Do you believe in...

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: Astrology? Meaning...Your sign (your horoscope)? Just curious...

My in-laws are WAYYYYYYYYYY into it, and although sometimes it rings true, it's all coincidence IMO. I get tired of hearing them talk about my unborn child's personality traits when he's not even born yet!! Or everytime Wil does anything, my MIL says "well you know that's because he's a Virgo". growl.gif I hope I don't offend anyone by complaining about my in-laws and their beliefs, but I want my children to be who they are simply because that's who they are! Not because of their sign, kwim?

My MIL is constantly asking me "what time was Wil born?" or "so if this baby is born on the 16th, he will be like this". I'm tired of hearing the low-down on how my children will be in the future simply because of what some book says!! Enough of the rising moon-hocus pocus! blahblah.gif

luvbug00 replied: it freaks me out and that's all i have to say about that..

I don't believe in anything like that. That stuff is all made up in my eyes. You children will be who they are and what they are because of God.

I don't believe in all the psychic stuff either. I mean I think they might make it up. Even though I would love to know if my Mom is always with me and watching over me. I sure hope so!!

Bee_Kay replied: I don't believe in that..... it's just coincidental IMO

luvmykids replied: I have a family member who lives by it daily. She will or won't go out because of it, thinks everything can be explained/predicted by her horoscope.

JMHO I think it's hogwash. And I have a lot more faith in what God says about my life and has planned for me than some person who writes a newspaper column.

kayla's mama replied: I agree it is phoney bologna. I do not believe in it smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I read mine just for fun.

Bee_Kay replied:
I read mine the NEXT day... just to see how close it was LOL!! tongue.gif

Chiflata2003 replied: I dont believe in that crap. I would have found love many times even after dh and I got marred. rolling_smile.gif

amynicole21 replied: Nope. I'm a Leo and have NONE of the traits of a leo happy.gif

luvbug00 replied: Amy!!! LOL!!!!

to me it's not a question of God or faith. horoscopes and stuff are just rediculas period to me..

DansMom replied: I studied Astrology as a teenager, doing charts and all that. I used to be a very mystical, magical sort of thinker, and did Tarot card readings for my friends at the same age. The thing about astrology and other forms of personality reading and future prediction is that it's all vague enough to be applied to any person or situation, and if you want to believe in it, you can make the prognostications and details fit something in your life. I don't spend time on anything like that anymore---personalities are formed as a combination of genetics and experience, IMO.

kit_kats_mom replied: Ok. So I'm the wierd one. LOL

I buy into it. I don't revolve my life around it and I rarely read my horoscope or anyone elses, but from years of reading about it, I do see many traits that fit peoples signs as well as my own.

I have had many saggatarian friends and I can pick one out of a crowd based on their bluntness.

Laurens sign is that of a goat...She will eat anything...much like a goat. bigthink.gif Coincinence?

Of course I'm educated and I understand that much of it is coincidence and horoscopes can be interpreted many ways to fit what you believe, much like the bible.

I had always wondered why some of the most notorious things about my sign didn't fit. Then I had a reading done (I had hired a "gypsy" for my friends bachelorette party and she did tarot readings, palmistry and star charts for all of us). She explained to me that I was born with a strong Virgo tendency. That combined with being raised by a very influential Cancer mom, made me much more organized and emotional than a true Aquarian.

luvmykids replied:
I will say this, when I first met one of my friends we constantly compared our DH's, they were peas in a pod. Same bad habits, same tempers, same weird sense of humor, same irritations, same everything. Turned out they're the same sign.

punkeemunkee'smom replied:
emlaugh.gif Bill is the same as most of the men we know as far as irritations and such I think that has more to do with the groups we run in...the good ol boy mentality if you will... smile.gif I am not saying that in a bad way-I love the way he sees and feels about things.

