Cadens Birth Story - and a couple of pics..........LONG
Mom2Boyz wrote: Sorry I didn't get around to posting this sooner, but between trying to keep up with Conner, and caring for Caden, it seems like I havn't stopped since we got home.
Sooooooo...........I'd been having contractions every day last week, for at least 5 or 6 hours at a time, then they would just stop. On thursday, I had been having them pretty regular all day long, so when dh got home from work, I told him we should go get something to eat, then hit the wal mart to walk around for a while to see if it would help get the contractions going even better ( we had to go grocery shopping anyway). Well, we went and ate, and when we got to wal mart, I started feeling really weird. I got really hot and dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out so I told him we should just go home so I could rest, and I would do the grocery shopping on Friday. By the time we got home, I was feeling fine, and the contractions had all but stopped AGAIN!! I was convinced that this baby was never comming out, and he just liked playing tricks on me . I went to bed around Midnight, and woke up about an hour later to go to the bathroom, but still wasn't having any contractions. I went back to sleep, only to wake up at about 3:00 with KILLER contractions comming one on top of the other. I turned on the t.v. and breathed through about 8 or 9 of them before deciding to call my mom to come and watch Conner. I woke up dh and told him to get up and get every thing ready, that I was "pretty sure" this was it. By the time my mom got to our house, my contractions were about 2 minutes apart, and at that point I "thought" I was dying LOL. We got to the hospital around 4:30 and they got me all hooked up to the monitors. I was expecting her to tell me I was dilated to like 3 or maybe 4, but nope, when she checked I was already at 6!!!! Thank God my dr was on call, and was asleep at the hospital, so they didn't have to wait for him to get there or anything. They started getting my room ready and by5:30 the nurse was putting in my i.v. and getting ready to call for my epidural (which I was MORE than ready for)It took what seemed like FOREVER for the lady to get the epidural in. She had to stick me 3 times, and I was just about ready to give up on it when she finally got it. So around 6:30a.m I was NUMB, and a much more pleasant person to be around As soon as the epi was working, the nursed checked me again, and I was dilated to 8 by that time. My dr hadn't been in to see me yet, but the nurse said she didn't think it would be long at all, so I should try to get some rest. I tried, but you all know how hard it is to try to rest when you're so excited. So, instead of sleeping, I called everyone I knew to let them know Caden would be here shortly. Finally around 7:30a.m my dr came in and checked me, and I was FULLY dilated!!!!!!! My water still had not broken, so he took care of that. He said that caden was still up pretty high, so It may take quite a bit of pushing to get him out. At 7:35 he had me "Practice" push through a contraction, and decided it would be much faster than he was thinking. He quickly had them get everything set up, and called the baby nurse, and 12 minutes and 4 contractions later he was here!!!!!!!
Since it took forever for me to dilate with Conner, I never expected things to move so quickly!!! But I wouldn't have changed a thing He was even born in the same room as Conner was,and I had the same nurse I had with Conner, so I thought that was pretty cool
I must say, Conner is doing a pretty good job as a big brother so far. He's not near as jealous as I was afraid he would be. It's still early, and he's still got alot of adjusting to do, but I think he'll do just fine
He is nursing like a champ, and actually lets mommy sleep for 3 or 4 hours at a time, so that's been great!!! He does have one teeny tiny little problem, but I'm going to make a totally differnt post about it, so I won't even go into it here. Thanks everyone for all of your kind words and compliments on our little guy it really means alot.
Here's one of Caden and I just shortly after he arrived
