Dentist apt.. update
sparkys2boys wrote: Well, we got thru it! Cameron was such a trooper you guys!! He never said a word, no tears.. nothing!!! He was with the dentist for an hour an a half they did more x-rays, checked all of his teeth, and then did the partial root canal, and capped the tooth. And thank god we have amazing health insurance through dh's work.. the bill was almost $800.00 I almost passed out.. we paid a little over $200.00 the rest is covered He has to go back again and have another tooth done that they see a small dark spot on as leave it to get worse. The rest of his teeth are perfect!! I can't imagine a family that has no coverage.. what would they do.. yikes.
TrulyBlessed replied: That's great news!!!! Way to go, Cameron!!!
We just went through an experience last week. Our daughter has really bad teeth at 4 yrs old, she had 4 teeth pulled, 3 crowns and 8 fillings. It cost us $2,770.00 since we do not have insurance. We had her put to sleep because this was such major work. She is recovering very well, though.
luvmykids replied: Hello!
I'm glad he did so well I'm sure that was a very long hour and a half for mom but at least it's taken care of
MoonMama replied: I'm glad he did so well. WTG Cameron!
sparkys2boys replied: OMG Monica.. how do you do it???? Crap, now I feel terrible I was floored that he could charge SO much for what they done, its crazy. It's a sin that they charge so much, gosh what do people do that just cannot afford it, the poor kids are the ones to suffer
luvmykids replied: You have nothing to feel terrible about, it's not your fault we don't have dental
And ours wasn't quite as expensive, she had two fillings, two root canals, two crowns. When it was all said and done it was about $1500.00, so I mean it was more money but she had more work done, kwim?
I had to space the appointments apart b/c they don't take payment plans so I got the worst one done first and scheduled the next one for when I knew DH would be getting a bonus. Thankfully it wasn't too long in between. Even at that, I feel very blessed we were able to get it taken care of as quickly as we did, a year ago if this had happened I really don't know what we would have done.
I agree, it's way too expensive, I understand its necessary but I think thats why they charge so much, b/c they KNOW the parents will do anything and everything to get it taken care of
sparkys2boys replied: Exactly, they know parents will do anything in there power to get it done for there kids and it's not right at all. I am thankfull we have coverage or we would have been scrambling for the money to.
A&A'smommy replied: thats awesome!!!! yeah it sucks being without insurance.. which btw i'm glad we finally have some. I'm really glad it went so well!!
grandma replied: I'm really glad the little guy did so well. I can't believe the extensive work they do on kids nowadays. I think it's a good idea to let the kids know how expensive it is to do work on their teeth, maybe helping them to brush two times a day and take good care of them. I only say that becuz I had alot of work done as a teenager and always have taken excellant care of my 'expensive' teeth. It is a same how expensive dental care has become. If you don't have dental insurance you can check with your county health department, or state universities.
With that said, my grand daughter that's 2.5 likes to brush her teeth, but I found out she really likes to eat the toothpaste....
luvmykids replied: We do all that good stuff....Macie just got poor teeth in the back of her mouth
3xsthefun replied: I'm glad he done well!
CantWait replied: Glad all went well today.
