Do you ever hear your own words - or tone of voice coming from your kid?
DansMom wrote: Yesterday Daniel was putting his foot in the clean potty, then climbing on it. I was getting ready to say something about not doing that, when he looked up at me and said "that's enough, that's enough" in a creaky, crabby like voice. I'm still stunned!
Is that what I say? Is that what I sound like!!??
I'm watching not just what I say, but how I say it from now on!
FroggyJK replied:
Oh yeah! That's when I start paying attention to what I am saying and how I am saying it!
amynicole21 replied: OMG, that is too funny
kit_kats_mom replied: mmmm hmmm. I sure do. I never realized how sarcastic I sound until I hear her mimic me.
ediep replied: oh yes!!! When I am frustrated I let out this aaarrrggghhh!! sort of grunt-yell and I have heared Jason doing the same thing when he is trying to fit toys together or fit a little guy in his toy car.
My friends 2 year old talks exactly like her!! It is hilarious!!
MommyToAshley replied: Oh yes! It's funny but at the same time it makes you really think about what you are saying.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: YEP! Everyone always tells me that Maddie talks just like me! Too funny that Daniel has started that!
A&A'smommy replied: LOLOL I bet looking back that is pretty funny! I guess I need to learn now to watch how I say things
coasterqueen replied: Yep! I'm amazed at how I really sound. Kinda depressing because I really thought I was not doing those things but I guess I am.
Josie83 replied: yes all the time! She sounds a lot like me an docmes out with the same sort of things that i say too. it really makes you stop and think about what you say! the other day she said to Jason "oh for God's sake Daddy" in exactly the same way I would say it . . . felt very guilt about that one! She tells Daddy he's a good boy if he eats all his tea as well xx
MomToJade&Jordan replied: LOL!!!!!! Oh yeah. Jade isn't known as Little Mama around here for nothing. She even stands the way I do when she is mimicing me. I have been trying to curb the attitude a bit because of it.
mama3x replied: With DS, yes - every day of the past 12 yrs of his life I have seen gestures, actions and heard words and tones that mirror me. AUGH...
With DD, sometimes - she's not talking yet but I can see those same mannerisms and facial expressions I have...AUGH AGAIN!
TANNER'S MOM replied: This is a little different. My oldest daughter who is 14..talks and uses the same expressions as my ex husband...
It is hard sometimes b/c she is so much like him, even holds her hands like him. It is like looking at a ghost..
