Bugaboo Stroller - anyone have one?
Mommy2Isabella wrote: I am looking at stroller, and I wanted a bugaboo with Bella but we just couldn't afford it.
I would love to get one. Though they don't have a double stroller, if it is one instead of two, I think we might get one ...
Does anyone have one, do you like it? Do you ever use the bassinet thing ...
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: They look cute, but wow, way too expensive IMO. Have you actually tried one out in the store? I pushed one around and they are HEAVY. Big wheels. I just can't see using the bassinette part for very long. JMO. We have the Combi double stroller which is light, but quite the contraption. And I also have a Peg Perego single Aria which has been great. You can put the carseat in it to make a travel system, just not as big as typical travel systems. I have even seen Peg Perego strollers at Marshall's for like half the price.
Mommy2Isabella replied: I pushed around the Cameleon one at the store, it wasnt too bad. I am looking at getting the frog. It is the lightest of all of them, we will see though. I have a friend who has the cameleon and she hates it. She said its too heavy she never uses it. She used the bassinet for awhile though.
momofone replied: Maybe on ebay I don't know about the shipping cost though or maybe sometimes in your local paper people sell slightly used items
Cece00 replied: With 2 young kids, your smart option would be a double stroller. Trust me on this one. I have 4 young kids, I have had my double stroller since I had my 2nd, since my kids were 15 months apart when I had #2. A double stroller has been my lifesaver.
I SERIOUSLY considered buying both a triple and quadruple stroller when I had #3 and #4 but they wouldnt fit into the back of my car. And they were really expensive.
boyohboyohboy replied: we have the double stroller also, from peg perrago..its been great, and is not as large as some of the others, it folds easy when i have one kid in my arm.. and the carseat we have is dont designed for it, but it fit just fine.
Mommy2Isabella replied: Well depending on the number of babies I have in my belly ... will determine what kind of stroller I get. If we are having two, I will definetly be getting a double stroller. If I have just one, i am looking at getting a nice single, and a cheaper double, where Bella can stand or sit on the back ... I think those are neat! But there will be times when I don't have her, that I can take the fancy stroller, and when I do and her daddy is with, we can just take the fancy shamncy stroller
Cece00 replied: This is JMO, but she will be too young to stand on that back platform thing. A child her age will not want to do that for more than a couple of minutes. Again, JMO, of course you should get what YOU want, I'd just hate to see you buy something else later on because it wasnt working for you.
Good luck!
jem0622 replied: Never had one. I have been very happy with Peg Perego and MacLaren's!
Mommy2Isabella replied:
Thanks! Well, I have NO CLUE what it is like to have an older child. LOL So THANK YOU. I guess that is something I didn't think about. They have some where they have a seat on that back part as well, like a platform to stand or they can sit ... do you think she will be willing and old enough to sit there, or will she want to sit up front you think ? I am open for ALL advice, as I have NO CLUE .. lol ... I was figuring she will be a year and 6 months if it is one baby, and a year and some change if it is two ...
Kentuckychick replied: I personally could never in a million years justify spending $900 + dollars on a stroller. Of course that's just my opinion but there are so many options and so many brands have made strollers that are so similar to the bugaboos at a fraction of the cost that it just seems a waste.
I don't know... I guess where I live the only people who own them use them as "status symbols" so in part if you live somewhere that you'll use it everyday for years maybe it would be worth it. I personally own a Quattro Tour I paid less than $100 bucks for and we've used it nearly daily for a year now throughout our neighborhoods... it's been wonderful.
I have a couple of friends who own the "knock offs" and they love them... here's a few other options just in case you're interested (they all seem to get really good ratings);
Britax Stroller
Kolcraft Contours
Fisher Price Dream Design
And this is the double stroller that we're looking into and that my best friend swears was the best investment she ever made (the seats can be reversed and switched around and rotated... it's pretty awesome);
Kolcraft Contours Tandem
Good Luck either way
Cece00 replied: Maybe I just have lazy kids but they NEVER wouldve wanted to stand or sit on the back for a few minutes. Plus, I think of them like those carts @ Target that have those seats, and I think they say you are not supposed to put a child under age 3 on one of those.