I don't keep up with that stuff although I do read it for fun once in awhile...I will say that I am facinated by reoccuring numbers though-for instance all the kids born in my family have a 7 in their birth time....The trend continued in Tay...Also all of us girls(siblings and me) have a birthdate divisable by 3 and the boys are born on the 22nd...my mom was never induced. Bill was born on the 16th we were married on the 16th Tay was due on the 16th-now so is our truck payment rolling_smile.gif blink.gif rolling_smile.gif I don't think it means anything mystical-I just think it is cool! blush.gif

luvmykids replied: rolling_smile.gif Very True Abbie! When someone asks their sign they should just say "Cowboy" lol

kit_kats_mom replied:
That is cool. The human mind is always looking to categorize things and make patterns. It's just in our nature.

I always thought 2 was my number since it occured a lot in my dob, ssn and other things. However, it has never brought me any tangible luck so phooey on 2. rolling_smile.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
That's pretty much how I feel!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I couldn't agree more! It drives me crazy when people talk about signs. I hope that doesn't offend anyone b/c we are all entitled to our beliefs, but if my MIL was that way I'd get tired of hearing it, too. You want to discover your child's personality, not be told in advance what they will be like. rolleyes.gif

Abbie the same here, but our number is 20. smile.gif

Edward's Mommy replied: Only if it says what I want it too! laugh.gif

DansMom replied: What's funny is, even with my newfound "disbelief" in Astrology, I am still very good at guessing certain signs, like Cary. Oh, and the bluntness of Sag. That's my little sister all the way. But it could just be birth order, as she's the youngest. Too funny.

kit_kats_mom replied: One other thing that I forgot to add to my previous post.

My mom was a hippie and she was (and still is) way into it. I didn't believe in it at first at all but then I realized that my mom was a weepy mess during every full moon. To this day it's the same way. Cancer is ruled by the moon. Wierd. wacko.gif

And one final thing. My DH things it's all bunk and he gets bothered when my mom and aunt refer to astrology. I tend to not have time to think about it much anymore.

Brias3 replied: Not too into it but I do read my horoscope if I come across it in a magazine or something.

My2Beauties replied: Well I don't really read my horoscope or anything like that, but I did do this Love Reader thing at King's Island with Brian where you put you and your SO's signs in this computer and it tells you how your relationship will be. We're both Libras and it said that we will last forever because two libras together is the best match there is wub.gif I thought that was sweet, I saved it. I also was over a friend's house one day and there was this guy over there that was with her boyfriend playing cards and stuff, well I came in to wait on her to get ready so we could go to my house, we were diong something I can't remember, and the guy looked straight at me after I said something and said "You're a Libra aren't you?" ohmy.gif blink.gif How on earth did you know that, she said he can guess anyone's sign by watching their reactinos to things and their facial expressions. He said he studies it a whole lot and he has only been wrong one time! So that's pretty cool!

holley79 replied: Everyone once in a while I read my horoscope for fun. I don't believe in it though. happy.gif

Nina J replied: I don't beleive in it. What they say is always very small though, like you'll met a new person today. They never say big things, like you'll find out your pregnant. Just little things that are almost certain to happen to a majority of people.
I still read mine ocassionaly, and hope when they say I'll get money it comes true rolling_smile.gif

ashtonsmama replied: I agree with pretty much everything that has been said, I think it's a little creepy sometimes if I ever (rarely) read my horoscope and it says alot of what I had been feeling/doing, etc.
huh.gif
But I don't really believe in it at all, I just think there's alot of coincidences in life and horoscopes are sometimes similar to what is happening in real life...I definitely don't get people who are WAY into it though, I can understand a healthy interest, but some people go way too overboard (maybe like Rae's in-laws)?
biggrin.gif

CAMSMOM1 replied: I'm an "Aries". rolleyes.gif Suppossivly the strongest, fire sign. A ram or something like that. Sure, some of the characterists are true, but do I believe it...no! I could write a horoscope easily. Put a few vague things in there, that could possibly happen to anyone, put a couple stars next to it, and I made millions! rolling_smile.gif

ilovemybaby replied: No.
My FIL does. He has all these horoscope books and he has a few psychic friends who do readings for him.
