I can come up with a few ideas and then I run out. So if you could help me I would be much grateful. Also if anyone have some easy recipes they could share would be much appreciated. biggrin.gif

luvmykids replied: I like to do chicken or ribs in the crockpot with bbq sauce, bake the bagged hash browns with sour cream and cheese, and corn on the cob.

Sloppy joes, tacos, etc. I get a cheap cut of beef, cut it up, brown it, then simmer it with a can of tomatos and towards the end throw in some frozen green beans. Shake n bake chicken or pork chops, lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs.

I'm going blank I'll try to think of some more.

stella6979 replied: I am a big fan of chicken breasts and came across this recipe one day. I absolutely love it and it's so easy to make. When I made it though, I didn't have any onion soup mix, so I just used some onion powder and it was still very good. I served it over rice with green beans and garlic bread.

INGREDIENTS
6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
seasoning salt to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Sprinkle the chicken breasts with seasoning salt to taste. In a large skillet, brown the chicken in olive oil, on both sides, until they are golden brown.
Then place the chicken in a 9x13 inch baking dish. In a medium size bowl, combine the sour cream, chicken soup and dry onion soup mix. Pour the mixture over the chicken and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes to an hour. Let cool and serve.

3xsthefun replied: Thanks for the ideas so far. smile.gif Please keep them coming. thumb.gif

Monica, do you mix the sour cream and cheese together with the hashbrowns before you make them, or do you just bake the hashbrowns first and then add the cheese and sour cream?

Maegy loves corn on the cob especially the mini cobs she eats like 3 of them. laugh.gif

Thanks, for all of the chicken recipes, but I don't think Rob will like it to well..he says I make to much chicken. emlaugh.gif Seriously thankyou though, I did need some new ideas. It seems like I always make chicken the same way.

Oh, and does anyone have any good recipes to make a good Philly Cheesesteak sandwich? I would love to find a good one. smile.gif

luvmykids replied:
I forgot...I mix the hashbrowns (thawed) with a can of cream of chicken soup, 1 cup sour cream, and 1 c shredded cheese. If it seems too hard to even mix you can add some milk. Then I bake at 350, I forgot how long, maybe 20-30 minutes? And top with a little more cheese.

I have a few more, they may sound weird but are really good laugh.gif

Cook a pkg of pasta, add a can of bean soup, a can of milk, a can of tomatos and chopped ham.

Brown a pkg of Italian sausage, cook a pkg of lentils according to directions, add the cut up sausage and a can of tomatos (I don't drain them on this one). Lentils are super cheap, really good for you, and really filling. DH is a meat and potatos snob but he likes this one!

Another one is I buy the cube steaks, brown them, then add cut up potatos and onions, water to cover, salt and pepper, put a lid on, and let it simmer until done. The key to this one is to go to the Mexican food section and look for the Korr seasonings, the beef one, it's like boullion. I add that to taste too, it makes a really yummy gravy. Or you can just use the pkg brown gravy, it doesn't taste quite the same but is still good.

One of the kids' favorites is on the Bisquick box, Impossibly easy cheeseburger pie. I think it calls for ground beef, cheese, fresh tomato, onion, and some milk and egg to add to the Bisquick. If that sounds like something you guys would eat I'll find the recipe.

You can also go to allrecipes.com and find recipes by key ingredient, like whatever cut of meat, I get a lot of ideas there.

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound beef round steak, cut into thin strips

4 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise and toasted

I take a large cast iron skillet and simmer 2 tsp of water with 3 packed cups of fresh spinich. Simmer till wilted. I take an inexpensive cut of steak and pound it to 1/4 inch thick. I season the beef very well then put the spinich on top of the beef. I roll the spinich up inside the beef. I place the beef seam side down in the skillet and start browning it. After it's browned I place it in the oven till fully cooked. It's yummy.gif

3xsthefun replied: Thanks a bunch everyone! biggrin.gif These will really help!

If anyone else has any other ideas, please feel free to share. smile.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: I am saving this forum! I need this too! What I do is write down dinners for one week, then switch them up for the next week replacing a dish or two. I write all these down until I get 3 or 4 weeks and then just keep going off of them for the next month. smile.gif Of course I make new dishes here and there but it atleast keeps me going when I get stuck. smile.gif

Jamison'smama replied: Breakfast for dinner...pancakes or waffles and sausage

I have a great breakfast casserole recipe with frozen hashbrowns eggs and sausage--that's about all the main ingredients.

