Did any of you have this problem while pregnant? - Driving ?

He said he was in there even before his teacher and that his dad dropped him off so early cause he had to work. (he could have left him at my house as I'm right on the way to school) But, anyway, to my original point, I asked why ex's girlfriend didn't take him like she usually does and he said because her belly was too big to fit behind the wheel! She is just about 9months pregnant due at the end of this month (I think the 24th??). I have never had that problem and found it kind of funny!! Maybe it's because I am tall and have long legs though!
So have any of you ever not been able to fit behind the wheel when 9months preggers? I think she's just a little shorter than me so around 5'6" maybe?
MomToMany replied: I've managed to still drive up til I delivered. I suppose its all in the way you carry the baby. I had to move my seat back, and I'm short to begin with.
mckayleesmom replied: Im 5ft1 and can still drive, but its kind of difficult sometimes because I have to scoot the seat up so far and put the stearing wheel down, but if I don't put the steering wheel down then Im fine and dandy. Most people tell me Im not that big for 9 months though...maybe she is bigger.
booey2 replied: Yup by the time I was almost to term I had trouble driving. DH wouldn't let me drive the car with the airbags in it and I am 5'4" so it was getting difficult towards the end but I still drove and I drive a standard.
WillnCare replied: What a crock of poo! I didnt get big but geez, at least say she was vomiting or having diarrhea! I must say it is a funny story though!
Did you ream the ex dh (i dont mean dear hubby) for leaving the kid at school? I feel like beating him up for you!
ammommy replied: I had to change cars with my DH whe I was about 8 months preggo with DS. I couldn't get out of mine (had a miata at the time) and the seat belt rubbed with the steering wheel.
A&A'smommy replied: no I didn't have that problem but I feel bad for anyone that has!!
aspenblue1 replied: I never had that problem.
coasterqueen replied: I never had a problem and am not this time either.
Although when I was pg with my DD I didn't feel like driving a stick after so long during pg so DH switched me cars. The only problem I'm having this time is when I get into DH's car...I can't get out with out a good swift push from him.
kimberley replied: hmmm not a crock of poo to me. i was VERY uncomfortable behind the wheel when i was pg with Jacob in the last month. unless your vehicle has tilt steering or you have really long legs (i am 5'4"), it is awkward. AND i even got into an accident shortly before i was due and thought i was gonna give birth in the car! i was making a right onto a major street and started getting strong BH. i went to pull over because they really hurt and ended up hitting the gas instead of the brake and hit a parked car fairly hard. not smart, but i can see her point.
Nicole replied: Awwwwwwww your poor son! As far as driving i was able to drive all the way to the end of all my pregnancys! And i get BIG! I`m 5 feet 6in. to so i don`t see why she was not able to drive.
My2Beauties replied: Well I'm 5'3" and I didn't have trouble driving per se but I had to adjust my seat and the steering wheel in order to be more comfortable! I only ganed 35 pounds so I was all belly and really didnt get that big!
elvisfan replied: Well, they have a 2003 chevy colorado so it proabably has tilt steering and it's not low to the ground. She doesn't look that huge (in fact she looks really good!) but what do I know!!! I am tall and have to have the seat ALL the way back so it's never been a problem for me.
And ex is so stupid. I mean why wouldn't he call or just drop him off? This isn't the first completely idiotic thing he's done. I felt so bad for ds. Just sitting in there alone in his room!! At least he could get into the school.
ammommy replied: It could also be that she just can't sit comfortably (trying to geive her the bod here). I remember with one of my pregnancies (second, maybe) that by the end it HURT to sit, I had to lounge on a side. I felt that the baby's head was right there between my legs and was going to fall out. I agree, though. Ex was being stupid. I'm surprised that he could get into the school.
mom89 replied: No I didn't. But then again,I don't get very big. I'm sure she could've adjusted the steering wheel. Wonder why she didn't?
DansMom replied: I couldn't drive in the last 8 weeks. I was taking a pregnancy exercise class and had to stop going or have DH drive me. I'm 5 foot 1 inch. I couldn't get close enough to the pedals of our vehicle without my belly jamming against the steering wheel. It was pretty funny---but not safe!
party-of-six replied: When I was pregnant with my twins I ended up with a 60 inch waist...yes ladies, a full 5 feet around at the waist and babies all out in front. I was still able to drive my windstar. Mind you, I had about 2 inches to spare, and the seat was back as far as it would go and the gas/brake pedals were up as far as they would go, but I was able to drive. Had I been in a car....nope. would not have been happening.
How scary that must have been to be left at school before anyone else got there.
