Diapers for Baby Boys - What are the best diapers for a baby boy
Tracilda wrote: I friend of mine told me to purchase a lot of diapers before my May 5th due date. But I am not sure what brand of diapers to buy. There are so many to choose from, so I thought if anyone has a baby boy they could help me. Thanks, Tracy (email me @ tracy_juan@hotmail.com)
booey2 replied: Hi, all of the diapers now are pretty much unisex. Meaning they are good for both boys and girls. We tried Huggies but found that they felt damp after being filled by the boys so we switched to Pampers because they hold as much but still felt dry to the touch. If you want buy a couple different kinds in small amounts and try them out. Once you have your little bundle decide which one works best for you. HTH
ammommy replied: I found that Pampers Swaddlers worked best for my son. I tried them all, too. Now my neighbor swears by Luvs, but my son leaked horribly through them. Try a pack or two of different brands to see what works best for your son. No matter what brand you decide on, remember to point that little penis down That will help more than anything.
Mommy2BAK replied: I agree. I have a girl, but we tried all different kinds until we found the one that was best for Blakely. We finally decided on Huggies Supreme.
Junemommy21 replied: I have found that Papers Crusiers work wonders! When my lil man was first born I bought all the newborn swaddlers but I found the lil cut in them for the cord is WAY too high so I still had to fold it down. Everyone likes a dif. brand, my friend LOVES luvs but I don't like them at all, the leaked and he wasn't THAT wet.
Jamison'smama replied: I am also a Swaddler fan--they don't have a cord cut-out anymore but they fold down nicely. Luvs is the only brand I found with the cord cut-out but they are much stiffer. For the softness I would say Pampers Swaddlers, followed by Huggies Supreme.
ediep replied: we use Huggies ultratrim for our son, they are great. Once he started sleeping through the night we use huggies overnights at night
party-of-six replied: pampers worked best for my DS and for my Dd's huggies or the food lion brand of diapers worked best on them...go figure.
just make sure that you point his little package DOWN...otherwise he will pee out the top of the diaper.
do not buy too many either....but know that you can take back and exchange unopened packages for larger sizes.
3boys4me replied: I used Pampers with my youngest 2. They leaked thru the Huggies. With DS#1 all I used was Huggies. I really like the pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers. Don't buy too many newborn sizes! I made that mistake and had to go exchange them.
Sunflower04 replied: I actually tried a bunch of different brands for my son and used what worked for us and our budget at the time. We now use Pampers or Huggies because he is older and they don't leak.
paradisemommy replied: we tried huggies but leaked terribly, pampers is what we swear by - the custom fit cruisers but i agree - don't buy too many diapers before hand - you don't know how big baby is going to be - we only went through like 2 packages of newborn diapers and were on to size 1. AND all babies are different..i think you just have to play around with which one fits the best!!! good luck!!
Jamison'smama replied: Yep, I just took back 2 packages of newborn diapers and Jack is not even 3 weeks old---size one will fit much longer---they actually had size one in the hospital instead of newborn.
loveydad replied: Yeah, we tried huggies when NIcky was tiny. Within a month he'd peed through like..4 of them. I'd wake up to feed him and he'd have soaked the sheet. UGH.
I like pampers Swaddlers for kids, but my son has a 4 month old and he has the walmart ones or whatever the brand is with suzy's zoo and they work fine.
Alice replied: I've used Huggies for all 3 of my kids; they just seemed to keep them drier than Pampers.
In the small sizes, I also like the Target house brand... I forget the name. BJs also has a great house brand (Barkley & Johnson I think)
Buy some Newborns, but stock up on the next size; they really outgrown those newborns fast!! And, in newborns, some come with the bellybutton cut out. It's really not a deal-breaker. Contrary to the ads, it's really easy to fold down the top of the diaper.
Oh, and by the way: welcome and congratulations!!!
MomToMany replied: Use cloth! They are the best!
superlydia replied: I loved Pampers Swaddlers for the first couple of weeks but after that it's Luvs.
My2Beauties replied: You're kidding they don't have the umbilical cord cut out anymore? They did when hanna was born! That sucks!
I liked Swaddlers when Hanna was newborn too! Luvs leaked for me too, however Hanna is a girl so this is hard for me to answer!
loveydad replied: LoL Mollie, you are totally right!
mckayleesmom replied: With Mckaylee the ONLY diapers she didn't leak through were the White Cloud kind from Walmart. They are also cheap too. Russell is not even a week old yet..so its hard to tell. So far Im using all the diapers from the hospital they gave as samples. He hasn't seemed to leak in any of them yet. I would wait to buy them, because most hospitals use all different kinds. Just try to remember which one you liked.
MomToMany replied: Thanks Vig!
They are the best because:
~ No nasty chemicals that can cause cancer
~ Nothing filling up the landfills and polluting the groundwater
~ They are super soft
~ Easy to wash
~ They DON'T LEAK!
Learn more about why cloth is better than disposables here.
Although they are fine for occasional use, they shouldn't be the first choice. At least that's the way it should be.
What would YOU rather wear, paper or cloth underwear? I hope you answered cloth! Why should your beautiful baby have to wear paper?
kimberley replied: if you are using disposable, i am with the pampers swaddler crowd. they are great and really don't leak as much as huggies. but i used them for my daughter. with my sons, i used pampers baby dry. EVERYTHING else leaked but those. hth.
