Do you believe in Heaven?
CAMSMOM1 wrote: Crystlina's post got me thinking. I was hoping to see what or if you believe in Heaven?
And if you do, what do you believe? And if you don't, what do you believe happens after you die?
Just curious, NO debates...just sharing our opinions.
MM'sMama replied: Absolutely but thats all I want to say because like you said don't want to start any debates hope you understand.
Edward's Mommy replied: Yes I do! ETA: And I hope I make there someday!
1lilpeanut2love replied: YES of course I DO!!
CAMSMOM1 replied: I believe in Heaven. I believe that I will be with Jesus after I die, because I have accepted him in my heart. The scripture that comes to mind is "To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord." I have known several people who have died, been to heaven, and have come back. It's really interesting to hear their stories. But I believe in it because of my relationship with the Lord, and what his word says.
I look forward to heaven. Death doesn't scare me at all. Yes, the thought of leaving my family does, but I know they will be with me again.
I read a poll/study that 90% people in heaven, or some sort of after life.
Nina J replied: Yes, I believe in Heaven. I believe that when we die, we join our loved one's who have passed away in Heaven, with Jesus. I have also met people who have had near death experiences, and it's amazing to hear there stories. I don't think death is the end, it's just the end of our time in this world. I don't know what it will be like, alot of people say that in Heaven you can have whatever you want. I'll just have to wait and find out Death doesn't scare me either, because I beleive with all my heart that I'll be going somewhere else.
EvesMom replied: I believe in heaven yes, but I do not think that is where the majority of us go. My belief is somewhat complex, so it'll try to sum it up best I can. I think that when we pass, we are sleeping, awaiting to be awoken for final judgement and ultimately the lord's kindgdom. A heaven on earth ruled by Jesus, and the heavens above by god. Does this make any sense? JMO.
MamaJAM replied: Yes - I believe in "the world to come".
3xsthefun replied: Yes.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I do believe in heaven. I believe that people that are good, kind, caring, selfless, compassionate and loving got to heaven.
kit_kats_mom replied: I don't believe it's an actual place no.
I do believe that heaven is a persons own sense of well being and goodness when he/she practices goodness, generosity, and compassion.
For example, I don't think I could feel any better than I do on the mornings that everyone is piled into our bed and rolling around hugging and tickling. The day is full of promise and everyone is happy and smiling. That's heaven to me.
luvbug00 replied: I believe in heaven & when I go I will be reunited with lost loved ones.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I believe in both Heaven and Hell, and that's all I'll say.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I believe.
ETA: I am in agreeance with you Ann, since you asked what we believe. I believe that no good works can get you there by any means, but that it is an acceptance of Christ into your heart. I believe that you will always falter and stumble everyday, a sin is a sin- I commit them everyday. But I believe we will be with Jesus and Our Father in heaven, and then one day in Paradise.
MyLuvBugs replied: I can sorta relate. I don't believe it's a place with pearly gates and stuff, but I do believe that heaven is what we want it to be. Our own "happy place" as happy gilmore put it. If you ever saw the movie "What dreams may come", that's almost exactly what I'm talking about. Heaven is different for each of us. Our own unique place to spend the afterlife. Just my beliefs.
I kinda also feel like, if there isn't something beyond this life, then all the family members that I've lost would just be gone forever.....And that's sad to me. I like knowing that someday I will see them all again, even if reborn into a new life...we'll see each other again.
jcc64 replied: I'm with Cary on this one. I don't believe there's an afterlife (wish I did, b/c it would make dying alot less scary)
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Yes
TANNER'S MOM replied: Yes I believe in heaven.. I believe in the bibilical way of getting there also.
Crystalina replied: I believe in heaven. I also am not scared to die and when someone close to me dies I'm mourning for myself not for them. That sounds really selfish when I type it out like that but I know that they are in a better place and I mourn because 'I' will miss them and not because I feel bad for them. I also mourn for their family. My very close friend (he was my highschool sweetheart, then my fiance and later mine and DHs best friend) died on the job 2 years ago. I cried for never seeing him again, his son he left behind and his parents, he was the only child. I know Kenny is in a better place and still smiles down on us all. Heaven is a feeling for me, not an actual place.
A&A'smommy replied: I believe in heaven and hell, and I believe you have to be more than just "good" to get there! Thats all I have to say...
~*Just Me*~ replied: I think when you die, you just die. There's no afterlife or anything like that either.

