Do you guys think DH is pulling my chain

My2Beauties wrote: OK so everyone knows by know it is my dream to get a digi cam w/ printer for CHristmas this year rolleyes.gif . So this is the ONLY thing I asked DH to get me, but really I haven't done lots of research on cost and things, I figured maybe $350 tops for both which is about what I will spend on him give or take a litlle bit. I didn't take into account the cartridges and paper that goes with them though unsure.gif I have no idea how much this stuff costs but anywhoo, yesterday DH picked me up from work and told me that he felt really bad but he didn't think he could get me a digi cam for Christmas because he didn't think we could afford it, but that he did find me something that he knows for a fact I will fall in love with. He is really good at this type of stuff and has tricked me so many times with presents I can't even count 'em. He really got me good when he proposed, long story! But anyways - so my question is he said that all together with the camera, printer, cartridge and the photo paper it was $600 or more, is this about right? If so, I can totally see him telling the truth, but I could have swore I have seen all these things for cheaper than that together, but like I said I haven't researched them a whole lot. Do you guys think he is pulling my leg? huh.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: he very well could be, depending on the quilty of all involved as to how much it cost. I do hope he found an awsome deal and is pulling your chain

moped replied: ACTUALLY I DON'T THINK HEIS BECAUSE I WOULD SAY THAT ALL THAT WOULD BE AT LEAST $600, AND IF YOU WANT A DECENT QUALITY SET THEN YOU ARE LOOKING AT WAY MORE. sO, I WOULD THINK HE IS TELLING THE THRUTH. OUR DIGI CAM WAS $1000.00 JUST FOR THE CAMERA.

Sorry about the caps - I am doing a project in caps!!!!!

I hope is fibbing you though

C&K*s Mommie replied: Although my DH bought the digi cam apart from the printer dock (which I bought and that I have never used). The total was near $200. Only because I got the printer dock off of ebay. But if he is looking at the standard Kodak Easy Share 4mp, you could get everything you need for around maybe slighty less than $350. The 5mp may be slightly more than $350, including everything.

mckayleesmom replied: Maybe...Im not sure...My camera was over and printer were about 4,000 all together...I got them for xmas. But Im sure you can get them for about 350

C&K*s Mommie replied: Do you mean $400, Brianne???

My2Beauties replied:
ohmy.gif $4000 Holy baloney - I'll never get a one then! rolling_smile.gif

moped replied:
My car isn't even worth that!

mckayleesmom replied:
No...I mean 4,000.....I have the newest Nikon, plus every possible thing that comes with it...remote, tripod, other lenses, and a bunch of stuff I don't know how to use. And I got the Epson Stylus photo printer with the built in copier and scanner.....My dh went a little overboard last year.

I got him a new electric razor blink.gif ...The camera is super nice, but I still want a little one too...a pocket one.

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
This is what I want....to match my professional 35mm. tongue.gif It will be awhile.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: LeaAnn I think Brian is pulling your chain. You can easily get a Kodak Easy Share with printer dock for $350. They also have a HP and several other brands for reasonable prices.

Scotty does this same thing to me all the time. tongue.gif

My2Beauties replied: biggrin.gif Tee hee, thank you Aimee. I just went out to Best Buy's website which is where he said he went and GET THIS - I saw the Kodak easy share printer dock and camera for under $350 for both of them and the man had ther nerve to tell me the glossy photo paper was $70 - which I knew had to be a lie, it was $19.99 tongue.gif He is so lying to me you guys! Oh I love him rolleyes.gif I won't be totally dissapointed if he doesn't get me one because well whatever he gets me is special, but God I would so kiss his butt for months to come if he got me my digi cam! I have wanted one for sooooooooooooo long!

MommyToAshley replied: It depends on the quality of the camera. There are consumer end digital cameras for $79 and digital cameras for $1,500.

Don't you hate it when they keep us guessing, I hope you find a camera you like.

mckayleesmom replied:
This would be good for you....My dh can take awsome pictures with it, but I can't....mine always look crummy because I don't know when the flash would work well for a shot...and all that jazz....thats why my pictures always look crummy. We also have this extra flash thing that goes on the top...like a professional camera...you can shine the light at something.....I don't have a clue how to work any of this stuff.

mckayleesmom replied: I want one of those little printers that you dock the camera in and it shoots the pics out.......BTW..I don't know how to use our printer either laugh.gif . I want it for scrapbooking.....they are giving one away at the PX and Im hoping they call my name... laugh.gif

coasterqueen replied: I think it just depends. We just bought a Kodak EasyShare digital camera for $599 plus shipping and handling. THat doesn't include extra memory card, printer cartridges, paper or printer. I think it totally depends on what kind of camera he's looking for. wink.gif.

3xsthefun replied: I think it depends on the camera & stuff. We bought a Kodak Easy Share Camera last year. It was around $150 I think. And the photo dock that goes with it was $150. We don't have the dock.

I want to get a new digital camera sometime. I'm wanting the Canon Powershot A520.

I do like our Kodak, it is a nice camera. But our battery door broke when someone accidently droped it.

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Yep, you have to take classes to learn how to use those cameras. tongue.gif I took one awhile back (when I got my professional camera) and would like to take more sometime in the near future.

I also have a light that goes on my camera (and tons of other accessories) I just use mine when I'm indoors or in a low light situation. wink.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
We also have dh's grandfathers professional picture camera...he was a photographer and he gave it to Leithan.....I don't know how to use that one either... rolling_smile.gif . And we have a black and white photography camera...Ive never even held it though....not even sure where its at. Where do you take the classes at??

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Sorry for highjacking, LeaAnn rolling_smile.gif

I took classes thru a professional photographer in Las Colinas a few summers ago. It was really cool. Unfortunately, he quit offering classes after the Sept 11 attacks. I think people started hanging onto their money after that, kwim? He had some great advanced classes and digital courses, too. He also took people on trips around the world just to photograph things. It was cool.

ETA: Wolf camera offers classes, too. (free if you buy the camera from them.)
