Bye Bye - puppy
Mommy2Isabella wrote: Sal and I have decied to give our puppy to the SPCA! ... He is having some issues, what we have gathered is he is sensing the baby is near and he isn't the CENTER of attention, and he decided he needed to chew on furniture that is BRAND NEW .. we just got it in October or August! But, it would be best if we took him and they found him a BRAND NEW HOME that is just as good as the one he has now!!!
EvesMom replied: My cat's were acting out (they are like children), towards the end of my preg, and when DD arrived. They just needed to get used to the change. They are fine now. It's a shame you are going to get rid of your puppy.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Do you plan to get another dog after Isabella is born??
luvmykids replied: I'm sure that was tough for you guys and the dog, best wishes for him in his new home.
MamaJAM replied: We had to get rid of one of our dogs while preg with DS#2 for similar reasons. I remeber how hard it was....but you need to do what's best for you, Sal and the peanut.
ashtonsmama replied: Awwww... I'm sorry-it is always very hard to get rid of a pet, but it sounds like the best thing for you and Sal right now...good luck!
luvbug00 replied: it's hard enough for puppies to ajust so I think not keeping it is a good idea. *smile* But don't forget to send it to a no kill facility or rescue! regular shelters are so crapmped they are doing some dogs in more quickly then they say they are.
DVFlyer replied: People should be better educated before acquiring a pet. Too many times, people don't realize what they could be getting into. At least you are giving him/ her to a shelter v.s. sticking it outside.
salmndr007 replied: We are actually planning on getting a Husky puppy about a year or two after Bella is born. This way the dog comes in to a home where he/she is already not the center of attention and is able to learn its place a little more. Jess and I have wanted a Husky for a while now so the next puppy that we get is going to be a beautiful puppy with blue eyes to match Jess'

aspenblue1 replied: I have huskies and they are very hard dogs especially if you are having issues with this puppy chewing on things. They dig constantly talk and unless correctly socialized can be a bad family dog, they can get snippy. I am sorry if I offend you but I LOVE huskies but I know they are not the dogs for people who are not completely prepared for a husky. They are very loving, stubborn, intelligent. I see so many huskies given to shelters because people do not really know what they are getting into.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Best of luck to you & the puppy!
Bee_Kay replied: ITA with Carrie.
Sal and Jessi, I hope you really educate yourselves about huskies before you actually get one.
Hope you are able to find a nice home for you puppy.
Mommy2Isabella replied: we have both had dogs for many years. Tobi is predominately Chow and they aren't good with children anyways. Not really offended, we both know husky's are dogs that need a lot of attention and training. Tobi however, had other issues, he was taken away from his mother too early and I was the first one to care for him after that, so he was VERY CLINGY to me, the further I have gotten along in my pregnancy the more he chooses to act out in ways that are UNACCEPTABLE. The furniture incident was not the first thing to happen. We both felt that we can't replace Isabella if he were to act out in a manner that would harm her, not that we saw that happening, just felt it was more important to protect her. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED TOBI and would have LOVED to have kept him, Chows are VERY TEMPERMENTAL and we want a good family dog. Which is the reason we are going to wait until Isabella is a little older to get another dog, and a husky is the kind of dog we want, they are very loyal. Sal, worked at a vet and knows A LOT about animals. I would hate for anyone here to think we took the easy way out with taking Tobi away, it was VERY hard for both of us. I was not HOME when Sal took him, for I knew I would BAWL and not go thru with it. But Isabella is FAR MORE IMPORTANT than any animal in our eyes.
