Bride's Only party

DVFlyer wrote: I just read about this and thought it was a neat idea for "girl's only" party. Married women dust off their wedding dresses and wear them to this party. You have cake, etc and just have a good ole time. I was thinking you could also watch wedding videos.

Might be fun. I'm trying to convince Michelle to do this. With two kids, I'm sure she can use some "girl" fun.

Anyone heard of or done one?

C&K*s Mommie replied: Never have heard of this.

mckayleesmom replied: nope....but it sounds fun...and you get to use your dress again...LOL

DVFlyer replied: That was kind of the idea... since they say you only wear the wedding dress once. This gives you an excuse to wear it again..... and drink smile.gif

amymom replied: I really like the idea .....

except here it is 21 years later, 2 kids, 4 pregnancies all kinds of other stuff and that size 4 wedding dress just is never going to fit this 'mature' body again. I am only 10 lbs heavier but its in all the wrong places!!!! Sad to say. rolling_smile.gif
But the party sounds like a great idea!!!

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Wow that sounds like a great idea! So which leg should I wear it on?!? huh.gif rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif bawling.gif rolling_smile.gif

luvmykids replied: I would love it, bridesmaids would probably be only too happy to participate too, when would they get to wear their infamous dresses again either?! rolling_smile.gif

amymom replied:
Now I do have a bridesmaids dress that I can fit in. Ok back to the party planning. partysmiley.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: OMG! That is a great idea for one of my Hot Mama's parties!!!! The only bad thing is that my dress is sealed up in a box...I'm not sure I would want to unwrap it and pay to have it pressed and sealed up again, kwim? Sounds fun though! Didn't they have a Friends episode like that where the three girls wore wedding gowns and vegged out in front of the tv?

luvmykids replied:
Yes, they were trying on dresses just to "experience" it wedding or no and Rachels crush showed up and she answered the door and scared him off. I loved that episode rolling_smile.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: The woman who plays Caleigh Duscayne on CSI Miami cleans her house wearing a tiara from a beauty pageant she was in when whe was younger. I get out my wedding tiara and wear it from time to time just for kicks.

DVFlyer replied: I sent the idea to Michelle and she said that women typically don't want anything to happen to their wedding dresses, so the chances of getting it dirty my disuade (is that a word?) from wearing them at a party like this.

Mom2BNTN replied:
I've never heard of having a party like this, but it does sound like a lot of fun. However, I had my dress cleaned and boxed for safe keeping. If anyone does have a party don't forget to post some pics on here for us all to see.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: They could still wear veils and head pieces. Those aren't too hard to clean up and they look fab with jeans.

luvbug00 replied: LOl!! i'm hoping mya will wear my moms dress as well so i'm not about to try and get it dirty! but it's a cute idea..

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yeah, I was like a size ZERO when I got married. Trying my dress on would depress me. rolling_smile.gif

But, I love the idea of having a nice dress up party just for girls. biggrin.gif I have a lot of really nice (expensive) bridesmaids dresses I could wear. thumb.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
So Diva-esque Kelly! I LOVE that idea too, although I didn't wear a tiara at my wedding...note to self: buy tiara at Claires next time at mall! rolling_smile.gif

ashtonsmama replied: As long as you can still FIT in your wedding dress!
laugh.gif
No, that sounds like a cute idea! I'll have to try that sometime!
smile.gif

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Sounds like fun but with my expensive taste i rented my wedding dress. I didn't care if i had it in a box later and after lots of shopping and bad dresses I finally found a dress I liked for $15,000...apparently that was out of what my mom had invisioned as my budget rolling_smile.gif but I do have on my $15,000 in all my pictures so it worked out well for me

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Yep - we're planning one this fall!! I have several friends who are getting married this summer/fall... so all the girls are getting together, with our bridesmaids, we're reserving a room at a small hall - we're going to be about 40 girls!!

I need to lose about 20 pounds to fit into my dress by then though. unsure.gif The rest of the girls don't have kids (yet) so it should be ok!

Kated replied: I never heard of that but sounds like fun. I dont havemy wedding video. THe person that took it lost it and never sent it to me.
I would love to wear my dress again and eat cake and have fun!

A&A'smommy replied: lol I have never heard of that but I would have to loose umm... quite a bit of weight to wear mine again!!

ZandersMama replied:
omg i do that too laugh.gif glad i am not alone, always thought i was tongue.gif

MyBlueEyedBabies replied:
I was eyeing my veil this morning in my closet and thinking I need to go get a tiara so I can wear this...Now we are all going to be big dorks walking arround cleaning our house in our headpieces smile.gif

PrairieMom replied: does the dress have to zip all the way up? unsure.gif blush.gif After The Boy I lost all my baby weight, but somehow the my shape never came back! dry.gif
