Can you tell I'm into pink/girly/floral print car seats? I know this is far in advance, but I'm wondering about car seats and when to switch Ashton to one like this...I love the one that pops into his stroller and into the car, and I know these ones are stationary, obviously, but any tips or suggestions on car seats and when to switch, etc. would be appreciated. I like these girly ones, haven't found too many cute boy ones yet though... Thanks!
mamasbigbaby replied: It just depends what Ashtons carseat is like.
coasterqueen replied: Gonna put Ashton in a girly carseat? Oh boy, my hubby would be all over this one! ETA: Oh you aren't wanting this for Ashton, you are wanting this for the new baby?
Well if you have the money go with the Britax ones if you can. If money is an issue, then I'm not sure. I'd have to do some research to see what is the latest and safest one out there before giving my opinion.
Love the prints though. I think it's the second one..I like that one the best!
C&K*s Mommie replied: I voted for the third one.
There are guidelines most of the time on the box of the car seat about when to switch. For our carseats (not convertible) they were 20lbs and 12mos to face forward. Now that the girls are in 5pt harness/belt adjusting boosters they are different guidelines as to when I can allow them to use the belt positioning portion.
3_call_me_mama replied: I like the yellow one If Kathleen were getting a new seat that's what she'd be getting. We are skipping that baby bucket thing (infant carrier) this time and going straight for a convertible. My mom got us a britax marathon as a gift for the new baby. So we didn't get to pick a print she did. It's rated 5 lbs and up.. My kids were both born over 7 1/2 lbs so i think we're safe there. Also I plan to use the sling a lot so i think it's a waste ot buy that carrier one since my kids tend ot outgrow them before 3 months old (too tall not too heavy~ which people often forget to check and just go by weight) I agree with Karen though, go with a britax if you can, just cause they are rated higher in safety and are really comfortable. (Although I would have to save for quite a while to afford one myself.. gotta love nana!!)
ashtonsmama replied: I think it's a...who knows...I'll see if I can find a pic...
ETA: the picture
This is what my MIL and FIL bought for us (they actually gave us a Target card for $500 and let us pick obviously)...we love it, and he does still fit in there, he's just getting heavier...
ashtonsmama replied: Thanks Karen. And yes, I probably did confuse you, sorry, I do mean for Savannah, if we should just go straight to convertibles like Carrie's doing...I need to get Ashton one first though, he's already getting heavy and big for his carry-around seat...
ashtonsmama replied: Sorry to keep posting. It's a Peg Perego after all.
boyohboyohboy replied: HI Amanda! I think all the girly ones are so cute! I hope I am lucky enough to have a girl next time! I am so ready for pink! anyway, Jake was put into the larger car seat, at 4 months, he just felt to cramped in the smaller infant one. He is less fussy now that he can see out the window and look around more. I have an alpha omego sport, its cute and looks like a small recliner chair. He was also just to heavy for me to be carrying around...speaking of that, how heavy is ashton, and is it ok for you to carry him in an infant seat?
Its so much easier to switch car seats once they can sit up alone, so when you go to the store or a restraunt you have a place to set them done, either a cart or a highchair.....
redplaydoh replied: I LOVE the Britax car seats. We had one for our boys, navy with dog bones and paw prints. I voted for the greenish one simply because I have a friend with the yellow floral print one and it really shows stains. I think the last print wouldn't show as bad.
Boo&BugsMom replied: We never had an infant seat for Tanner. He was in a convertable seat from day one. The one we got went from 5 pounds up to 30, I think. Less transition. He's in a booster now though.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I like carseat #1 and #3....Im sooo going cute and girly when/if I have a baby girl too!!
I cant remember when we switched Alex from his carrier to the convertible carseat, probably around 6-8 monthes, I know he was getting heavy in the carrier seat too!
This is the car seat we have right now $50 at Walmart!
Braydensmommy replied: We have a Britax and  it. Can't go wrong with a Britax
ashtonsmama replied: Thanks ladies--and Stacy, he's now 17 lbs. and some odd ounces, I think 4 the last time we went to the Dr.
So I can still carry him, it's good excercise though...
kristy-n-chad replied: I like the third the best, but voted for the first. It won't show stains as bad.
mamasbigbaby replied: Kristy, greaat way to put it!
ashtonsmama replied: Thanks for the votes. Time to find one for A now, huh?
7thHeaven replied: For Savannah, I love the colors on the 3rd one, but the 1st one has the thing that will hold her head up when she's younger and a place to put a bottle or sippie cup. So, I'm torn between the two...
ashtonsmama replied: Thanks Jamie.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I had no idea that they made car seats in girls prints. I'm way out of touch with things.
ashtonsmama replied: They do! Glad to see you on Kirsten!
I'm going to read your update, just saw it.
Heather77 replied: I like the 3rd one!! Are those Britax?
This is the one we have for Brynne (also a Britax), and I love it!
ashtonsmama replied: Hey Heather! Thanks for the recommendation, It's always nice to hear from people who actually have the product and use it! I cannot believe Brynne is already 1 month old!
I LOVE the one you have...hmmmm...
