Christmas decorations

HuskerMom wrote: When do you put up your Christmas decorations? I'm all anxious to put ours up this year. Last year Keith was only a couple months old so he really didn't know what was going on. But now I can't wait! But I think it's still a little early. I'm thinking about waiting til Thanksgiving, if I can be that patient. rolleyes.gif

lisar replied: Normally the weekend after thanksgiving is when I start.

Anthony275 replied: ha... 2 weeks or so prior then down right after christmas

moped replied: Well I hate to say it but I am a tota scrooge. I have been trying to get better in recent years........LOL

I will be off work Dec 1 so I will send Tom for a tree and likely Jack will be pumped to do it right away!

PrairieMom replied: My rule is I can put up holiday decorations the first of the month that its in, unless it is in the beginning of the month, in that case i put them up 2 weeks prior. wink.gif

I have a bunch of imposing stuff for Christmas decorations, so i will wait until about 2 weeks before. It will probably come down before new years.

luvmykids replied: The day after Thanksgiving.

My2Beauties replied: We usually do it by the first week in December, now that we have an artificial tree I'll probably put it up the day after Thanksgiving.

Jamison'smama replied: I'm excited too--I want to do it right now!!

coasterqueen replied: I'm pretty excited too this year. Not sure why. happy.gif We always put ours up the day after Thanksgiving but we will be coming back from Georgia then so I'm not sure when I'll do it. Probably the week after Thanksgiving.

CantWait replied: Usually around the 15 or so of November. I'm holding off this year until I know whether or not I'll be here for Christmas.

Brias3 replied: We have gone for our tree the day after Thanksgiving- we cut our own down for the living room and have a fake one in the basement.

Decorations, I try to get Bruce to put up sometime over that weekend following Thanksgiving, if not the next. I LOVE Christmas so like to have the decor out for awhile, however I'm kind of a Clark Griswold about it, so we have a million lights for outside the house, etc. DH is not a fan of getting up on the roof for an entire day lol

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I usually want to put them up as soon as they're up in stores.

But, dh makes me wait until I can't wait anymore and break down and become a total witch...then he lets me put up one box. Then makes me wait for the next box. And so on. Usually by december 21st they're all up. laugh.gif

MommyToAshley replied: The day after Thanksgiving, unless we host our family's Thanskgiving dinner. Then, I put it up the day before so it's decorated for Thanksgiving dinner.

I am bad about taking them down though. blush.gif blush.gif

jcc64 replied: OMG, guys, am I the only one here who resents the fact that the Christmas season now seems to start the day after Halloween instead of Thanksgiving? Idk, I love the decorations and the cozy feelings they bring, but to me, the Christmas season also represents unwanted obligations- the shopping (I hate to shop), the obscene amount of $$$ we spend, the relentless commericals,etc.. When I see the decorations, it just reminds me of all the things I haven't done yet. And in the end, at the very least, I like the autumn leaves to be off the trees before I start thinking about Christmas.
Sounds like I'm in the minority around here, though. What else is new??? rolling_smile.gif

5littleladies replied: We put ours up the day after Thanksgiving. Jas and the girls would rather we just get right to it asap, but I like Thanksgiving to have a shot at being a holiday first. tongue.gif

Calimama replied: Usually right after Thanksgiving but with DH gone this year I'm going to wait until the last possible second. I don't want a tree sitting there reminding me of how he's missing it. sad.gif

3xsthefun replied: We usually wait until a week or two before Christmas.

luvmykids replied:
I am BEYOND annoyed that this year there were Christmas items in the same aisle as Halloween growl.gif For me, it just marks the outrageous commercialism and also, for me, takes away from the Christmas season when it gets dragged out for so long rolleyes.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Ditto

holley79 replied: We usually wait till the weekend after Thanksgiving. I can't wait this year either. blush.gif

MotherForever2043 replied: December 1st smile.gif
