Do You Ever Wonder Who You Are???
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: I was sitting here lastnight thinking. I don't know what my favourate colour is, what kind of music I like, what my favourate song is, what my favourate food is? What do I like to do in my free time, what do I really want to do with my life? I always have trouble answering questions especially when I'm dealing with mental health professionals. I don't know how to set goals, and what exactly is a goal? I've got myself caught up in this and it's driving me crazy! I just asked DH a few questions and he told me it just depends on what time of year it is! I sound pathetic don't I? Has anyone else experienced this before?
grandma replied: Sounds like you need to give yourself a survey and find the answer to as many of these questions as you can. Looks like you've been busy with your family!
gr33n3y3z replied: Not really I know my dilikes and likes today but like all things it can change like my music type colors that I like.
Life is never etched in stone just remember that
grandma replied: lol...granted my favs can change, but you need to have a starting point, right?
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Fill out a myspace or facebook profile and that will help give you the questions. It helped me think about what music I really liked, what books I liked, what are my hobbies. Otherwise we are all to busy taking care of our kids to really think about this stuff. I admit to losing myself in the mommy world! Yes, your likes and dislikes can change daily, which is perfectly fine. But it doesn't hurt to just take a breather and think about, alone. It helped me feel better knowing I had other interests besides my family.
gr33n3y3z replied: Oh I know where I'm going in life and what I like and Love but that changes as I get older and I find the things I liked 10 years ago I cant stand today I just find myself growing every day and living smarter and not caring what ppl. think like I use to Hey I'm me like me or hate me either way what you see is what you get. I know what I wont become or turn out like LOL
grandma replied: lol - well yeah, we've been around awhile, but for the younger girls that are busy with family...I just think it's different.
gr33n3y3z replied: Very true younger ppl. think diffrent and there is nothing wrong with that But I'm still very busy with my family and wouldnt change it for the world even tho my kids are older we are all still very close.
I would love to be a grandma right now but thats not looking good any time soon
holley79 replied: No not really. It depends on my mood as far as my favorite foods and my favorite music at the moment. I have a fav color, fav song of all time, fav movie. I know myself pretty well.
MommyToAshley replied: I don't think I really have a favorite color or a favorite song... but that doesn't mean I don't know who I am. It just means that I like a variety of things. I have a favorite style of music, but I find it hard to narrow it down to more than a few favorites. I pretty much know what my hobbies are, but the problem I have is that I really don't have time to do them.
You've had a tough couple of years, and you really had to focus on Spencer for the past few years. I wouldn't get too hung up on the fact that you don't have a favorite color or song. But, you should take some time to enjoy your hobbies and have some time to yourself. If you don't know what your hobbies are, then try experimenting ... go bowling with a friend, attend a scrapbooking crop, read a good book, play some games online, etc. The important thing is that you take some time for you... not whether or not you know your favorite color is blue.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Thanks everyone! Well I've learned a few things about myself. My favourate colour at the present time is Pink, my favourate flower is the Sunflower, my favourate Actor is Harrison Ford, and my favourate beverage is diet coke. It's just been one of those weeks, sorry if I sounded a little crazy!
grandma replied: lol - My bad, for some reason I thought you were a grandma. Maybe I should pay better attention.....sorry!
HuskerMom replied: Ooh I like Harrison Ford too, he's kind of cute for an older man.
Do you ever write in a journal? Maybe if you just take a few minutes each day to write, never know what you might learn about yourself!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Thanks I will have to try that!
