Crash course in fashion sense please - colors for spring

coasterqueen wrote: Ok, now that I am able to fit into quite a few of my older dress pants I need to know what colors I can and cannot wear for Spring/Summer. blush.gif Yes, I know I'm everyone's worst fashion victim nightmare. blush.gif

I have Camel, Black, dark grey, navy, wine - any of these spring or summer?

TANNER'S MOM replied: I wear all colors all year round! If I am wearing black pants, guachos or something I might pair it with a more spring top. But I don't ever let the color hold me back.

Wear them all since you can and worked hard too..If you want flirty spring..get a cute top!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I agree the color does not matter you worked hard for them to fit. Just get some cute spring/summer tops and it will be fine.

ediep replied: I agree that color doesn't necessarily matter, but the material does.....you don't want to wear black wool pants in the summer

coasterqueen replied: Yeah, I don't have any wool material. But some of my dress pants are lined and I know I can't wear those or else I'll sweat like a pig. wacko.gif Which stinks because several of them are. rolleyes.gif

I definitely need some cute spring tops for sure!

The only one I REALLY wasn't sure about was Camel. For some reason I thought camel was just a winter color. dunno.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I agree with what everyone said...color isn't all that important, but material is. So if it's wool, tweed, lined, hounds-tooth (I think that's what it's called), I would skip those. Camel is a tough color in the spring/summer IMO, but if it's more on the taupe side, I think you can get away with it. Just have fun and mix things up!

moped replied: Camel and browns and taupes are all the rage - go for it!

luvmykids replied:
Camel is one of my favorites, all year round. It looks great with stark white, bold colors, pastels, you name it.

Good job fitting into them! thumb.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: WTG on fitting back into your clothes. thumb.gif

I do not follow fashion too much either, if I did I would be guilty of wearing last years fashions, and 04's and 03's.... rolleyes.gif

But black is always a good choice. Despite "the new black" coming out every year, one yr "the new black" was pink, I think it is green this yr, but I am not positive. Like everyone said pair it with a spring inspired top, fruit colors are great (limes, tangerines, bright peaches) As Jen said camels, taupes, are good choices as well. So go for it! thumb.gif

coasterqueen replied:
This is SO me! Money is so tight that I can't afford to go out and by clothes for every season every year. I have too many other things that need taken care of before that, lol. Even the clothes I'm fitting back into are clothes from before I got pg with Megan so they are 03/04 clothes. blush.gif Oh well, they are new to me again. smile.gif

Thanks everyone for the tips!

luvmykids replied:
For some reason I picture you buying a lot of the stuff that is considered "classics" and I'm sure you'll look great! thumb.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Same here. wink.gif I do buy a couple of outfits each year, but for the most part I'm wearing older clothes that really don't have a 'style'. Like Monica said, they are classics. I even have stuff in my closet from 10 years ago that haven't necessarily gone out of style. I guess I'm hanging on to them hoping I will fit into them some day. Either that or have a career again where I'll actually have a place to wear them. tongue.gif

Just as long as you aren't wearing stuff from the 80's. laugh.gif Of course, it will come around again if you wait long enough. rolling_smile.gif

Really, I think you are safe being that these are work clothes. wink.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: ugh! I hope not. dry.gif

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif There are certain parts of the 80's I wouldn't mind. Didn't the leggings under skirts come back for a short period? That was from the 80's.

C&K*s Mommie replied: Yep! You are right, Karen. And leg warmers made their brief reappearence not too long ago. dry.gif But not for terribly long-- heehee. happy.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Ick! I remember LOVING leg warmers as a kid. I'm so glad they made an extremely BRIEF appearance and not a long one. What was I ever thinking as a kid wearing those things? laugh.gif cool.gif

jcc64 replied: OMG, I was a total leg warmer girl in high school. Wore them over my very tight Sassoon jeans. rolling_smile.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: actually the leggings under skirts ARE back! ohmy.gif I don't remember leg warmers coming back, but I loved those things. laugh.gif

coasterqueen replied:
I knew that the leggings were back and I see them on the teenage girls these days but I remember watching some fashion show recently (not sure why I was watching it, lol, not my thing) and they were saying they really aren't the "in" thing and wish those celebs doing it would stop. laugh.gif

Leg warmers yes, I've seen a few celeb pics of them wearing them. YUCK!

Brias3 replied: I'm loving brown this year so camel sounds perfect. I am able to "spring it up" quite well....in fact, I wore brown, pink and white tones for Easter this year and it looked really nice.

C&K*s Mommie replied: Ick! Let's hope that even though leggings are being called a don't (I did not know they were even back to begin with, Karen) I hope that the oversized t-shirt with a cinched belt, over leggings stays in the distant memories. unsure.gif