I make a pot roast then a couple of days later make french dip sandwiches and potato salad.

Homemade pizza or calzones

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: How about stir-fry beef? I don't really follow a recipe. Just saute broccoli, carrots, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and maybe bean sprouts or snap peas. Once soft, sprinkle with soy sauce and I also add a little chicken stock to make a sauce. Then make some brown rice and wahla, dinner! Oh woops, I forgot the beef....haha Where's the Beef? Sorry, had to say it! I bought some tri-tip roast, sliced it thin and sauteed it with a little olive oil in a skillet.

I also make a lot of whole roasted chickens. Again, no recipe. Just buy a whole fryer at the store. Wash, pat dry. Rub with olive oil and kosher salt (it has to be kosher salt, or margarita salt, so gooooood!). Stuff fresh rosemary sprigs under the skin. Cut a lemon in half and stuff the half in the body of the chicken. Place breast side up in shallow roasting pan. Cook for two hours on 350 (depending on size...I usually make a 3.5 lb chicken for three of us with a bit leftover). This is also a yummy side dish...steam cauliflower. When soft, puree in a Quisinart and add a little butter. Just like mashed potatos, but better for you since it's a veggie, not a starch. tongue.gif

Tonight I'm making pasta with buffalo meat sauce. I just use boxed spaghetti. But we love buffalo over ground beef because it's so much more lean. And not that more expensive. I find it at Walmart. Just cook it up like you would ground beef. Strain the oil. Throw in marinara sauce. You can add sliced mushrooms or zuchini too! Yum! Make with a big green salad!

3xsthefun replied: Thanks, you all giving me some good ideas!

Hmmm.. I didn't know they sold buffalo meat at Wal Mart. Maybe I'll have check and see if ours has any. smile.gif

I forgot about homemade pizza and calazones, I haven't made any for awhile. I need to do that instead of buying frozen pizzas all of the time.

redplaydoh replied: One very quick meal I used to make (when Cambell's soup was available to me).

In a rectangular casserole dish put one cup of uncooked rice in the bottom, add whatever meat (chicken, pork, beef, etc.) on top. Pour one can of Chicken Gumbo soup over the meat add one can of water. I lift the meat up to make sure the water gets underneath to cook the rice there. I also add various spices to suite my own taste. Cover with foil and bake 1.5hrs at 350. It's so easy and you have your meat and side dish in one easy step. I also double the recipe a lot depending on circumstances.

Btw I like it best with beef or pork.

kimberley replied: i think we married the same guy with the "too much chicken" comment lol

tomato beef stew
tacos
bbq steak/ribs
chili
meatloaf
roast turkey
grilled sausage
lasagne
beef noodles
beef cannelone
roast beef
chicken fingers/wings
stirfry

that's about all i can think of tongue.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Here's another easy one that requires NO chicken!

Buy a beef brisket or top sirloin. Buy a box of Lipton onion dip mix. Put brisket in shallow roasting pan with aluminum foil underneath. Leave enough alum foil on top so that you can actually cover the whole top of the meat and wrap the meat like you would a burrito. Sprinkle the dip mix over top the beef and then wrap shut, letting no air in. Then bake/roast in oven for an hour or so. You don't even need to add water. The dip mix and the juice of the beef become a really good onion sauce. Serve with mashed potatos and some sorta veggie. My grandma makes this every year for Passover. I sometimes just do it for a regular dinner. Great leftovers for sandwiches.

The buffalo meat is in the specialty meat section at Walmart, where the lamb and other natural meats are sold. They also call buffalo - bison, if you didn't know that. thumb.gif

Does your DH eat fish? Grilled salmon is always an easy one and so good for you! I buy frozen soy beans (edamame) at the store and steam those when I make fish. And then add a side like brown rice, quinoa or couscous (boxed). Again, all of these things can be found at Walmart...no need to go to a specialty store. smile.gif

3xsthefun replied: Ok, thanks for telling what section the buffalo meat is in I didn't think to look, because I was wasn't sure. I might try look this evening if I go back to Wal Mart, I'm pretty sure I will be.

Thanks for the other ideas. Yeah, Rob does eat fish that he catches he likes to go trout fishing.

Thanks, again everyone for your ideas they helped out alot yesterday. Only thing I didn't find was the Korr seasoning. I might have to check another store and see if they have it.
