Cleaning out closet & found a brown recluse

I don't know about you all, but everytime I find a brown spider I look for a violin on it's back and compare it to the photos on-line. It's been so dry here. We really need to spray more often. These things freak me out!

When we built our house in Wylie we had a REAL problem with those since we were the first house on the street, when they were building the rest, they drove the others out of the ground and toward our house. Poor Andrew got bit several times on his butt and has HUGE scars and stuff from them.

I am so glad he was dead! But still be careful..I have heard things like those can still be poisionous after they die.

Yeah, I didn't touch it. It was on a shoe and I scooted it off into a bag. Did I mention they freak me out?

I did get bit by a poisonous spider in the spring. I'm not sure what bit me, but I was put on antibiotics and it took forever for the 'bruising' to go away.

ITA, It is good to live north where the bugs die during the winter!! I think I would have nightmares forever if I found one of those monsters.

5littleladies replied: Ick! I can handle daddy long legs, but that is about it. Last week when I was in the nursery at church the kids found a spider on a toy and one of the little boys ended up killing the thing because I screamed when it crawled toward me.

I'm glad your spider was dead! Those things are scary!

Calimama replied: Yuck. A canyon was cleared out basically to make room to build houses on base so there are alll kinds of bugs around... as well as coyotes and roadrunners. I never get used to seeing those kinds of things though.

huggybugboy replied: ICK!!! I've never really been scared of spiders until last week when some girls at school ran out of the bathroom screaming at school. I have never seen a spider that big, except in cages. It was brown and hairy and the sickest looking thing I've ever seen. I feel your pain!

Boo&BugsMom replied: A friend of our families got bit by one of those BRS and she had to get a large chunk of her leg taken out where the venom ate away at her skin. BLAH! We really don't have them up here thank God, but it doesn't mean one wont ever show up sometime. I still keep my eyes peeled. I hate spiders to begin with.

DillsMommy replied: OMG! I'm so scared of brown recluses. I've seen pictures were they actually leave holes in your skin were they bite you. My DH caught one once and kept it in an empty coke bottle and it made a huge web inside. SO Gross! I'm glad yours was dead.

omg, really, it made a web inside the coke bottle?! that's kind of cool, actually. i know i'm weird but i think spider webs are beautiful and they are oddly enough, mathematically perfect.
but i hate brown recluses, i know someone who got bitten by one and he couldn't go to work for months b/c that's how long it took to recover...ouch!
i love tarantulas though, they're furry and soft.