YES!!!!! I do believe in Heaven as well as Hell. I know I have been saved by the grace of God and will one day be able to actually see Heaven in all its glory and also see my loving heavenly Father. Reminds me of a song I used to sing:
We have a heavenly Father above, With eyes full of mercy, And a heart full of love.
He really cares when your head is bowed low So consider the lilies and then you will know!
luvmykids replied: Same here.

Same here! And I do believe in the Biblical side of things, but I do have alot of trouble (used to more though) with believing people who were dear to me were going to hell if they weren't Christians when they died...that was the hardest oart, still is. But yes, I believe in Heaven! Can't wait to get there! Although I know I still have a ton to experience here before then...
punkeemunkee'smom replied: I do believe in Heaven and I know that the price for me to get there has already been paid through the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. I believe that no work is good enough to get me there BUT I also know I am going because "I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord!" The Bible says that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our LORD! I also believe that I will see my friends and family that have gotten there before me.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yes I believe in Heaven and I do believe there are pearly gates b/c that is what the bible tells me and that is what God has promised. I also believe the day I die I will stand before Him in judgement and He will ask me what I did for him, not whether or not I was a good person, but a "good and faithful servant". Nothing on this earth can be as good as what God has promised me in heaven.
my2monkeyboys replied: I believe in Heaven. Not so sure what it will be like, but I like to think we will know our loved ones that have gone on to be there and maybe even live a life similar to here - having hobbies, enjoying each other's company, etc. It would make me sad to think there is nothing after this life. It's way too short. I believe the bible... we have an eternal life waiting for us after our flesh has died, and we decide where we shall spend it.
redchief replied: As a devout Roman Catholic, I believe in heaven, hell and purgatory. I believe that Jesus taught us how to get there. I don't believe that any one faith has an exclusive right to heaven (or hell for that matter). These are among the teachings of my faith.

redchief replied: I can't find in scripture a reference to "pearly gates." In Revelation the heavenly city is said to have twelve gates and that those gates are each made of a single pearl. Much of Revelation is known to steeped in metaphor and even lifelong theologeans have a hard time explaining St. John's visions of the Apocalypse.
luvmykids replied: So, would that make them the gates of pearl rather than pearly gates? Why do I open my mouth right after Ed posts? I know what I'm asking for
redchief replied: No... Like I said, Revelation is a book of dreams steeped in metaphors. The writing is inspired, but the language and use of symbolism in the book make it really hard to translate. I think gates of pearl would be a good translation, but I think a better one would be to look at a pearl; it is warm, rich and white with a welcoming irridescence. I think the "gates" are meant to draw our souls to the paradise within, and to those who can not enter, to show them just a little bit of what they are missing for not having found favor with God.
Heather77 replied: I'm Agnostic..... not sure if there is a Heaven.
luvmykids replied: Beautiful description, Ed!
EvesMom replied: Again Ed, I find myself in complete agreement with you.
CAMSMOM1 replied:
I just quoted this because I know many people feel they have to be "more than just good" to get to heaven.
It's not about our good works, that get us to heaven. But like Abbie said, it is a gift, that none of us "deserve". None of us have lived perfect lives, that are worthy of heaven. We try to do our best, but only through the gift of salvation, through Jesus, can we enter heaven. I'm so glad that it's not based on how good we are, because the Lord knows how many times I have failed and sinned. And that he loves us enough to pay the price for our sins & faults, on the cross. Yes, we should strieve to be more like the Lord, and to hold his commandments true, but we are not perfect. "A righteous man falls 7 times, but he gets back up." And like the scripture says, "Good works without Faith are dead." If we accept Jesus into our hearts, and repent for our sins, then he is faithful and just to forgive us. Paul calls it a "race". And like a race, there are times we fall down on the ground, times we are tired and can't see the finish line, but we get back up with the help of God, and keep on going. We weren't meant to live this life alone, or to handle the pressure of life on our shoulders. And the only perfect person who ever walked this Earth, is Jesus.
Kated replied: I do! I cant wait to see my horse there when Its my time! And I hope to see my Grandma too!
