Do You Have a Crafty Side? - Spinoff from amynicole21's post

Crystalina wrote: I was just wondering if you have a crafty side to you and how you came about doing that craft.

Mine is baskets weaving. I collected Longaberger baskets for awhile and anyone who know Longaberger knows that to buy just one small basket it's going to set you back a buck or two. God forbid you wanted a basket to actually put something in...that'll cost you. My collection was driving me to the poor house so I decided to learn to weave and collect my own baskets. So that's how I got started with that. I made one and got hooked and started weaving for everyone and for every occasion. biggrin.gif

luvmykids replied: Nope, not one tiny iota of creative ability for me!

TANNER'S MOM replied: I am semi crafty. When Brittany was little, I made things like hair bows for her hair. When my friends get married I do their flowers sometimes. I like to sew sometimes. It hits me in spurts. I like projects like I took my living room tables and them rustic looking and antique..and stenciled running horses on them!

I like to do just different things when the mood hits me!

mckayleesmom replied: I scrapbook....paint wood things, sew, cross stitch, back stitch,

I would love to learn how to basket weave and knit. and paint on glass.

Edward's Mommy replied: I knit

Crystalina replied:
I would scrapbook when Izabella was a baby but now when I bring out my stuff the kids think it's play time. dry.gif The same with cross stitching I LOVE it but with the kids would always tangle my thread. That was when Evan was a tiny baby though, maybe I could do it again now that we speak the same language. wub.gif

Crystalina replied:
I would love to learn to knit but it looks so darn scary! I can crochet...a line. rolling_smile.gif after that things always go sideways.

BTW if anyone knows how to put two quotes on one post please pm me because I've tried but can't get it right. wacko.gif

amynicole21 replied: I like to *think* I'm crafty and spend a ton of money on supplies, but they just sit there because I get really bored or frustrated with them. rolleyes.gif

jem0622 replied: Not so much. But I went to a stamp party a few weeks ago and was very happy with what I made. Plus I can make scrapbook pages with the small projects I make, and I like that I can do that. I hate looking at a whole page and I have to do the whole thing! If I can do a square one night (or two) and another square at another time then I have a page! Just tack it on!

Plus I love making the personalized thank you, bday, etc type of stuff. I hate shopping in the store for those things and it is hard to find what I want to say.

MyLuvBugs replied: Yeah...I make quilts and sew stuff. my mom and grandmother are big into sewing. I remember my mom making most of my clothes and her clothes when I was a kid, so I guess I just picked it up by watching them. smile.gif But I also like to draw (never have time to anymore), and I love to take pictures (obviously that's my degree), and I'm starting to get into making necklaces. Just stuff to occupy my time really. smile.gif

Mom2BNTN replied: I wish I could say I was a very crafty person like my grandmother, but the truth of the matter is that I am not! However, I did use to make angel pins and necklaces out of beads and wire. I sold so many of them I could barely meet supply and demand. I haven't made any in a while, but I have thought about getting back into it just for some extra spending money, but with a new baby I am scared of dropping some of the beds and having Dylan pick them up and swallow them. ohmy.gif

b&bsmom replied: I consider myself crafty but in a lot of different things. I like to make the fleece blankets and I do a lot of kids crafts making things for special holidays and things like that. I don't think I have one specific area I like it all mostly.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Love, LOve, LOVE to do anything crafty! wub.gif I really enjoy looking at something and then trying to see if I can make it happy.gif The big thing I wish I could do alot better is sew! I can do blankets, pillows, you know anything with straight lines only LOL!

Lynda836 replied: I just started scrapbooking...I couldn't find a baby book I liked so I decided to do my own. I crochet my first baby blanket when I was preg. I've cross stiched the occasional gift. I used to knit. I'd love to learn to sew again. My biggest prob now is finding time to do anything

coasterqueen replied: Not one crafty bone in my body.

I'd like to learn how to sew some day, learn to bake great looking cakes/pastries like a real chef, and do just about any kind of craft my girls may ever ask me to do with them. blush.gif

Dh keeps telling me to take a sewing class but I'm for some reason hesitant. Maybe because I feel I could never do it. blush.gif

PrairieMom replied: You name it, Ive done it. I crochet, cross stitch, apparently I paint, (Like the dresser i did for baby girls room) I stamp and scrap book, I have made candles, and bead!

My3LilMonkeys replied: I cross stitch, needlepoint, quilt, embroider & sew. I can kind of crochet but I'm still learning.

Anything like painting or scrapbooking I am hopeless at though.

Brias3 replied: I do enjoy knitting and beading but really hardly get time for it. Besides, I'm not very crafty at all. Art-wise, the best I can do is make a scrapbook or picture frame.

akelly replied: Well, I guess I'd have to say yes and no. I cross-stitch...but that is IT...and the only reason I can do it is because it is all x's! LOL! In recent years I have learned some "specialty" stitches, but I don't have ANY other creative outlets at ALL. So I guess I'd say I have A craft, but I'm not crafty.

EvesMom replied: I do everything pretty much. My true love is drawing though.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yep, I'm a seamstress and I LOVE crafts. I can pretty much do anything I set my mind to, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to crochet. blush.gif

I love to cook, too. The one thing I'd love to learn is cake decorating. My mother is a cake decorator and is awesome at it, but I really don't know how to do it. tongue.gif I need to take a class and grow some counter space. laugh.gif

MamaJAM replied: I love doing crafty stuff....not that I have much time lately. I've tried tons of different things over the years -- fabric painting, wooden decorations, cross-stitch, cake decorating, rubber-stamping, card-making (on the computer and by hand) and candle-making (there are more things but I just can't think of them right now). The advantage now is that I know how to do all of these things...I'm set for birthdays and holidays and can come up with a personalized gift at any moment.
My big thing...that I taught myself to do and is the one thing I do that's important - is sewing.....I make almost all of the skirts my girls and I wear.

Nina J replied: I love scrapbooking.

Other than that, I'm not really crafty. Unless you count me drawing with Emily as 'crafty'. My 2 year old is a better drawer than me rolling_smile.gif
