I have been taking care of this baby for 2 months now. She is a full term baby when she came to us. She was born with a very serious problem...she has a very unhealthy heart and she has gone through many operations already in her short time on earth. But none of the operations have really fixed her problem just prolonged her life. She was put on a heart transplant list and she is on the top of the list. She was hanging on with all her strength and all of us was so shocked she survived... Well we have some wonderful news...they found a heart for this little girl. She is going into surgery tomorrow morning. All i know is this heart is coming from somewhere in the states. And the little baby that lost his life was a 1 month old little boy. He died in a car accident. So when i go into work tomorrow i will see this little baby girl after she comes out of surgery with her new heart...  Im so happy for this baby and her mom. the mom is single and alone. I cant wait to see the mom and give her a big hug! But it will be very critical the next little while and we hope she doesnt reject this heart!
please say a little pray that this little girl will make it through the procedure.

I have a feeling everything will be alright...I'm so glad they found a heart for her. That is such great news and a positive sign that it will all work out. It is so wonderful what all they can do these days (medically).

What is the name of the little girl? I will also keep her and her family in my thoughts and prayers. Please be sure to let us know how things go.
It must be hard for you emotionally to see these kinds of things every day. Every time I hear such a story, it makes me want to go hug Ashley and never let go!
momtobe replied: It is very emotionally draining, expecially because i am pregnant myself and have seen many scarey things. But it is so wonderful to see babies survive and pull through... When a baby dies in my care i do have to talk to a social worker and counsellor at work. just to get my feelings out and to get reasurrance of why io took this job and chose this career. My hiusband is wonderful also... he works in a hospital also. He is a doctor also. So he knows the pian and frustration i go through at times

Can I ask what kind of heart problem/defect she has?

She has Hypoplastic left heart syndrome. The docotrs did the stages of operations they go through but it was not helping the defect was worse than anyone thought. She needed a new heart.
