Cutting in or Rolling?

I have been painting since Saturday and after a round of rolling the walls in the kitchen today I realized I do not care much for rolling paint. My arms get fatigued and the paint splatters into little dots everywhere. It is ridiculous I am sure to have a preference but I would much rather do the detail work of edging around the ceiling or trim than to roll paint onto the walls.
Do you have a preference at all?
Boo&BugsMom replied: Preference: rolling. I cut in around the corners and edging with a paintbrush which seems to take forever, then roll the entire wall/ceiling. You can buy splatter guards for the rollers.
grapfruit replied: roll for sure. I hate painting so much. I'm debating whether or not to paint my office. It's a stark WHITE. But I have NO CLUE what colors. I'll be happy to take pictures and post them and get opinions.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I should also mention that when you use a roller, it's much faster and more efficient. Paint may splatter, but actually you will get more dripping from a paintbrush, PLUS it wont go on as thick with a brush and you will find yourself painting forever. Not to mention that paintbrushes leave lines many times, making it look uneven.
I prefer the rolling part myself. I hate tedious (sp?) detailing.
TheOaf66 replied: and she is a painting expert so I would listen to her, she paints everything in our house
Boo&BugsMom replied: Should I mention Troy has been banned from painting anything but ceilings in our house? Even that is questionable. I think he does a lousy job on purpose to get out of it to be honest.
TheOaf66 replied: not true, I am just better at grunt work I guess, not pretty stuff hence the nickname dear it is to detail oriented for me grace is not my strong suit
grapfruit replied: you guys crack me up!
Our Lil' Family replied: I prefer rolling, I think it's fun actually.
JadensMama05 replied: I prefer edging. I like tedious detail work. LOL.
And Jennie & Troy - you guys are funny
coasterqueen replied: Neither. DH is the painter in our family and I play dumb to the whole painting thing so he stays the painter in the family. He tells me all the time I need to learn how, so I try a bit and then do such a terrible job he bans me from doing it again. There are some things IMO that should stay my hubby's job.
ETA the times I've "tried" to paint, I've preferred rolling over cutting in, but overall I much prefer spraying....that was a ton of fun and messy.
holley79 replied: I'm weird. I like both.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I love to paint, but I do like the trim work best. Scotty always laughs. He likes to watch me paint b/c I get so serious and quiet. Hey, it helps me think
PrairieMom replied: You can pick one or the other? around here I get both ends of the job, like it or not!
CantWait replied: I suck at cutting in. I don't understand how some people are so good at it. I get it all over where it shouldn't be. For that reason, I prefer to roll, and with the smallest roller possible If I can get away with it, I prefer none of it
