Contact Lens - Do you wear them?

TeagansMom609 wrote: I just got contacts for the first time today and I had to take them out as soon as I got home, they were so uncomfortable. I felt like I had an eyelash stuck in my eye the whole time. Does that mean they dont fit right? I dont know anything about contacts. blink.gif I have only had them for a few hours and already they seem like such a pain in the butt. It took me over an hour to put them in by myself before I left Lenscrafters today.

Jamison'smama replied: I have had them for YEARS and I don't even notice them in my eyes anymore. I cannot remember what it was like when I first started wearing them but now if they have that eyelash feeling it is either I have put it in inside out or they don't fit right--do you have a fit check scheduled with your doctor?

I would imagine you are supposed to wear them for an hour the first day, more the second etc. Is that right? Hang in there---contact shouldn't hurt.

TeagansMom609 replied:
I was supposed to wear them for four hours today, and then more each day. Then im supposed to go back next Sunday for a check up.

mckayleesmom replied: I wore the colorfresh blends once for a while and I finally gave up....they always felt like something was in my eyes.

TANNER'S MOM replied: They do take some getting used too..

If you have discomfort then they don't fit right...

One big clue is to keep them moist and not let them get dry at all.. Blink is my favorite eye drops..

And when you put them in.. it is sometimes easier to moisten you eye first..
look to your ceiling .. and roll yours then close.. when you open they should be in the right place.. If this doesn't help..these may not be the right ones for you eye shape.

Good Luck

zdk753 replied: When I first got my contacts it felt like something was in my eyes for the first couple of days. Now I don't notice them. It was hard, but I made myself keep them in for at least a couple of hours.

A&A'smommy replied: I honestly don't remember I have been wearing contacts for about 4 years I rarely ever take them out I forget about them blush.gif

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Mine were awesome if it only felt like an eyelash laugh.gif
I had so many problems with them I gave up atfter like 4 brands and 3 months. THough with the lenses my eyes excepted they did get more comfortable the longer I wore them.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I've been wearing them for 12 years now. And I agree, if they hurt or feel scratchy, they probably don't fit right. Also, keeping your eyes wet helps for the first few days while you're getting used to them.

gr33n3y3z replied: I've been wearing them for over 20 years and I love them

I only had problems like that with J&J brands

Ask for a B&L brand

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I've been wearing them for about 18 years, so I can't remember how they felt when I first tried them on. But I imagine if they bother you, maybe it's the wrong prescription. Mine get dry easily, but never feel like an eyelash in my eye unless of course I really have an eyelash stuck on one! Good luck finding a good fit! blink.gif

sunshine girls replied: I've had them for years, it sounds like they don't fit right. Or your eyes are to dry, maybe you could try getting some eyedrops that you can put in with contacts. I have this solution that you wash them with, and if you put a drop on the inside before you put them in they feel really comfortable.
It happened to me when I first got them, but it was just the fact I wasn't used to them. Try only wearing them for an hour a day, then a few more until you can wear them all day.

~KARA~ replied: It could be cause your prego!! My contacts were really uncomfortable when I was prego.

elvisfan replied: I've worn them for 11yrs now and at first they did annoy me and it did take me forever to put them in! If they still bother you when you go back in for your checkup then they probably don't fit right. They do take a little time to get used to them though. I use acuvue 2 which are supposed to hold moisture better.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: When Dh got his prescription renewed and got his new contacts a few months ago they were super uncomfortable and stopped wearing them after he realized they weren't getting better. He's supposed to go back and get new ones but he hasn't yet. rolleyes.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I have been wearing since I was 11. The only time they have ever been uncomfortable is if I try a different brand. I cannot wear Fresh Look contacts. I have to wear AcuVue. wink.gif

I hope you find a great fit. It will get better.

Kaitlin'smom replied: sounds like you need a different type, I have been wearing them on and off for YEARS got them again when Kait was a baby. I love mine and so comfortable, but you do need to keep they moist, you might need a brand that helps with that, also I have asigmatisum and they have ones for that as well. I just had my follow up and one thing my doc taguht me with these they have weights in them to keep them in place and if they are not in the right place they are uncomfortable. Also when I fell like there is something in them liek an eyelash there most like there is , or it could be they have a tear

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I have worn them for 10 years now. I didn't have a problem with them when I first got them and still don't have a problem with them. My doctor put them in for me when I first got them to make sure I could handle them. Did they do that at lenscrafters???? Hope they work out for you, I love them and glad I don't have to wear my glasses anymore!!!!