Maybe check the age limit for the back part??? I think 1.5 will be too young. My daughter is 20 months and I know she would not sit in one of those things for long, and I would be worried about her falling out, although I admit I dont know what type of straps those have, but normal double strollers have the belts that go in front of the crotch AND a tray, so it would be pretty hard to fall out of the seat, KWIM? And, she gets pissed when I put her in the BACK seat of the double stroller, she likes the front and is not happy when her little brother gets the front seat.
Cece00 replied: PS- Did they tell you that you might be having twins??
I was worried about twins when I was pregnant with my daughter. My hcg levels were VERY HIGH, I found out I was pregnant like 4 days before my period was even due and my numbers were like triple what "average" was. But then I got an ultrasound and it was only one.
I was even MORE scared when I was pregnant with Jack...I dont think my numbers were crazy high, but my daughter was 2.5 months old so the thought of having twins and a baby 11 months apart scared the CRAP out of me
Cece00 replied: I also would never spend that much on a stroller BUT I dont use ANY of my strollers much. I have 2 single strollers, a double stroller and a couple of umbrella strollers.
I guess if I used mine a lot, I'd want a really nice one that would last & all that jazz.
So if you dont use a stroller a LOT (and with 2 small babies, you may not be....) you may not want to get a super expensive one, unless you plan on keeping it a looonnnngggggg time.
My double stroller is a Graco Duoglide which was kind of one of the few ones they sold back then (double strollers were not super popular when I got mine 5 yrs ago...a lot more ppl make them now, IMO) and its a bit heavy, but its very sturdy, and its held up through 5 kids and still looks pretty nice. Its not beat up, its been very durable, its easy to open & use & steer.
I dont know that I would get that one if I was buying a new one (I'm not, as my last baby is already almost a yr old and my double has at least 2 more yrs of life in it...), since they make others than are lighter now, but I still wouldnt spend more than like $350-400 on a double. So obviously I wouldnt spend more than that on a single. But, like I said, I dont use mine all of the time. Only when we go to the mall, or park, which isnt too too often. At the stores I use a cart. Sometimes if I go somewhere with DH, we use 2 singles, depending on where we are going (a double is hard to push around a small store).
Mommy2Isabella replied:
Yes! My levels are ridiculously high. They are going to keep an eye on things ... but we will see, either way we are estatic ... ... But twins would be twice the trouble, and twice the fun, not to mention Isabella ... she is just spoiled though ...
Mommy2Isabella replied: http://www.barebabies.com/philteds.html
These look nice!
Calimama replied: Ooo I like those!! I like those better than the first ones.
Mommy2Isabella replied: They are double strollers as well, they look neat, they aren't as big and bulky as a normal double, which is one thing I am trying to get away from. I just will feel like an old lady with a HUGE stroller, these are all my ideas for one baby, now two babies ... who knows what we will do ... I haven't found any streamline triple strollers ...
Calimama replied: No kidding, I just googled some triple strollers and they were all impossibly huge or look like they were made in the 70's.
Mommy2Isabella replied: yikes ... Im not looking forward to looking like a 1970's stroller woman ... however we will find out soon if I will have a choice in how HIP I look ... meaning needing a double or a triple!
Calimama replied: http://www.strollerdepot.com/moreinfo.php?...iple%20Stroller http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/602-2...gt_adv_XSN10001 http://comfortfirst.com/p-38985-peg-perego....aspx?kbid=3349
I spoke too soon! See you can be hip with a triple stroller. I really like the last one!
Kentuckychick replied: Those though still pricey are REALLY nice... you see a lot of the higher end joggers here in Kentucky. I don't know about the ones where one kid rides underneath I think it's a little unfair that one kid only gets to look at the back of the seat in front of them and side to side... but I dunno... lol They are definitely a good buy if you're a bigtime walker. However not a good stroller for shopping and such. So it depends what you're needing it for I guess.
