Dh had to call an Ambulance for my Dad! - Need prayers and positive thoughts!!!
NEWMOM05 wrote: This morning at alittle after 11am my dad calls and asks for Curtis to come over. We live a street over so that's not that big of a deal. We thought he wanted help with a project. Curtis said he sounded stressed, but my Dad stresses over everything.
Anyways, A few minutes later Curtis calls and says An ambulance is on it's way, call the family, Bye. WTH!!! I didn't know if he was breathing, bleeding to death or what. My Dad has Diabetes and High Blood Pressure among some other things, so who knows what could be happening.
I later find out that he had a bloody nose that wouldn't stop, so he called Curtis to stay with him in case he passed out. Good thing too. He passed out twice on Curtis. Nothing would stop the bleeding. Dad finally allows Curtis to call 911, but he wants him to order a pizza when he calls them. Yeah, I would say he a little out of it.
To make a long story short. His nose bledd like a faucet for over 3 hours. They couldn't tell where the bledding was coming from, because they couldn't get it stopped. They had to put plugs in his nose, which he said was so painful that he almost passed out. That's painful, becasue my Dad has a high pain tolerance. The plugs have to stay in until Mondaywhen he goes and sees a specialist. An Ear, nose & Throat Dr. If it's not stopped, they will have to do a procedure.
We are so thankful that Curtis called an ambulance over a bloody nose, becasue they said he definitley neede medical care fast. It's not life threatening, but still super scary. We still don't know what casued it.
I love my Dad so much and was so scared today. We were afraid it might be something really horrible and we could lose him. KWIM? He's okay. He's in pain from the plugs and weak from loss of blood, but I know it will be okay.
Sorry for the novel, but I needed to share.

It's not easy seeing your parent go through this, so big hugs to you. Let us know what they find out. And try to spend some time with your Dad, to keep his mind off the nose plugs, that's sounds painful.

redchief replied: Owww.... I've helped docs put nose plugs in... Basically they're inflatable plugs that are filled with air until the blood flow to the bleeding vessel is squeezed off. They are painful, not to mention the discomfort of the air fill tube taped to or slapping against his face. Hope they find the problem and are able to fix it.
