Check list for the hospital

MoonMama wrote: I'm almost 36 weeks and I have packed nothing for the hospital! unsure.gif Can everyone help me with what I need to pack? I have looked at lists online and such, but I thought you guys could give me a better list. Also anyone know the best place to go to get a crib mattress? TIA hug.gif

Nina J replied: Well, the hospital provided us with clothes for Odessa when she was born. Although I couldn't resist trying a few outfits on her, DH bought them in for me. And one for her to wear home.

This is what I remember taking:

Soap and other bathroom products. (hair brush, shampoo and conditioner, etc.)
Pyjama's, I took a few pairs so I could change and feel fresh.
Clothes, if you want to get dressed during the day (I didn't though, not until I went home..other mothers were walking around dressed and I was in my pj's laugh.gif )
Your camera thumb.gif
For a touch of home you could take your own pillow, I did.
Maternity pads, when I had Emily the hospital gave me ones that were so uncomfortable. I found one's that were comfortable, and took plenty when I had Odessa.

Umm..I can't remember what else. Hope that helps though happy.gif

ediep replied: cd player and CD's for labor
camera
cel phone
insuranse card
hair bands if you have long hair
glasses, contacts

at my hospital, I didn't need anythiing for the baby except clothes to go home in. They provided bottles, formula, blankets, diapers,

ediep replied: oh, and I'd go to babies r us for a crib matterss

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I think I packed best this last time because I didn't have way too much.
(I delivered at Memorial so this is what they had)
Hospital takes baby to the newborn nursery (dh went with him) the same time that I was moved to Mother and Baby and does the bath and another check to make sure they are regulating their temp and All that fun stuff. When they come to the room they are comming with a pack of newborn diapers and wipes, the nose sucker thing, and some white shirts and recieving blankets.
What I brought for baby (granted it was pink so that was a waste) Long sleeve onsies, A going home outfit and One of the fleece zip up blanket things...I suck at swaddeling and the hospital is so cold that I felt much moer comfortable knowing that if he wiggled out he would stay warm. I used everything I brought (well once dh replaced it with blue smile.gif )
What I brought for me. 2 pairs of visitor acceptable jammies...(both black pants just incase) 1 pack of pads for when the bleedibng slowed down a little...with the horrible bleeding the hospital pads are awesome but once those weren't needed the thin extra long vernight always pads are way more comfortable. then my travel bathroom stuff. I got to take a shower and brush my hair and teeth while Johnny was still in the newborn nursery. It is amazing how much better I felt just cleaning up and putting on clothes after birth.
oh yeah I also brought clothes for me to go home in...two different sizes of Jeans because I wasn't positive which would fit.

And Crib mattess BRU. but just because I was already there. Target has them too.

amynicole21 replied: If you are planning to nurse, bring a boppy. Also, some flip flops for the shower wink.gif and your baby book for them to put footprints in.

TheOaf66 replied: our hospital has DVD players in the rooms so we have to bring some DVD's as well since last time when Tanner was born we had 4 stations and they all had infomercials on blink.gif I kind of leave that up to Jennie what she is going to want there...I just carry it laugh.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: Something else - You are going to be really hungry once you deliver the baby (most women are) so I would suggest taking some snacks with you since the vending machines are so expensive. And also - make sure your husband has a bag of his toiletries and stuff because most dads dont leave the hospital either.

holley79 replied: I got my crib matteress at Target. It was one of the pedic ones. I will look at it when I get home. Looks like everyone gave you great lists. Not much longer now. hug.gif

Swood75 replied: also,if you are planning on nursing, then extra nursing bras and nursing pads.. wink.gif I got my mattress at good old Wally world...LOL

MoonMama replied:
I'm delivering there too, so very good information to know thanks. thumb.gif

Thanks everyone Braedin is starting to drop already! greenapple.gif I'm excited and scared! bawling.gif biggrin.gif

paradisemommy replied: don't forget your list of people to call along with phone numbers, extra batteries for anything that needs them (cd player, digital camera, regular camera, etc.)