The Tike Trek Trax360's are really nice too for a little less and the Baby Jogger Citys are really nice as well. You could always do something like that if you're a big walker and a Mac or Chicco side-by-side for shopping (takes up MUCH less trunk space too) and still have spent less than you would have on a single bugaboo...
Mac
Chicco
lol... see I'm all about the use you'll get out of the money though
P.S. Sorry if you hate the links let me know... I just hate to mention things and not give you somewhere to go to see an example...
Mommy2Isabella replied: The chicco one is pretty cool looking. my big issue is that I am at the yong age of 20 I don't want a stroller that is big and bulky and ugly ... lol, Im big into fashion and such. We also live in a fairly uppity city ... lol so I would hate to be the talk of the town because I have a crappy stroller ... lol ...
I do like the chicco one. Hopefully if it is twins I can find a snazzy triplet stroller, I have been looking and all that I am finding is stuff my grandmother would have ... NO offense to anyone that has it. The selection is just so slim on triplet strollers!
jcc64 replied: $900 for a stroller???? I don't think I paid that much for my first car! Seriously, though, what could a stroller possibly do that would justify that amount of money?? Why are they so desirable (other than the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow used one)? I've had many different types of strollers through the years- some higher end (though not THAT high) and some really cheap ones. In my experience, the Combi we had was the lightest, most comfy for the baby, and easiest to use. With a different kid we had an expensive all terrain stroller b/c at the time, I was coaching and would be pushing it through alot of fields and dirt paths. I hardly ever used it because it was so heavy, difficult to set up with one hand, and took up way too much room in the back of the car. So I went out and bought a $40 Chicco stroller at Baby Depot and used it for years until it fell apart from too much use. My advice- don't spend more than you have to. Go for something light and easy to use- forget about the trendy factor. Your babies will never know whether they are riding in the "it" stroller.
Mommy2Isabella replied:
I like the first one. You are like me, the last one is NICE. But its over 1000 dollars, maybe you missed that part ... lol!!! The first one is TRENDY, Also, has the stand up part in the back, or a JUMP SEAT, where she could sit down ... thats handy.
Cece00 replied: That happened to me, too, with Natalie. Thank goodness it was only one!
What were your #'s at how many weeks?
Cece00 replied: I like the 2nd triple stroller....
HMMMM maybe I should get one afterall
Mommy2Isabella replied:
At three weeks I was at 180, and 3 weeks and 5 days I was at 3000 and something ...
luvmykids replied: I'm too lazy to look at all the links but my two cents is if you get a double stroller don't get the side by side...they're too hard to get through doorways and store aisles.
moped replied: Can you show me a pic of the peg perego you have??
Kentuckychick replied: This is true... I can see that being a real pain
Have you seen the Peg P3's... I really love those... that's what I will be buying for myself when I'm not using the stroller for my godchildren but for my own children instead
They have so many different fashionable options and colors and they seem to be very popular. They are single strollers though so that's just if you go that route.
With my godchildren, Connor was almost 2 when Caydence was born and we've never had a double stroller... we occasionally use our Safety First Acella for short trips to the park, but otherwise he walks (no interest whatsoever in the stroller) and Caydee rides in the Quattro.
jem0622 replied: I have a SBS for my twins and have had no problems getting through doorways
C&K*s Mommie replied: I agree with Jeanne.
Good luck with whatever decision you make in choosing a stroller.
Cece00 replied: Wow, that is pretty high. Mine was over 1200 when I was 4 weeks pregnant, that was the last time I had it tested. Its supposed to double (triple?) every like 3 days, so mine was probably as high as yours was @ 5 weeks, but I just had one.
Mommy2Isabella replied: Suppossed to double every 2.5 days ...
We are excited either way ...
TANNER'S MOM replied: Now I am a redneck back woods chick..and I had my children young. I wanted to be a cool hip Mom..and still try to be. My 17 year old still tells me I dress like a teenager instead of a Mom and look good doing it..lol But I will be honest.. $900 is alot of money. I mean I have driven cars cars with wheels and MOTORS that didn't cost that much but got me to work..that cost less than that.
