Card counting. - I'm so petty

PrairieMom wrote: This year I sent out 51 Christmas cards with a letter and photo to our friends and family.
I was just counting how many we have recieved, and as of today, we have 20.
It makes me really sad to think that I care about so many people, but only 1/2 of them care about me! bawling.gif
Rationally I understand that not everyone gets a card out, and that people are busy, blahblah.gif blahblah.gif blahblah.gif . I think I just need to have a personal little pitty party! I feel like this every year. Am I the only one that gets annoyed about this?

moped replied: Gosh I hope you don't really feel that way - I don't send out cards, cause my life is too crazy, but I love it when my freinds send cards, and they know I don't. But I hope to one day - but not this year.........................and maybe not next - LOL

C&K*s Mommie replied: I do not only because I am not 100% at sending cards out every yr. Some years I do, some years I do not.

PrairieMom replied: i'm a really sensitive person who seeks personal validation through others. dry.gif I also watch to much starting over! laugh.gif
The whole thing really gets me down. I put thought, time and energy into the cards that I send, and when I don't get one back I feel like noone thinks of me! wacko.gif
I know its crazy. I think I'm just lonely, and need a friend!
laugh.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif 's for you! smile.gif

moped replied:
Ok...........send me your address and I will mail a card out NOW!!! LOL............kidding.

Even if you don't get a card, you can bet many many people are thinking of you this season!!!

PrairieMom replied: laugh.gif now I feel way better! laugh.gif
Maybe next year I will do "revenge " card sending. Anyone that doesn't send me a card this year is off the list for next year! laugh.gif Their loss! cool.gif

Insanemomof3 replied:
I know how you feel, I need friends too! I only have one, Jaimie (moxee24). I will be your friend! smile.gif

ETA: and of course I do have my friends on here, just thought I should add that one. wink.gif

moped replied: YOu should - you ccan bet the year after you will get millions of cards. I don't send, but you have no idea how thrilled I am when someone sends me picture of their family. I get very exxcited. So, know that when you send out cards, you are making someones day!!!!!!

moped replied:
Ahhhhhhh soooo sweet!

I will be your freind too - I think we live in the same Province!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: We dont' even get 20, but we send out 100 every year. You read that right...100 cards. I quit caring a long time ago. When we first got married it really bothered me. Especially since you HAVE to send one to EVERY member of Scotty's family or they actually CALL you and complain. huh.gif But, you never see a card from them. rolleyes.gif Every year I say I will forego sending cards and Scotty won't let me. It gets to be a huge expense, but as long as he is willing to pay for it what do I care?

Sorry I got off on my own rant, but I know just how you feel. wink.gif hug.gif

CantWait replied: I know how you feel. This year I sent out approx 50 cards also. I don't even have 20 back. Some of the ones I did get back, I only got because I gave. Gee thanks, that feels heartfelt. Serously though, some years I don't send cards out, other years I do. It just depends on what I have going on at the time. Some people don't even want a card apparently. I sent out an e-mail to all my friends ect asking for their correct mailing address, and only half got back to me sleep.gif

holley79 replied: rolleyes.gif Well I am the world's worse. I buy the cards, get them signed and addressed then forget to send them. Needless to say I give up. Good thing people don't expect a card from me. blush.gif

MyBlueEyedBabies replied:
I have had every single one of my cards addressed and sitting on my counter since the day before thanksgiving...we are having stamp issues 3 times we have tried to get them and haven't been able to so chances are people won't be getting them this year laugh.gif
hopefully everyone knows that we love them because I am not doing well with this mail thing

PhiMuMommy replied: i never send cards out. so i'm one of those you don't like..lol. smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied: tongue.gif nah I don't care this is the first year we have sent out one I think we sent about 45 or so out and we only got about 10 or so but I don't think most of them send out cards anyway... OH and I didn't have stamps so mine didn't get sent out until yesterday and monday happy.gif

PrairieMom replied:
Its not that I don't like them, its just that it hurts me emotionally. dry.gif I really need to get a real problem! wink.gif

holley79 replied: The longer I sat here and thought about this the more I was like, Humm maybe these people that have sent them to me are thinking the same thing. bigthink.gif

I am making a vow everyone. Next year I am going to remember to send out Birthday cards and Christmas cards. rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif Remind me of this post in a couple of months ok. laugh.gif

akbutterfly83 replied: I know how you feel too.... lol... I sent maybe close to 100 and only got like 5 or 6 back.....

booey2 replied: Hugs you are not alone here. I used to send out tons of cards but after a couple of years of only receiving 1 or 2 back I started to scratch people off my list who didn't send them to me, now I don't send any out but those that do send to me I try to call and thank them. blush.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I think I will have done a total of about 50 and so far about 20 back not counting the ones Kait got. I have sent them ever year for a long time and my rule is if I dont get one back in 2 years they are off the list until then send me one first. However there are a few exceptions to that rule.

MommyToAshley replied: It's not petty... it's important to you. It sounds like you put a lot of thought and care into every card you send. I bet it really makes the people that receive them feel special. I am sure those that don't send one back have no clue how it makes you feel, or they would have sent one. But, you shouldn't take that as a cue about whether or not they care about you.

Every year, I vow that I am going to send my cards earlier, and every year I end up sending them the week before Christmas. I always feel like I should have spent more time writing something special in each card, but I am always in such a rush. Next year (and I mean it this time) I am going to start earlier.... thanks for the reminder of how much the little things really do matter.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Thanks for the reminder.

I'm going to vow to get clearance bulk chyristmas cards, and adress them and stamp them throughout the year.... then I'll I'll have to do when we get our pics taken in november (we always have them done in june and november... dunno.gif) I'll just have to stuff and send.

moped replied:
I am one of those people you sent to who didn't send back - I am not a bad person, and I totally enjoyed getting yours!!!!!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I always buy mine the end of the season, so I am ready for next year. laugh.gif

jacobsmama replied:
that is funny because that is what my mom does..She only sends to those who send to her because she was sending so many..

Don't worry I get sad too because I never get as many as I send out either!! wub.gif

akbutterfly83 replied:
I know your not... and I wanted to send one too you... lol... I wasn't looking for you to send me one back.... but I wish family would... I send to them every year.... and really don't get anything back....

redchief replied: We stopped sending cards out years ago, when we realized the cost had gone in excess of $100.00 in cards and postage. We thought about limiting our list some, but decided that would only cause harder feelings, so we just stopped.

I don't have fewer friends because of it and no one has ever asked me why I don't send them. I admit that we get far fewer cards in return than we have in the past, but that doesn't bother me in the least. When all was said and done we figured the only people that really benefited in any way were the card companies and the USPS.
