Do you buy X-mas gifts for....

DillsMommy wrote: Do you buy for all the kids in your childs class? This is the first time I'll have to do this so I have no clue what to get. He's only in preschool and the class is 12 kids. I'll deffinitly get something for his 2 teachers. But what about the kids, any ideas??

C&K*s Mommie replied: Since it would be nearly impossible to know what each child is into, or what their parents may approve of them having I would stay simple and basic if you choose to buy for all the students. Maybe some kind of goody bag from Oriental Trading. They have great lots of inexpensive toys, I would stick with the unisex toys, and go from there.

We are not going to do anything for the students in my child's class, since I barely even see the parents let alone most of the students. Maybe another yr, when I can get to know more.

mckayleesmom replied: No...I would'n't buy for the whole class, but maybe bring in a christmas treat or ask the teacher if its ok to do a craft with them.

Kaitlin'smom replied: well this is my frist christmas with kait being in pre-k, no way can I afford to buy for all the kids in class, but if she askes to do something maybe we will make something like an orniment or give them all cards. I am not even sure besides her teacher who I should buy for. I will have to think about it.

CantWait replied: Nope, I just sent a treat for the kids to take home.

hawkshoe replied: Why would you think you need to get something for all the kids?

holley79 replied: I know when I was teaching at that day care center the mom's made "candy pouches" for the kids. I think it is totally up to you but isn't a requirement.

lisar replied: I buy for the teachers but not the students in the class. Lexi has almost 22 kids her class and 2 teachers. Thats way to many for me to buy for.

skinkybaby replied: Grace is in Mother's Day Out, but I get her teachers a present (I usually try for a gift card) and I make little goody bags for the kids. Nothing fancy, just candy and maybe stickers or bubbles or something along those lines

boyohboyohboy replied: i hadnt thought about this yet, since this is our first yr at this also, but i like the idea of a treat for the whole class...
what kinds of gifts do you get the teachers?

skinkybaby replied: I get them gift cards to Bath Junkie. They get enough "stuff over the years and since I don't really know what they like I get them a gift card to a place where they can get stuff to pamper themselves.

MommyToAshley replied: I agree, traditionally most people just buy for the teachers (and administrator/director if they are also involved with the kids). If you want to do something for the kids, you could always talk to the teacher about bringing in a special snack or making cards to give to all the kids.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Ditto to the above... I wouldn't "buy" them anything... but I would send in a treat that they could all take home. Maybe if you really want to get them something, get those little bubbles from the dollar store and put a pretty red or green ribbon around the lid... ?

Boo&BugsMom replied:
I am not in this situation now, but have been in the past and no I did not buy for every child in the class. I did always buy for his teachers though.

kimberley replied: ohmy.gif blink.gif umm.. no or i'd be homeless and starving lol. i do however make cookies and stuff for the class on occasion and have ordered a pizza on my son's b-day for the whole class.

DillsMommy replied:
I dont mean anything, big and expensive. Just like a treat bag, card, ornament.. something like that. Thanks for the ideas everyone.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Walmart has cheap dollar ornaments usually thay can be engraved. Or you can go to the dollar store.

CantWait replied:
The dollar store is a great idea.

We got little snowman bells last year with each our names on it ( I think Robbie's said "son" because there was no Roberto), they were only a dollar each. You could get the class list and go from there.

3xsthefun replied: No, last year Kaitlynn's kindergarten class drew names and we bought a present for the child she got.

I'm not sure if it will be the same way this year or not.

Nina J replied: I would just get a card for each child and bring in some cookies or something. Maybe you could make them in the shape of Christmas trees?

ediep replied:
thats what jasons class did last year too, the teacher gave us a name and a 5$ linit to buy a gift and they did a grab bag!

I usually bake something or buy something for the teacher and the aide. This year I'll have a newborn, so we'll see what shopping actually gets done
