Cramped lungs + stuffy nose =miserable night

Danalana wrote: I didn't go to sleep til after 4:30 this morning sad.gif I just felt like I could not breathe at all and, for some reason, that bothers me tongue.gif Do any of you have any suggestions, besides delivering the baby?

MotherForever2043 replied: I went through that, it was horrible. I pretty much had to deal with it the whole rest of the pregnancy. I tried sleeping on my side...that didn't work dry.gif A lot of pillows, and different positions. Hopefully you can find something that works hug.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: OH I remember that feeling. During your PG, your blood volume increases and I think that's what causes your heart to beat faster, heavier breathing, etc. Not positive, but this comes to mind. If you feel dizzy and/or lightheaded, call your doc. But if it's just pressure in your lungs, then lay down and put your feet up, which sounds like what you did in bed. Drink a glass of water slowly and just try to relax. Breathe deep slow breaths. Just remember your body is working extra hard. The stuffy nose is just a part of being PG. I had it all the time, hormone related is what my doc said.

hug.gif You're almost there!

Danalana replied: Thanks! I'm going to try drinking more water and see if that makes a difference. I have read that it is supposed to thin out secretions, etc...I'm trying to reseach things I can do!

A&A'smommy replied: ummmm humidifier, nose spray (our Dr recommends neo-synephrine) and some vicks vapor rub

Danalana replied: See, it's weird. Right now, my nose isn't clogged at all (it waits for night time), but it still feels like I can't breathe like I want to. Kinda like it's just...heavy.

lovemy2 replied: Try sleeping a little propped up - if you are flat it is worse - lots of pillows or a recliner and I think at this point you are certainly safe to take sudafed - it will help dry you out hug.gif hug.gif

grapfruit replied:
An easier, more comfortable way to do this is to put a pillow under your mattrace. (I know that's spelled wrong).

That way you're not cranning your neck and you don't roll off the pillow, or knock it out from under you.

I do this when I'm sick and it helps a bunch! thumb.gif

Danalana replied: Thanks girls....last night was a lot better. I figured out what was making it so bad. It wasn't that I was sick or anything (except for the typical clogged nose), it was anxiety symptoms. I should have thought about this before, but I just never put it together. I had the sudden accelerated heartrate and heavy feeling in the chest....a panicked feeling. I've had it before, though not since I've been pregnant. So anyway, last night I fell asleep on the couch while watching tv. I slept a couple of hours there and then made my way to bed. It didn't take me too long to go to sleep. Other than frequent peeing, I slsept pretty well. Thanks for all the suggestions ladies.

hug.gif hug.gif Glad you had a better night. The recliner REALLY worked for me on bad nights when I was pregnant.

Danalana replied: We don't even have a recliner sad.gif We have a couch and love seat in our living room, but we will definitely be getting a recliner when we move out (hopefully soon). Honestly, our living room is too small to add a recliner without eliminating one of the other seating areas. I can't wait to move out!

Kaitlin'smom replied: tell the kid to MOVE laugh.gif your hurting mommy
