Christian and a possible preschool
C&K*s Mommie wrote: Chris has always been adament that he wanted our girls to attend public school. I have always been against it for our girls, but it was not a cause worth fighting for. As long as they get an education in a school somewhere, plus the reinforcements here at home, it was not a bother to me. Until last night when the fire was reignited to have them attend private school.
A classmate and I were talking about her plans to enroll her daughter into a private school here. I was intrigued at the positives of this place. I had only heard some negative things about this academy. I looked online, and there are so many positives about this place that I am completely hooked. I plan to go talk with them hopefully next Monday, and if all looks well than we can get the ball rolling on getting Christian enrolled.
One good thing is, is that at 6 she can enter the first grade. Instead of just entering kindergarten at 6 ys/o, because her birthday is in November. Plus if she attends K-4 & K-5 she will get first grade tuition free.
Chris, was interested in this place, even before I finished telling him about it. So this is looking like a good thing so far....
luvmykids replied: Hope you like it when you visit! I'm just starting the process of finding one for the twins, it's a little daunting. You've got a big jump on me!
C&K*s Mommie replied: Best wishes Monica, on finding a preschool!
Well there is one that all I have heard was good things about, I am not sure if they offer preschool, though. But grade school and up I know they do. However, it is clear across town. I have no reason to go that far across town other than to the park, or if we are headed to the beach, otherwise it is a far drive compared to this one not too far up the road in the middle of everything.

What state are you in?
With Eliana being a Nov baby as well she will start Kindergarten 3 months before turning 6 and entering 1st grade 3 months before turning 7. I'm not fond of this. The preschool sounds great. Keep us updated.
DansMom replied: That sounds like a promising place---how exciting!
Daniel's a November baby, too. In Michigan the cutoff date for school is December, so he's among the youngest in his class. In many other states, he would need to wait another year and be among the oldest---strange to think about, since a year at this age can make such a huge difference.
MyLuvBugs replied: Sounds like a nice place. I only worry about costs associated with private school. Hope you have a great visit there though. KUP!!
Can I ask why you're not into public schools? I'm just curious.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I really hope you are able to! It is my dream to send Tanner to a private school but I am unsure if that will be possible for us.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I think those cut off dates are crazy in some states. Here is WI it makes sense to me. The cut off is by the first day of school so the kids have to turn 5 by the time school starts. But, I guess however you look at it, there will always be an age gap somewhere.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I in no way can speak for Nicole, but for me, I would like Tanner to be in an environment where morals are taught, focused on, and reinforced. It makes a big difference in the atmosphere of the school, families, and teachers, in my opinion.
MommyToAshley replied: Sounds like a really promising place. I'm glad for you, I know this has been a concern with you. I am anxious to find out if it all works out for you.
I am wanting to tighten the budget and send Ashley to private school for Kindergaren. I don't care for our public school system. All preschools are privately funded here... it's not part of our public school system. But, it is no where near as expensive as private grade school. Why couldn't we have passed the school vouchers. (sorry... had to slip that in)
Please keep us updated and let us know what you decide!
Boo&BugsMom replied: DITTO!
C&K*s Mommie replied: Well I am knocking public schools in every district here in this town, or even Florida in general, but I feel as though the education is far more focused in private schools than it is in public schools. I also like the idea of smaller classes, for more personalized attention. And if there is an area where one child is more knowledgeable than other students there progress is not impeded since that may be a better area of knowledge for them, and so on. I am trying to walk a thin line, and not sound harsh against public schools, if that is where they are meant to go then that is fine by me. But if I have the choice, than I would prefer them to go to a more structured school, where they can excel and advance because of the more focused curriculum, and smaller class sizes in comparison.
C&K*s Mommie replied: oh and the controversial FCAT's are not a main focus throughout the school year as they are with public schools.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Teachers not having to deal with NCLB makes a difference as well.
