Child Dies In Hot Day-Care Transport Vehicle - this is !@!@

natchie wrote: DUNCANVILLE, Texas -- Duncanville police say an infant left inside a day-care transport vehicle for much of Wednesday was found dead after a relative of the victim went to a day-care center and couldn't find the child.

Officials say 8-month-old Jordan Thomas was found in the back seat of a blue sport utility vehicle near Central Elementary School in the 300 block of East Freeman Street.

Workers at the T&T Tots Day Care & Nursery in the 7000 block of Greenspan in Oak Cliff called the driver after they couldn't find the boy. The driver searched the vehicle and when he found the victim, called 911 around 3:30 p.m.

The baby had been in the vehicle since about 7:30 a.m., Dallas Police Department spokesman Sgt. Curtis Brown said.

"Someone had placed the baby in a carrier seat between the back seat and the door. Whoever was driving forgot about it or didn't know about it," Brown said.

Police say the death was heat related as temperatures reached the upper 90s Wednesday afternoon.

Brown said possible charges are pending.

ediep replied: OH MY GOD!!!! That is tragic!!

mckayleesmom replied: That is so horrible. Why have people not learned to double check their cars and vans ,,,etc..yet... I always make sure mckaylee is the first one out of the vehicle before groceries, etc.... And even if shes not with me I open the back door out of habit. Unfortunately I have to say that I feel sorry for the parents for their loss and I think they should be held accoutable, but I can also see how this happens. How many people double check their cars when they get out? Alot of people don't. And alot of people get into a daily habit of how and where they drop off their kids and if it gets messed up, bamm...they forget..I think we should all vow to double check our cars even if our little ones arn't with us...make it a routine whenever you get out.

dolfinrse replied: That is so tragic.....

Schnoogly replied: Why do these things always happen in/around day care centers??? Now I'm freaked out. Iain won't be getting in any cars with them ever unless it's an emergency!!

CantWait replied: How horrible mad.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: OMG that is so tragic, that poor little baby and his parents! sad.gif

MommyToAshley replied: OMG! That poor family! My heart goes out to them. I cry everytime I hear one of these stories!

The daycare should be shut down...didn't they notice the boy was missing?? He was missing from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm!!!!

MomofTay&Sam replied: Horrible! The parents trusted these fools. Now who is suffering??

supermom replied:
No joke - if you are supposed to be in charge of a child - be it infant, toddler, preschooler or school age, wouldn't you NOTICE that they are NOT at your daycare?????? I used to take my daycare kids all over the town - especially in the summer, we would go to the library and the pool - and never, ever, ever did one stay in the car - we ALWAYS counted heads when we got there and when we got back.

That is total and complete incompetence on the part of the daycare - it is SO SAD that people just have such small regard for human life!! Can they not check? What is wrong with this picture? I just can't believe that one more child is gone because of someones incompetence.

coasterqueen replied: This is just terrible. I hate news like this. I fear this every day my child is at the sitter!

The sad thing is I watched a news program a couple of weeks back that was blaming parents for these types of events happening. An expert (woman) on the show said that if women would stay home with their children then things like this would not happen! WHAT! She also commented on the fact that she felt daycare providers should not be "responsible" for these "accidents" because they are doing the best they can.

I was so upset about this program I immediately shut it off! How sick!

supermom replied:
That woman "expert" ought to be strung up by the toes and shot at with small, painful objects!! That is nothing but a joke......wonder how many "near misses" she's had so that she can vindicate her guilt about feeling responsible?

amynicole21 replied:
I refused to sign the consent form for Sophia's daycare that said she could be transported by them. I would rather her be picked up by an ambulance or an emergency contact if something horrible happened.

Heather replied: AWW that is so horrible. That is one of the reasons why I can't trust someone I do not know to take care of Alison. I would lose my mind if something happened to her. I woudl just die.

MommyToAshley replied:
You know, I think they should be prosecuted. I realize it was an accident, but these places have to realize that they are responsible for these children. However, no punishment will be as bad as living with the fact that they killed a child! bawling.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
That is sick. We don't live in that kind of world anymore. She must of been of the old and old fashioned type. You know sometimes a woman has to work too so their children can eat. I am a SAHM right now, but when Jade gets just a little older I plan to start working from home. The day care should be held accountable for this. They should have noticed that an 8 month old was missing. This just saddens me.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: That is SO sad.

I signed the consent form for my sitter to drive him places - but the ONLY places she is to drive them, is to Playgroup, usually on Thursday mornings, and if it should happen, to the hospital for an emergency.

She only has 2 other children - Brian, who is 4, and Ben, who only comes 2 mornings a week. She is great, and her husband is at home also.

If she should EVER forget my child in the car, and something like that happened to him, I would kill her myself.
