave to go to the mall or get my nails done or do something that is really all about ME, kwim? Spending time alone around the house is great, don't get me wrong, but I would love to get out too! I did drop Wil off at DH's work yesterday afternoon so that I could go to Walmart alone, but again, it was to get grocery shopping done. Not really valuable me time I guess! I know that sounds selfish, but you all know what I mean, right? (hope so). DH does give me time on the weekends to go out on my own if I want. I did get a prenatal massage last weekend which, YES, is total me time! So there it is!
MommyToAshley replied: Most of my "me" time is spent working. I usually watch Ashley while DH works and vice versa. But, I don't mind. Every now and then, DH will take Ashley some place even when I don't have work to do. And, DH and I get to spend time together alone when MIL watches Ashley. I don't mind not having a lot of "me" time right now because I know it won't be long before Ashley doesn't want to have Mom around as much... I know I will miss these days.
aspenblue1 replied: No I wish I did but I do not have any me time. Isabella really doesn't take naps anymore so evertime Kyrsten is napping I am playing with Belle but I love it.
BAC'sMom replied: Ha what is me time! My answer would be NO.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yep, I have me time. I have more now than I ever had. I'm happier, healthier and a lot easier to be around these days, too.
Scotty has been great about watching the kids when I want to go out with my girlfriend(s). It isn't often, but it's so nice to be able to do that every now and then. I don't get much 'me' time at home, but I go to the gym for 2 hours everyday and LOVE that time b/c I work out with 2 of my friends and we chat before, during and after our workouts.
My3LilMonkeys replied: My me time is between 10pm and 11:30 pm Mon thru Thurs, after Brooke goes to bed and before DH gets home. I usually spend about half of it cleaning and half doing whatever I want.
MomtoPate replied: Yep, I get "me" time quite often. When Dh gets home from work, we eat dinner and then after I clean up, that is usually "me" time...the boys are playing together and I usually sneak off to the office and either play games, come here, or watch tv. That usually last for about 30 minutes to an hour until they come in and insist that I spend some time with them as well....but I do get some "me" time and I love it!!
luvmykids replied: Good way to think about it, Dee Dee!
I count night time as "me" time, but lately I've had a few hours on Wed and Fri too, which has been awesome!
Lynda836 replied:
I so know what you mean. I don't consider it "me" time when I'm at home even if I'm I have a spare moment when DS is asleep. Because when I'm home even if I'm taking a breather, I'm still thinking of the stuff that needs to be done...and any second I might have to go back to the baby. When I'm out doing errands by myself....the errands are on my to do list so its not a break.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I dont really get ME time to relax and do whatever I want.
The time I don't have Alex around like nap time or when he goes with Nana....I'm either grocery shopping, doing housework or cleaning at my Dads house.
The only time that I really have to myself to just chill out is at night after 9:30pm when DH leaves for work, but by then I just lay in bed and watch TV before I fall asleep.
A&A'smommy replied: oh me too yes I love "me" time actually I don't know what I would do without it, because honestly it helps me appreciate my family and life SO much more. I try not to worry about the house anymore in fact its a mess right now but as I tell my friends between my life (which is finally starting to calm down) a two year old and a husband who leaves a trail of stuff wherever he goes its very hard to keep the house clean for longer than a couple of hours.. or at the most a day or two. So I try not to worry about little things.. I actually look forward to cleaning day (or days) because I don't worry about it and because my me time helps me relax and get it done.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Yes I do and all I have to do for it is say I am in the restroom Mommy will be right there! I have been tanning so about 7 minutes in the bed and then I watch my friends baby while she tans. It sounds good but when I do get the chance I actually find myself wishing to be doing something with Bill and Tay over being alone! The day will come soon enough when she will want "me" time of her own So I am good with waiting on mine too!
Mommy_Michele replied: Are you kidding? The only "me" time I have is bed-time.
mummy2girls replied: me tinme? Thats a foreign word to me...LOL
I usually have me time when jenna is in bed at night.
Mommy_Michele replied: LOL. Same here. Sigh
moped replied: Me time? What's that?
I don't feel like I do. I work full time and then race home to see Jack and on weekends I do everything for him and the house. If I go shopping I take Jack. He does however go to bed at 7, so I can clean up from dinner and maybe watch a show or something
coasterqueen replied: I probably could get "me" time, but I'd rather have that time with Dh, so I guess technically I don't get a lot of me time at all. I don't mind, though, because I enjoy time with hubby. Sometimes Dh will suggest I go in town to run a quick errand while he keeps the kids at home, but that's work.
coasterqueen replied: I feel the same way. One day soon both my girls will be in school, wanting to spend time with their friends, etc so I'm willing to wait for that "me" time.
Funny thing is Kylie is already asking here and there to go spend the night with one of her grandparents and so then of course the grandparents beg to have Megan too....so then Dh and I get "me" time together then.
Ashlynn's Mommy replied: I never have me time. I love my baby but a little me time would be wonderful!!!
luvbug00 replied: I have "me" time every friday night and without it i would go
boyohboyohboy replied: My husband offers me, "me time" all the time, but I dont leave the house, I go to take a bath or read or play on the computer, but if I hear the kids crying I always stop and go get them. I dont know that I ever have true me time then, but its just mins. here and there.... I figure in the future when the kids grow up either into teenagers or adults, then I will wish for more kid time, thats what I tell myself when I am feeling a little shut in.... It also does feel good sometimes to know that there is a real purpose for me in the house, somethings only mommy can do!
My2Beauties replied: I"m having me time right now My mom has Hanna for the night and DH had to work second shift today, so after I dropped Hanna off around 3:30, I went to the Dollar Tree and got a bunch of swimming pool toys for the kids for next weekend (we're going to visit my dad in Alabama and he has a pool) then I went to the mall and finally spent the money that DH got me for our anniversary, I bought work clothes though I hated to do it but I needed some badly. All the nice work shirts I had were long sleeves and it's burning up in my building.
Other times I guess it's just whenever Hanna is asleep or napping and I get stuff done around the house. DH and I will sometimes drop Hanna off at the IL's house and go out to a nice quiet dinner. We don't take Hanna out to eat at really nice restauratns all the time because boy is she loud!!!
CantWait replied: Hardly ever, or it's very late at night, but even then I stop whatever I'm doing to check on laundry, or fold or whatever.
Our Lil' Family replied: Yep, every night. That's why I love that Thomas goes to bed at 7pm, that way I don't feel guilty for leaving him with DH or someone else, he's here in his bed AND I get me time. I usually go relax in the tub (on my way after this) or play online, and DH and I watch movies if he doesn't have to study.
Starting Thursday I will have 5 hrs. a week (on Thursdays) of Mother's Day Out for the summer and I CAN'T WAIT!! Lunch with girlfriends without kids?? Not sure I remember what that's like!!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Good for you Naomi!!!
Ethan will start preschool this fall for 2 days a week, 5 hours a day. OMG! I can't wait!! I will have more time to volunteer at Maddie's schoool (or not). I can go eat with friends, go grocery shopping in peace. Ahhhhhhh! It's been far too long.
luvmykids replied: I use a mothers day out here, I love it! I can take them any M,W or Fri from 9-4.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Dollar Tree!
Our Lil' Family replied: Isn't it the greatest!
We have several programs here but the one I use is at our church, it's just during the summer because they use youth along with a few adults. Our pastor's wife does it for us (at a really cheap price) because she said she never had that when her girls were young and she wants us to have that time for ourselves. I love that woman!!
ilovemybaby replied: When Abby is napping and when she goes to bed at night... that's about it. Unless my hubby offers to watch her so I can take a nap or something.