I understand wanting to be cool and hip, but at what price do we care what people think.
I draw the line at that big time.
I had a double stroller, not the side by side..and used it okay. It was still bulky and hard to turn but it was alright. Of course that was almost 17 years ago..and I never realized there was a difference in strollers. I got mine at good ole Wal Mart and it served it's duty.
gr33n3y3z replied: Well said Jeanne You dont need to drive a Mercedes to be a good mom
Mommy2Isabella replied: I don't think that I need the stroller, I just like them. I doubt I will be purchasing one. I think I have found a few other alternatives, I really like the design of the stroller.
I def. don't think I need the stroller to be a good mom by any means. However, why buy a honda if you can and really want to buy a lexus ... ?
moped replied: I guess if I wanted a stroller for that much I could but I would rather spend the money on something else...........
But hey, let us know what you end up with!
Mommy2Isabella replied: I know we aren't getting the bugaboo, I have found a number of strollers JUST LIKE IT, for cheaper. We have our double stroller picked out, it is the phil and ted one. The link is posted somewhere ... lol
Im not sure for a triple stroller though, and I will probably be getting a single stroller as well.
PrairieMom replied: really? I have just a regular grayco single stroller, and it is a total PITA when shopping, always having to squeeze though isles and racks of clothes.
Calimama replied: I like the way you think.
gr33n3y3z replied: Hondas are better cars then Lexus
Mommy2Isabella replied: You ruined the point I was trying to make ... lol !
Ok let me think of a different one, why buy a 1985 Toyota, when you can buy a BRAND NEW Lexus RX 300 ?
EITHER WAY!! lol ... I am spoiled ... I guess that is what this all boils down to in the end. I know I won't be spending 900 on a Bugaboo, just because I found some that are just as nice, if not nicer for less money. However, we spend OVER 1000 dollars on Isabellas bedroom stuff, and we have already said WE WILL NOT DO THAT AGAIN. Because we found some cribs that we like just as much for cheaper. So I figure with the money we DON'T SPEND on a crib and dresser, I can get a FANCY SCHMANCY stroller that I would REALLY LOVE to stroll around with ..
I completely understand where other people are coming from, with other places and things to spend money on. BUT I WANT IT ... LOL ... as I tell sal, I WILL WHINE ... lol and he doesn't like to put up with it, so I get what I want within reason, he said IM CRAZY to think he will let me get the bugaboo, but maybe something cheaper, he would consider, and I need to look on ebay ... lol
luvmykids replied: At least you can admit it
Mommy2BAK replied: I agree, I've had one of each in the last 3 years, and I'd have to say... why buy a lexus when you can buy a honda for a fraction of the price and not have to fret as much about wrecking it.
Anyway, I just cannot understand why anyone would pay so much for a STROLLER??? Are you planning on strolling around the world or what?
gr33n3y3z replied: LOL I'm sorry I ment to do that hun I know what you mean
redplaydoh replied: We looked at that model and decided to go with a ridiculously expensive Mutsy stroller (that we're selling btw). Mutsy isn't available in the US, we bought it on one of our trips here because using the frame you can have one seat or snap out the single seat and have a double. We knew we would have #2 right away so that's why we went with that option.
If it had been available when we were shopping I would've gotten the Stokke stroller. I've done a test demo at a store here and OMIGOSH I LOVED IT. It was the easiest stroller to navigate and I liked that the baby sat high. Here's a link if you're interested. http://www.stokkeusa.com/xplorydemo.htm It also seems to have a change online to enter to win one!!
Here's our Mutsy if anyone is interested we can bring it to the US in September. The seat can face forward or rear-facing.

Same stroller frame but with the duo-seat instead of the single. The single lays flat for a bassinet type as well. It has air tires and suspension, as well as two axels steering.
Our Lil' Family replied: DeAnn, I'm totally sold on the Stokke....do you remember how much it is?
Mommy2Isabella replied: Its is about 1000 dollars ... they are nice .. but for that reason Sal said NO WAY ...
Though you can find them on Ebay for cheaper ... around 890 - 900 range!
