The salesman has us about sold on a Bosch(sp?) but that's a lot of money and I'm SURE there HAS to be one out there that is similar and less expensive!
My2Beauties replied: *sighs* I want a dishwasher! Sorry I have no idea since I still have to do them the old fashioned way GRRR, we need to hurry up and buy a house with a friggin' dishwasher in it!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I got a new WP this year while its not ultra quiet it is much quieter than what we had. I would have love to gotten one you would have to put your ear on to see if it was running or not but way to much money for me to spend on a dishwasher. I like ours and I thing I am starting to get the hang of the best way to shove the most dishes in
kimberley replied: unfortunately, i can't help you since i AM the dishwasher and i am definitely NOT quiet good luck on your hunt!
coasterqueen replied: I don't know what type we have and when my DH gets home I'll have to ask, lol. BUT ours was quiet at first...now 5 years later it's starting to get noisy. I think they all do overtime IMO. That's why they are so cheap, lol.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: We like Kenmore, but ours is far from new and it is still fairly quiet.
gr33n3y3z replied: I have a KitchenAid Whisper Quiet Plus.It cleans GREAT and you can not hear it running RedChief would buy no other brand. He is a plumber and installs them. Good luck
MomofJandB replied: We have a fairly new Maytag and so far I love it. It seems pretty quiet to me. However, how can you go wrong taking the advice of a plumber !!
Good luck!
ediep replied: we have a Bosch. It is very quiet and cleans the dishes very well. It was expensive, but our kitchen is close to our family room, and we couldn't hear the TV or talk ont he phone if the dishwasher was on with our old one.
BTW---Cooking in the dishwasher...thats gross
Josie83 replied: The only dishwahser we have is called Josie lol . . . only kidding! I wish I knew about dishwahsers but there's not way we could afford one! good luck finding one tho! xx
coasterqueen replied: Okay I asked (darn) hubby last night about the dishwasher and ours is a GE Profile. It's quiet but I guess I was looking for really quiet. Hee hee. It used to be but *I* think it's getting louder. Dh says I'm just going looney.

If you prepare all of the food the same way and put it in the oven at 300' for about an hour you'll achieve the same results without those nasty water spots!

I would also consider purchasing top line Whirlpool, Kenmore, ISE. There are also several German manufactures I'd use myself. They tend to be noisier, but last longer. Also look at the interior cabinet space of the dishwasher, especially if you make a lot of soups and pasta dishes where you use deep pots. Some of the new designs have much more room in them.
Tips:
Noise comes from places:
1. Cabinet material. Metal cabinets tend to make less noise but cost quite a bit more than plastic ones. In general the more insulation on the dishwasher (both sides and front), the better noise deadening. Plastic wash tubs are noisy but can be quieted with insulation also. Ask to see the front panels removed in addition to seeing the insulation around the outside of the dishwasher. Better dishwashers have heavier insulation in the front (the least expensive ones have none and sound like they are having a party in the kitchen when they're running).
2. Motors. Heavier motors make less noise because they drive the dishwasher pumps directly. Lighter motors used in less expensive brands use a belt to drive the pump and that makes more noise.
Consumer Reports does testing on dishwashers frequently and their results are usually pretty accurate.
Hope that helped!!!
