Daycare Cost

MyBabeMaddie wrote: How much do you pay for daycare (in-home or at a center/church) each month.
I just found out it will cost me $912 a month when I start working.... Ummm.... That seems like a lot to me?

stella6979 replied: We pay $600.00/month for a Center.

TheOaf66 replied: yeah that seems very very high

lisar replied: I pay Granny $350.00 a month.

And Raygen is 3.5 and potty trained. I know if you are potty trained it makes a diffrence on the price.

Raygen is going to daycare one day a week right now and its $20.00 a day. If she went for the whole week it would be $100.00 a week.

$912.00 a month. I am so in the wrong business. That seems like alot to me.

momofone replied: I think it is a lot cheaper to find someone who does it out of there home.

lesliesmom replied: With the older two in school now, I pay $135/week for DD to go to an in-home daycare.

When they were all in this daycare of the summer I was paying $330/week for all three. This includes breakfast, lunch and snacks and treats...

My2Beauties replied: I pay $600 a month for two kids but I get a huge discount, normally I'd pay that just for one kid wacko.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: we charge $100 for each child under school age a week, and then $50 for the school age child a week...then in the summer when we have her all day, its going up to $300 a week..thats for our in home care.

we also charge for the holidays and times she is off sick..extra..
but we dont charge when she isnt here, but a normal day care does they still have to pay for costs..

kimberley replied: for a daycare centre, it would be $600/mo per child... even for the one who is in school half day. wacko.gif

the nanny we had who came to our house was about $1,200/mo for full days for all the kids.

the sitter we have now to watch the girls at her house is about $900/mo for just the girls.

definitely not cheap

lovemy2 replied: Most centers here are about $600 a month - and part time isn't much cheaper - when I was going to put Dylan in a center two days a week is was going to cost me $440 a month and that was only TWO days....$900 seems excessive..

moped replied: That sounds right to me, but here it is up to $1000.00 per month per child

jem0622 replied: Sadly...that sounds about right.

Kaitlin'smom replied: its a little high for around here, but it also depends on the place. Goddard where i had K for pre K was more expensive than just her sitter, but so worth it. As hard as it was I am glad I paid more what she got was way better than I coudl have ever asked for. I woudl expect tp pay 900 or more for 2 kids not one.

skinkybaby replied: Wow! It gets expensive!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: That sounds about right! I have Wil in preschool for $280 month, ONLY two days a week, HALF days. And that's on the low end in this town. I think to have them in full-time, it's $900 something per month at his school. That's for one child.

DillsMommy replied: And that is the reason I won't be working full time/during the day until Peyton starts school. ohmy.gif That seems high, but I've never really priced daycare's so I have no idea what's "normal"

luvmykids replied: I used to pay $400 a month at a womans house, she had four other kids there. For a center, the going rate here is $800+/mo.

Boo&BugsMom replied: That does seem very high unless you are talking about an infant or toddler (up to 2 years old) which are normally higher rates due to the ratio being lower. However, it really does depend on the area. I use to charge about $165 per child a week for full time (5 full days a week). That included all meals and a full preschool curriculum. I was also very competitive with the larger area centers, so in-home doesn't necessarily mean "cheaper" either. If it does seem high for your area, I would check some more places out to see what kind of fees other centers charge. Check in-home and large center to see which would be the best match. Also, more expensive doesn't always mean better quality either. wink.gif

mummy2girls replied: I charge 550 a month fulltime and then the agency fees on top of that is 125... so in total 675 for full time. At a daycare centre here its at least 990 a month...
