Cleaning behind/under fridge and stove - How often do you do it?

But I'm still haunted by what I saw, I usually do it a few times a year but from the looks of it nobody has ever done it in this house So now I have no choice but to steel myself and do it but I'm not sure I can stomach it.

AlexsPajamaMama replied: We have lived her for a year and I just recently had DH pull the fridge out. My only intentions were to rescue a bunch of alphabet magnets but I did sweep, didn't wash it though.

Actually we pull our refrigerator out a couple times a year to clean the lint and whatever else accumulates in there. I have to admit though, the only reason I do that is because a refrigerator we no longer have nearly burnt the house down. Imagine the headlines.... "Fire Chief Doesn't Under Fridge, Home Burns."

Umm... that wouldn't be very good. lol

C&K*s Mommie replied: Our stove is jimmied in the hole tightly. There is no getting it out, at will. It will require at least three people to get it out, Chris and I tried before.

Our fridge was cleaned under when the water/ice line was put in about a yr-yr and a half ago. That is the last time it was done. Before that we had our old fridge replaced with another one that was given to us. And when we moved the old one, we had to clean the space.

kit_kats_mom replied: I pulled them both out when I painted the kitchen a few weeks ago. Thanks to the maid, who does it monthly, I only had a few dust bunnies to contend with and a drip down the side of the stove. Have I mentioned how much I love my maid?

~~*Missi*~~ replied: Ok my oven is build into the wall so i never have to clean behind it and underneath it is the kitchen floor so thats done daily. the stove is a range top on built in the cupboard and that is done after every use... The fridge i do daily because sabrina throws her toys back there daily so i have to pick them out cause she will have a cow so mine is voted weekly but really daily...
did i mention i have ocd lol

She's outrageously expensive but she's amazing. She brings in two of her employees for 3 hours every other week. I started out at 4 hours and she charged me 175/week for the first few weeks so she could get the house in shape. The first few weeks she cleaned all of the lights, ceiling fans, grout, under all appliances, baseboards, mattresses, inside the cabinets, scraped off all of the builder glue from the inside and outside windows and cleaned all of the plant shelves. Now that that is under control & I am able to maintain a decent level of tidiness, it only takes them 3 hours every two weeks and it's $125.00. Totally worth it though since 1. We can swing it financially and 2. I get to spend way more time with my kids. These are the kind of things I'd be doing if it weren't for her and it really frees me u p.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Behind the stove...once a month. Behind the fridge...maybe twice a year. I would clean under the fridge more but we have an ice maker and last time I moved the fridge I disconnected the water line and water started spraying all over. I wont move it myself anymore.

We've been here 3 years and the stove hasn't been moved and never will be unless it breaks.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Um - I cleaned where the fridge and stove were when we moved in at the beginning of april, and again when my kitchen was painted in may, but I usually do it around the same time I switch out my seasonal stuff.

CantWait replied: I can't say I've ever pulled the fridge out in this house. As for the stove probably once a year.

We really should pull the fridge out more often though, you're suppose to vaccum the back of it to save on energy costs.
