Changing the channels?

atlantamomof2 wrote: happy.gif Joshua has started pushing the buttons on the t.v.s and I really wouldn't mind except that my DD is the one he's disturbing. She likes watching the t.v. in the livingroom (which is where he is a lot of the time). I hate to have to send her upstairs to watch something but she makes a big deal out of it when he does it and I think she's encouraging him, inadvertently. He does not respond to "No" He either smiles or cries like I hurt his feelings and then does it again immediately. We've tried putting a cushion (like a futon) in front of the t.v. and he can move it. We also tried adding his entertainer and he manuevered around it too. dry.gif Any ideas?

kimberley replied: DUCT TAPE!

no, not your child, the tv! rolling_smile.gif it doesn't look pretty but if you tape across the front panel where the buttons are, it will be harder for him to push hard enough to change the channel since they are usually recessed. Jade does this constantly, we just redirect her. rolleyes.gif

A&A'smommy replied: UGH Alyssa has been doing that since she noticed them oohhh at about 9 months old wink.gif Its SO aggravating onestepahead.com has tv/dvd/vcr guards guards I'm seriously looking getting!

I don't think my DH would let me put duct tape on his precious t.v.!! blink.gif but I am going to go to Babies R Us today and see if they have a t.v. guard. I know they have vcr gaurds, so I'm hopeful.

atlantamomof2 replied:
Thank you for the link. That's a great idea. It reminded me that I think I've seen something like that at Babies R us so I'm going to look today and if they don't have anything I'm going to order one from that website. (I really need it TODAY!) wacko.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I have the TV guard, works great....well it did, she has now figured how to lean it slighlty foward to turn the tv on or off. wacko.gif silly girl

LOVE THE DUCK TAPE IDEA laugh.gif

Josie83 replied: That must be so annoying. Cassie will not go anywhere near the TV because she is so scared of getting shouted at by her daddy - since she was able to walk and has gone up to the TV when Daddy and her uncles are watching the football she would get shouted at to move or just "NO" when she was making a beeline for it so she stays right away from it. Honestly, the poor little thing. If she goes anywhere near it she always has her eyes on Jason thinking he's goign to shout at her for getting in the way of his precious football rolleyes.gif *sigh* xx

laugh.gif rolling_smile.gif Well, apparently their technique worked, but it may not have been the most sensitive option! LOL

atlantamomof2 replied: Update:

I bought a t.v guard this morning and it works great! thumb.gif It's clear and it slides under the t.v. and then up over the buttons. It was only $8.99 (I would have probably paid $20 to solve this problem!) biggrin.gif

Thanks for everyone's help. thumb.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: your welcome thumb.gif glad you got it solved.

Josie83 replied:
Tell me about it. But you're right, it has worked - she stays well away from the Tv! xx

ediep replied: DH and I always say that we are sooooooooo happy that when we bought our family room tv we chose one that doesn't have buttons on the front. The buttons are on the top. Whenever we go to someone elses house though, Jason always has to play with the buttons. wacko.gif
