Do you ever feel like you have TOO MUCH STUFF?!? - ACK.
ashtonsmama wrote: Ashton's only 3 months old, and I already have the house packed with his stuff! We have the high chair, which granted, we don't need yet, but soon, and a Bjorn bouncer, and 2 other bouncers that friends and family bought us, then we have his strollers (we have a smaller Peg-Perego one and a jogger), then there's the swing, which is the only thing I'm really using right now, and all his clothes and baby toys and books, and his whole room has more stuff I can't even think of, and there's also the exersaucer thing, with the mat... ACK! I feel like the house is going to explode! And it's not like it's really messy around here, I like things picked up and pretty tidy, so things are pretty organized around here, it's just that I feel wasteful, with all these things hanging around, waiting to be used! I know I'll probably need most of it for the new baby, and some I'll still use with Ashton, but I just hate to see all this junk around the house!!!
I would get rid of it all right now, but I think I'll still use it...that's the pack rat in me speaking... ARG.
Brias3 replied: Oh, I know what you mean! It just accumulates. In fact, I was feeling rather embarassed earlier today as I was picking up the kid's rooms while Mason was napping. Aliyah and I had another clothing fiasco this morning and so I went to go straighten up her closet as I knew we had left stuff scattered. She has a long, walk-in closet in her room and so I line up all her shoes against one of the walls. As I paired them all up, I was kind of in disbelief at how many pairs were shoved under the clothing rack. I decided to count for the heck of it and no joke, that girl has 28 PAIRS of shoes right now that fit her. Plus, that wasn't including the 3-4 pairs I know she has down in the mud room.
Don't even get me started on toys
ashtonsmama replied: Lucky girl! I don't even have 28 pairs of shoes!
luvmykids replied: I hate to admit it but I'm a shoe girl, therefore my girls are too! Not quite 28 pairs but ....
mckayleesmom replied: Yes.....I have been sticking stuff out on Monday nights for pick up....usually people drive around and take stuff people want....Im counting down until we move so I can get rid of Russells highchair and the kids can keep their toys in their rooms.
Brias3 replied: Sadly, nor do I! Which makes it all the more embarassing I swear, she must not be growing out of them or something because I honestly don't know where they have come out of the woodwork from
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Yup! Just last week I said Alex's bedroom looks like a toy store threw up in there!! He just had a birthday and let me tell you, we weeded soo much out of his room after he got new stuff! Oh and clothes....Im always worried he wont have enough clothes, well his shirt drawer barely closes because he has soo many!!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I'm pretty good about giving things away to Good Will just about every two months. I personally hate clutter, but I kwym about so much of the stuff around the house are Wil's toys. I haven't really bought him anything new since the holidays, so we're doing okay. And fortunately I haven't bought anything new for the baby either, so it's all mostly hand-me-downs.
b&bsmom replied: Same way. Except my problem is, our house is so small and I take care of children during the day so things my kids have grown out of I still need to keep or have out. For instance, I am getting a new infant in oct. so I will need to get the bouncy seat and swing out again. I can't stand my house. I don't have room for everything. I am right there with you.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: omg yes I do know what you mean. My parents and chris and i recently purchased a home together and are in the processing of adding more square footage to it. But with both of us comes two houses full of stuff.... Sabrina being the biggest amount of all. Thank god we have two living rooms otherwise I do not know how we would do it, plus we have a finished basement...but either way we still have stuff in storage cause we have to much baby stuff. I have 10totes of old clothes for sabrina alone already its crazy......
we should have a Parenting Club Sale LOL
C&K*s Mommie replied: When the kids were small, yes I felt like all the big things (the swing, highchair, bouncer, play gym, etc) were all needed (and they were to a degree), but I could not have been happier to get rid of them all. Now it is simplicity, or at least I try to keep it that way. In reality, I need storage boxes so I can create "homes" for many things, and put them in the closet out of sight for a long time.
Christian skipped shoe sizes, and poor Kel cannot fit into many of C's shoes now (too big), since she is barely even growing. We had to upgrade C's shoes recently to accomodate her growing feet (we also buy 1-2 sizes too big to spread the new shoe buying out) And Kel gets some anyhow, but knowing that C has some old shoes that are still too big for Kellie, I have to buy shoes that fit Kellie now, since she may get some good use out of them for some time.
holley79 replied: Dh is the neat freak of our house. He says all the baby stuff has him overwelmed. I guess I'm a little more lax. We have a LOT of baby stuff but I utilize every bit of it though. We have mostly accumalated a LOT of clothes. I went and purchased those under the bed cardboard boxes and labeled them when the sizes. I have a swing, bouncer, exersaucer, tummy time mat, baby gym, and of course a ton of toys. I try to mix everything up so Annika doesn't get bored with anything. I never registered for a high chair or other things that were for when she was "older" because we just don't have the room. That will all come in time. I am going to get a jogger though. I have a travel system stroller that I LOVE though.
