Did You Have a Big Wedding or Small?

Crystalina wrote: Mine was small. Only because I got tired of everyone wacko.gif
Everyone wanted me to do things their way so one night DH and I decided to just do it.
We called the preacher at 10:30 at night and asked him if he'd marry us. He said "You kids are going to be the death of me. Get over here cause we're getting ready to hit the sack." Those are good memories. rolling_smile.gif

I called my mom and she thought I was joking. I told her that I was serious but she blew me off so she wasn't there.

My MIL said she'd be there and she showed up with dripping wet Home Interior floweres (sky blue). She handed them to me and said that every bride needs flowers. She took them off of her wall. wink.gif

The preacher was in his pinstripe jammies and his wife was wearing a hot pink robe and matching fuzzy slippers. She played the wedding march on a piano they had in the living room and since there was no where to march we just stood there until she was done.

My DH and I had been riding his motorcycle all day so we were windblown and wearing our Harley Davidson T-shirts and jeans.

I had just about everything that I needed for my wedding. I was just fed up with everyone. My sis wore my dress when she got married. It has a ten foot train and was beautiful. At least someone wore it.

I wouldn't have wanted my wedding to be any other way.
Except of course the fact that my mom wasn't there because she thought I was joking. sleep.gif

luvbug00 replied: cute story. we are having roughly 100 people ( no more!) at our wedding this fall.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: laugh.gif That's cute, Crystal. happy.gif

We had a big wedding. It was in December and it was COLD and RAINY. BRRRRRRRR! But it was beautiful and the day was wonderful wub.gif

Nina J replied: We had a big wedding too. Once we invited all of our family and friends, we had 250 people. Plus friends brought spouse's or girlfriends so that added to the number. We had a pretty ordinary wedding though, except my cat who I'd had since I was 10 was there happy.gif People thought I was pretty weird for bringing my cat.

My3LilMonkeys replied: We were mediumish, around 100 people I think.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: We had a big wedding. 4 of our closest friends stood up on either side-It was kinda our groups, you know? You couldn't have divided them up-my girls that I grew up with and the guys he did. We also had 2 ring bearers and 2 flower girls/Jr. bridesmaids and a Jr. groomsman...I am from a big family emlaugh.gif There were around 300-325 people there. It was an AMAZING day! wub.gif I can't believe that it will be 10 years on Thursday!!!

USMCwife replied: Me and my DH was engaged after he got out of boot camp.
Then he was told that he would be leaving for Afghanistan so we decided to get married before he was deployed. We or should I say me and my aunt planned everything in a little over 2 weeks.
We were married at the courthouse infront of The Justice of The Peace, it cost us $36... but you cant put a price on love, big or small!!
Later that evening we had a nice reception and that night stayed at a local hotel. He left for Afghanistan 3 weeks later. When he got back we went on out honeymoon to a Chalet in Pigeon Forge.

5littleladies replied: Ours was mediumish. We had about 200 people. Everyone told me it was the most beautiful wedding they ever went to. I can hardly remember it though-my mother and her friend planned most of it and it was all a blurr to me. Dh wants us to have another ceremony on one of our anniversaries so we can plan the thing ourselves. rolleyes.gif

luvmykids replied: We were supposed to have 100 but went over because people showed up when they heard about it, invited or not! But we didn't really mind, it was after the dinner and it was a cash bar, so no skin off our backs lol!

I loved my wedding dress, we were on a tight budget and I love, love, loved it but was so sure it would be totally out of price range, it turned out to be on sale for $250.00!!

The only thing I would do different is have one other girl stand up with me, I still feel bad for leaving her out but for DH it had to be ONLY his brother, or 10 guys. so we just went with one each.

Militarymom22 replied: My husband and I had both we eloped in Spetember and had a decent sized wedding about 80 people the following June.

NEWMOM05 replied: We eloped in Feb. We were in St. George and drove back to Vegas to elope dry.gif We tried to tell everyone later that week, but they didn't believe us. So about a month later we finally announced and had a reception in April about a 100 or so people. We were married by a woman minister, to me that was strange dry.gif

CAMSMOM1 replied: I had a small wedding. Even though I had this dream wedding in my mind, and inviting everyone I knew, on the beach, ect. But when it came down to it, we just wanted to be married and not deal with all the stress or money of having a big wedding.

We bought our house 2 weeks before we got married. And we didn't want to live together. So we just said, "Hey, lets just do it!" And we got married in our new home. We had a large bedroom, invited 30 of our close family & friends.

My step father is a minister, and he married us. And that was really special. I had the wedding dress I wanted, DH had a tux, flowers, wedding runner, cake, food, pictures. Everything you would have at a large wedding...but still simple.

We sleep in the bedroom we got married in. So it's a very special memory we have in this house.

The one thing I wish we could do over again, is our honeymoon. We didn't have one since we just bought a house. And I wish we could've gone away somewhere. Hopefully soon we can have a nice honeymoon that we never had. happy.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: Ed and I had about 200 to 250 ppl. there
I almost said forget it bc so much B.S. that goes along with it ppl. telling you this and that I finely said one more person that opens thier mouth were going off on our own blush.gif

MamaJAM replied: We eloped -- so it was DH, me, the judge and our 2 witnesses. I'd call that pretty small. happy.gif

JP&KJMOM replied: Our wedding was small very close friends and family only (about 30 people) and then we invited almost 300 people to the reception that followed. We had BBQ, dancing and 7 kegs. I would never do it any other way because we had loads of fun! biggrin.gif

salmndr007 replied: Jess and I had a small wedding. It was in her mom's house with about 30-50 close family and friends. I think is was perfect too, and she looked so beautiful. It is hard for me to immagine a large wedding. It seems like it would be such a blur of trying to meet everyone and whatnot. I have a very small family (like 5 people) so I don't know what I would have done if there were 150+ people there. I probably would have lost my mind trying to remember the name and face of everyone.

PrairieMom replied: I had 30 people. It was perfect. i wouldn't change a thing. It was a day that I wanted to share with our closest family and friends, and that is what we got! We had the reception at my parents house, and it was really informal. Everyone was drinking champane, and they all watched me open my gifts. I even ended up getting into a cake fight with my attendants. I have pictures of my Best man Pinning my Maid of honor to the floor and shoving cake in her face, and then my Maid of honor drinking champane out of 2 glasses at the same time! It was a great time! rolling_smile.gif

3xsthefun replied: We had a small wedding, it was in my parents back yard. I think we had at least 50 people. I really did love my wedding but I wish somethings had gone different. I didn't even get to dance with my husband at our reception, actually there was not dancing at all. People was all doing there own thing by the time we had our reception. rolleyes.gif

Also my mom and a friend of hers planed most of my wedding. I hope on one our anniversaries we can renew our vows. So that we can plan things we want them to go.

kit_kats_mom replied: LOL. That's a funny story.

We had a very small ceremony with family only. 15 people total including the officiant. But then we had a good sized reception/party with all of our friends afterwards since it was NYE. It was perfect.

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: We had a big wedding about 200-250 guests. It was in October and it was a beautiful day with sunshine and the tempature was about 65 degree's. We each had 5 people stand up for us plus 2 ushers and a flower girl and ring bear. The church was packed and we had people that weren't invited to the wedding come to the reception/dance. I really need to dig out my wedding photo's and scan them in to show all of you!!!

jcc64 replied: We had a fairly typical Italian style wedding with about 150 people. (with a few dozen hippies thrown in for fun rolling_smile.gif )

BAC'sMom replied: We eloped..... so it was just him and I and the JP. It will be 13 years June the 27th.
